The second music video for Wicked Wonderland dropped today and I have some thoughts.

So I can't be the only one who thought that the song was taking inspiration from Night Falls right?

I mean dancing soldiers and the group not quite being a united front?

I think I can see where some of the inspiration for this song came from and I think a little bit of EAH got in there too since their Wonderland special also included a dance battle on a chess board, albeit not quite the same.

That said there are some interesting things going on in this music video.

1.Robbie's absence

Robbie Hood is nowhere to be seen in this music number and that might be because of this:

One of the teasers shows Robbie getting yeeted off the chess board, presumably just before the number begins and later the same happens to Felix.

It's unclear where this sends them, maybe this is how they end up on their traumatic tea cup ride?

2. Felix has powers!

At one point Felix is shown using magic against the chess soldiers:

I love this because Freddie and Celia never got to use powers(unless you count the Wicked World books) and the only other male spell caster we've seen(who is not an OG villain) is Zevon.

3. Chloe

Throughout this number Chloe seems really off, either she's beefing with Hazel or she's not as on board with Red's plan as everyone else is.

She and Red also seem really out of sync which seems like it's going to be significant to her story line.

4. Luis the strong

At one point Luis is seen destroying a chess soldier with his chest and lifting several by himself:

I guess he really did inherit his mother's strength.

5. Pink the mighty

Pink is shown taking initiative, back flipping across the chess board to destroy several chess soldiers and she likes it.

I really like this for her character since it means they aren't just making her Bridget 2.0 and she seems to be having so much fun, I love her.

6. Chessy and Maddox

The trailers seem to indicate that Chessy is the one who orchestrates this little fiasco but at one point one of the chess soldiers seems to be possessed by Maddox since the laughter sounds male and the purple smoke looks identical to what Maddox produces in the trailers. Could Maddox and Chessy be working together?

7. Smee Twins

The Smee twins are actually active here so I guess they aren't just set dressing this time, though going by the promo so far I still don't expect them to be more than background characters.

Also one of them gets swallowed by the floor:

In between this and what happens to Robbie and Felix, it seems there are certain tiles the group can't step on.

8. Max

I continue to be confused about Max's alliances since he gets captured by chess soldiers seemingly under his father's command and is fighting against them the whole time:

Either this is one hell of a double act or Maddox doesn't really care about Max and it'll play into Max going against his father for real.

9. Flower Power

We finally get context for that scene of Red seemingly throwing Chloe toward an evil flower.

Red wants to use the flower to get to the soldier Maddox is controlling to stop him but Chloe either panics, isn't fast enough, or doesn't realize Red's intentions so she nearly gets chomped and Red does it herself:

This puts a stop to the chess soldiers but it seems like this incident is going to be an issue for Red and Chloe's relationship down the line:
