Eddie Brock didnât know why he was wearing a button-down. He hadnât ironed anything since 2018. Venom definitely didnât approve.
âWe are not corporate slaves, Eddie. This smells like sadness and dry cleaning.â
âShut up,â Eddie muttered under his breath, checking his reflection in the polished glass doors of Stark Tower. âThis is a real opportunity. Sheâs offering interviews. We need income that doesnât come with blood or⊠slime.â
âSlime is profitable.â
The elevator whooshed him up 87 floors before opening into what looked like a spaceship masquerading as an office.
Y/N Stark was already there. Sitting on the edge of a floating conference table, dark lipstick, eyes sharp, expression unreadable. She was wearing Stark-level elegance and Stark-level sarcasm, and Eddie felt exactly like a guy who wasnât supposed to be in the room.
âEddie Brock,â she said, standing and walking toward him, heels echoing with precision. âDisgraced journalist. Amateur boxer. Alien host.â
Eddie gave her a crooked smile. âWow. Youâve really done your stalking.â
âI do my research,â she replied. âIncluding on yourâŠÂ passenger.â
She tilted her head, amused. âI want to meet him.â
Eddie blinked. âYouâyou want to what?â
âVenom,â she said, as if tasting the name. âCome out and say hello.â
Venomâs head slowly emerged from Eddieâs shoulder, grinning.
âHELLO, PRETTY LADY.â
Eddie looked mortified. âDudeââ
Y/N arched a brow. âThatâs Ms. Stark to you, teeth-for-brains.â
Venom purred. âSHE IS SPICY. I LIKE HER. CAN I EAT SOMEONE FOR HER?â
âNo, you may not,â Eddie snapped.
Y/N turned away, walking toward a digital display wall with blueprints and energy signatures scrolling across it. âRelax. Iâm not here to cage you. In fact, Iâm offering you a job.â
Eddie stared. âWait. What?â
âYouâre chaotic, unfiltered, and half-alien,â she said. âI need someone to go places I canât be seen. Thereâs tech being stolen. Biological weapons. People who think the Stark name died with my father.â
Venom tilted his head. âAre we allowed to bite them?â
Y/N gave a wicked little smile. âOnly if I say so.â
Eddie blinked. ââŠIs this a job interview or a marriage proposal?â
Y/N turned to him, calm as ever. âI donât mix business and pleasure, Brock.â
Venom: âWe would.â
Eddie groaned into his hands. âOh my god, I hate you so much.â
Y/N handed him a Stark ID badge. âYou start Monday.â
âââ
Eddie Brock didnât know what he expected from his first day at Stark Industries, but it definitely wasnât a titanium badge, a biometric scanner that asked for his âpreferred tongue,â or a swarm of lab techs sprinting out of the breakroom screaming:
âIT ATE MY LUNCH!â
Eddie pinched the bridge of his nose. âVenom.â
âIT HAD PICKLES. WE LIKE PICKLES.â
âCool. You couldnât have asked?â
âWE ARE ABOVE ASKING. WE ARE A GOD.â
âYouâre a parasite in a hoodie.â
âPARASITE? RUDE.â
The elevator opened with a soft chime and revealed Y/N Stark in a blood-red suit and combat boots, holding a StarkPad and not looking up.
âYouâre late,â she said, breezing past him into the secure lab.
âI was interrogating the morality of lunch theft with a space goo inside my brain.â
She glanced over her shoulder. âAnd losing, clearly.â
âYeah, well, he had the high ground. And teeth.â
Inside the lab, dozens of prototypes hovered in display fieldsâsome Stark, some clearly not. Alien alloys. Symbiote-reactive gel. Something pulsing faintly behind reinforced glass that made Venom growl low in Eddieâs throat.
Y/N noticed.
âGood. You feel that. Youâre here because I need someone who knows that kind of energy. Thereâs been a breach in Sector 5. Someoneâs using symbiote residue to corrupt biotech.â She paused. âI figured your freeloading roommate might be useful.â
âYOU FLATTER US, SPARKLES.â
âWE LIKE YOUR FIRE. YOU WOULD MAKE AN EXCELLENT HOST.â
Y/N didnât even flinch. âTempting. But I already have an alien inside me.â
Eddie blinked. âWait, what?â
âI meant trauma, Brock.â
âWE REALLY LIKE HER.â
Y/N turned, handing Eddie a holo-slate. âYour mission: infiltrate the auction tomorrow night. Black market biotech. My sources say the stolen Stark techâs going up for sale. I want you in the room. Venom keeps you alive. Iâll be watching your feed.â
âDo I get backup?â
âYou get a suit.â
Eddie raised a brow. âLike⊠a suit suit? Or, like, an Iron Man kind of deal?â
Y/N smirked. âTry it on and find out.â
She pressed a button and a section of the floor opened to reveal a matte black Stark-tactical suit with deep violet liningâsymbiote compatible, according to the glowing specs.
âTHIS IS SEXY.â
Eddie looked at Y/N. âIs this flirting or foreplay?â
Y/N leaned in, stopping inches from his face.
âWhen I flirt,â she said softly, âyouâll need oxygen.â
She turned and walked out like the devil in lipstick, leaving Eddie standing there, suit in hand, pulse thundering.
âWE ARE SO INTO HER.â
Eddie: âYeah⊠that might be a problem.â
âââ
Eddie Brock tugged at the collar of his Stark-issued stealth suit, already regretting everything. It hugged in all the wrong placesâand the right onesâand he was sweating bullets under the neon lights of a high-rise auction disguised as a tech startup launch.
