Disney Descendants Love and other fandoms

Like obvi not blaming Ben or Mal but Ben and Mal deserves better writing. Like in D1 why did they make him okay with the love spell/poison like what I mean is when the spell wore off I'm surprised he didn't scold mal. He wasn't bothered by her using her magic.

DISCLAIMER: He did refuse to eat the cookie but mal guilt-tripped him into eating it by saying he must not trust her which made him feel bad because you have to look at it, he did trust them enough to come to Auradon.

but in D2 during their date/picnic which I believed to be an area somewhat similar to where they went on their first date in the first movie, he found her spell book, he saw she had speed reading spell, blonde hair spell and cooking food spell, he gotten upset but thought she was fitting in well but Mal tried to spell him by erasing his memory. Overall he was frustrated because she wasn't being honest, there isn't honesty in their relationship.

SIGNIFICANCE: Since they're near the same area by The Enchanted Lake which is significant because it's where Mal and Ben had their first date in D1 and where Ben's love spell was washed away after he fell into the water. The lake became a symbol of truth overcoming artificial magic. In D2, having Mal try to use a spell on Ben again in the same area creates a parallel that reinforces the series' message: their relationship can only work through honesty and genuine feelings, not magic or manipulation. It's a key parallel between D1 and D2 is Mal's struggle with trusting that Ben loves the real her. In D1, Mal initially relies on magic to make Ben fall for her, but she gradually learns that genuine love cannot be created through spells. This lesson comes to a head when Ben is enchanted by Uma at Mal and Ben's Cotillion and declares that Uma is his true love. Instead of using more magic, Mal breaks the spell by openly confessing her love and kissing him, restoring his true memories and feelings. After she defeated uma at the stained-glass image of Ben with green eyes reassures her that he truly loves Mal—not an idealized version of her. At the end of the movie, she gives up her spell book and chooses to be honest about who she is.

Now back to Ben..I noticed how in beginning I pointed this out just recently. How bad was the spell and how bad was he under it for him to have that kind of outburst at her for it?? Like my friend @guardiandua91 pointed out that in D2 is very interesting, before the love spell in D1 he isn't that bothered by Mal using magic, after the love spell he is seemed okay with it. No anger or nothing but in D2 he seemed very much against it shown he had some type of trauma and lack of trust from Mal spelling him the first time. and probably with her spell book At the end of D2 he didn't call out uma for spelling him and seemed okay by it.

SENSITIVE TOPIC: What's worse is the love spell point isn't a good message for a kids movie especially when that is being played for laughs and those kids including me back then didn't know that was symbolism for drugging someone. LIke that gave kids the idea that people who likes them romantically, drugs them just like kids also get told by adults that boys their age "liked" them if they get hit by them physically. Like WHAT?! If that kid were to be in a toxic relationship you're telling me that if they get hit on or drugged by their partner they're going to think they love them because they gotten told so during their childhood?! bro that isn't right

back into the Ben and Mal topic, i noticed in D2, Mal backslides into the same insecurity. Despite everything she learned in D1 which is very wishy washy of the writers to do , she begins relying on magic again because she feels overwhelmed by the immense pressure to be the "perfect" Auradon royal. She believes she has to change herself for Ben, for Auradon, and for her role as a future queen, and in the process starts feeling like she is losing her true identity. The pressure becomes so suffocating that she returns to the Isle of the Lost, hoping to escape those expectations and reconnect with who she really is. Her return to spellcasting reflects her fear that her authentic self may not be enough, even though D1 seemed to prove otherwise but i guess that's why the connection to the Enchanted Lake is so fitting at that moment. In D1, it was the place associated with the breaking of false, magical love when Ben's love spell was washed away. In D2, another spell-related conflict occurs in the same area, creating a symbolic callback to the lesson Mal learned before. The lake represents truth overcoming artificial solutions, reinforcing the idea that their relationship cannot be built on magic, perfection, or changing who they are. Ultimately, both movies revolve around the same core theme: trusting that real love comes from being yourself. Mal's journey is about learning—and then relearning—that Ben loves her for who she truly is, not for the person she thinks she needs to become.

Anyway I just wanted to tell everyone how insanely smart Carlos is.

He built a device to see more channels on his tv while they were still on the isle (very limited resources). Said device shot a hole into the barrier allowing some magic inside. (That’s from the first novel.)

Once on the isle he figures out computers and video games in less than a day to a point he can pin point where the wand is. They probably didn’t have computers on the isle.

I’m still trying to figure out what role FG is gonna play in this movie— if any role, really. Like, will it be a good role, or will she just be a small cameo at the end?

The full trailer for Wicked Wonderland dropped today and honestly it looks pretty good(with one exception I'll get to in a bit).

The trailer opens on a Queen of Hearts fake out which seems pointless since we already know she's good now but I do like her new cards:

So Red is happy with her new mom, best friend and it seems like she gets used to Pink too, everything's good.

Except it isn't, Maddox is evil now and he's taken over Wonderland, capturing the queens in the process and Charming's rescue doesn't seem to be going very well(though to be fair his claim to fame is finding a shoe, not fighting):

So Red rounds up the HK's and the VK's to go rescue everyone and liberate her home, though Chloe seems hesitant to work with the VK's at first which considering that her best friend is a former VK seems a little hypocritical.

There's no mention of the Kingdom Cup Games so that plot might have been scrapped but I'm excited to see more of Wonderland than just the castle.

It definitely seems like RedxLuis is going to be a thing and I already know it's not going to go over well with the GlassHeart shippers, nothing on ChloexMax so fat though.

And then there's Chessy.

I actually like some of the effects done with the character and it looks like they may be an antagonist(or maybe just an annoyance like in the original movie/book).

But some of the CGI looks horrifying and really out of place:

I have no idea what Maddox has here but it looks like we're getting a new magical Mcguffin which probably means FG is going to be useless again.

Hazel tells Chloe not to be so trusting but is this really Hazel or is it Maddox using illusions to corrupt Chloe? There's a theory going around that Chloe turns evil due to a run in with this thing:

And Maddox just uses that his advantage but honestly I could see him intentionally sending something to corrupt one of the group to foil their rescue attempt.

Either way we get another shot of evil Chloe holding the pocket watch, her face isn't seen but we know it's her thanks to leaks:

I honestly started wondering if evil Chloe was going to be post credits teaser for another movie(because Descendants 6 is probably going to happen whether we like it or not) but it's unlikely they'd put something like that in the main teaser/trailer or make a whole doll just for that. Especially since Mad, which released today(though I'm not sure if it's the whole song or just a snippet) sounds like it's being sung by evil Chloe.

Finally we have a shot of Max making a potion and what looks like it might be the final battle.

In all fairness with Chloe, she most likely still is getting used to the idea that life is complicated and not black-and-white and she may not entirely register Red as a "VK" anymore because of how good Red is and far better than the VKs they allied with as far as she's aware.

Kingdom Cups could be unofficial game by Chessy.

Maddox is using Queen of Hearts's magical cards. The same she used to stage a coup. He's using them to control the Wonderland much like how Audrey used Maleficent's stuff. Also realistically, I doubt Chloe and Red would consider Fae as an option considering how they handled things in RoR.

I think Hazel is real but perhaps more aware of things going around than Chloe.

The Mad segment that was released is dung by Pink, Red and Chloe as a remix that is more so reserved for credits. I'm afraid Chloe will be evil for 5 minutes max.
