last year I posted The Great Latke Debate poll which was applesauce vs sour cream and it ended up with an even split (typical) so this year may I present to you The Great Lights Debate

14. Do you have any fun Menorahs?
I have a “fun” Chanukiyah that I made in Junior kindergarten - it’s a block of wood, painted bright yellow, with all the other colours just paint-splattered liberally across it. The candles are set in a semi-circle, though, so I don’t light it as a kosher Chanukiyah (but I like to light colourful candles in it anyway on the eighth night to add their melted wax to its cacophany of colour). And my dad has one that plays “Maoz Tzur.”
20. Do you have a favorite midrash?
OKAY SO I HAVE A COMPLICATED RELATIONSHIP WITH MIDRASH because I am a pshattist at heart, but I am very soft for the cycle of Midrashim about the satan trying to stop Avraham from going through with Akeidat Yitzchak specifically because of my headcanons about the satan and my understanding that he DIDN’T KNOW it would turn out okay for Yitzchak and he was actually acting against his job description and just trying to save the kid.
33. Do you have a favorite obscure Jewish fun fact?
OH MY GOD SO MANY I’ve also kind of lost track of what counts as “obscure” at this point but one random oft-overlooked fact that springs to mind at this exact moment is that the first Aramaic in the pshat of the Tanach comes not in Daniel (which is written MOSTLY in Aramaic) but actually as early as Bereishit.
Temarukiyah - The Seventh Night of Hanukkah - Celebrate the Festival of Lights!
Night three includes apple soda with gold luster dust and a splash of Barenjager honey liqueur, surprise raspberry taffy gelt that were in the @munchpak I got today, and still being full from the amazing burger and latkes I had at JewBoy Burgers six hours ago 😎