Y/N Starkâs voice purred in his comm:
âQuit fidgeting, Brock. You look like youâre about to pass out, not infiltrate an illegal biotech exchange.â
âIâm wearing a suit made of nanotech and bad decisions.â
âWE LIKE IT. IT SMELLS EXPENSIVE.â
âYou donât have a nose.â
âWE DO NOW. THANK YOU, LAVENDER FABRIC SPRAY.â
Eddie stifled a groan as he walked into the crowd. The auction was buried behind layers of fake handshakes and PR smiles, but the backroom was the real show. He flashed the badge Y/N had hacked for him, and a steel door slid open, revealing a sea of wealthy criminals sipping cocktails over stolen tech.
And right thereâcenter stageâa black glass case.
Y/Nâs voice turned sharp. âThat processorâs mine. Get it out before it ends up in a missile or someoneâs spinal cord.â
Eddie moved toward the platform.
A figure stepped in front of him. Slick suit. Sleazier grin.
âDonât recognize you,â the man said. âYou from Madripoor?â
âUh-huh,â Eddie said, lying through his teeth. âFreelanceâŠbiotech consultant.â
âFunny. You look like a guy with a criminal record and an alien problem.â
âMAY WE EAT HIM NOW?â
âShut up,â Eddie hissed under his breath.
The manâs eyes narrowed. âWhat did you just say?â
âGas,â Eddie said. âI have⊠IBS. Real bad.â
âWE COULD VOMIT ON HIM TO SEAL THE LIE.â
Y/Nâs laughter came through the earpiece like warm silk. âYou are so bad at undercover.â
âIâm not exactly Bond here, Stark!â
The man started reaching for his side holster.
âHE IS REACHING. WE DO NOT LIKE THAT.â
âYeah, yeah, I see itââ
Before things exploded, Venom burst from Eddieâs back like a pissed-off shadow. A tendril slapped the manâs weapon away and launched him into a wall with a satisfying crunch.
âTARGET NEUTRALIZED. FUN LEVEL: 6 OUT OF 10.â
Screams erupted. Security surged forward.
Eddie turned and ran.
âExit plan?â he shouted into the comm.
âWindow. North hallway. Jump.â
âThatâs not a plan, thatâs a death wish!â
âWE LOVE JUMPING.â
Venom erupted fully now, wrapping around Eddie and launching them through the hallway. Bullets pinged off the suit as they crashed through the window, glass shattering into the neon night.
They landed hard on a rooftop. Eddie rolled, groaning, as Venom retracted just enough for him to breathe.
Then she was there.
Y/N, standing across the rooftop, wind whipping through her hair, one hand in her coat pocket like this was just a Tuesday night.
âYouâre late,â she said again.
Eddie dragged himself upright. âYou really like saying that.â
âI really like seeing you sweat.â
âSHE IS FLIRTING AGAIN. DO THE THING.â
âWhat thing?!â
âKISS HER.â
Eddie turned beet red. âNo. Absolutely not.â
Y/N took a step closer, eyes locked on his.
âTell your plus-one if he keeps making kissy noises in your head, Iâll blast him with a sonic cannon.â
ââŠWE WILL BEHAVE.â
She smirked.
Then she reached into her coat, pulled out a thermos, and tossed it at him.
âChamomile. For your nerves,â she said. âYouâve earned it.â
Eddie caught it, dumbfounded.
âYou brought me tea?â
âIâm not a monster, Brock.â
He cracked a smile. âYouâre something else, Stark.â
Y/N gave him one last look, then turned and walked toward the edge of the roof, disappearing into the dark with nothing but the scent of ozone and confidence.
âWE SHOULD HAVE KISSED HER.â
âIâm working on it, alright?â
âââ
Eddie was starting to think this whole mission was a bad idea. Not because of the top-secret blacksite, or the bio-mutated symbiotes screaming like sirens in the wallsâbut because Y/N Stark, standing beside him in all-black tactical gear, had just whispered in his ear:
âFollow my lead. And stop looking like youâre two seconds from spontaneous combustion.â
âI am combusting. You wore eyeliner.â
Y/N gave him a sidelong glance. âFocus, Brock. Or Iâll tell Venom what you really said about pineapple pizza.â
âHE SAID IT WAS DELICIOUS. BETRAYAL.â
Eddie hissed under his breath. âSnitch.â
They were walking through the Lazarus Facility, an offshore lab posing as a hydroelectric research site. Underneath the clean, tech-filled surface was a horror show: mutated proto-symbiotes locked in cryotubes. Tech that looked Stark-made. Screams that didnât sound human.
Y/N moved with purpose. In this environment, she was untouchableâelegant, lethal, all fire and calculation. She hacked into a secured vault with two fingers and a deadpan look.
âYouâre too good at this,â Eddie muttered.
âI built half this security, remember?â
âSHE IS BRILLIANT. LETâS PUT HER IN OUR MOUTH.â
Eddie: âNo. Not the time.â
They reached the central chamberâdark, humming, lined with tanks full of twitching things that mightâve once been symbiotes.
Eddie stopped. Venom growled.
âTHEY ARE WRONG. IMPURE. THIS IS BLASPHEMY.â
âY/N,â Eddie said, tension crawling up his spine, âthese things are⊠aware.â
One of the pods cracked.
A creature lunged inside its tankâhumanoid, glitching with raw data, its face flickering between different Stark team profiles.
It looked almost like Eddie.
Then it whispered: âHost⊠not compatibleâŠâ
Y/Nâs face went pale.
âSomeoneâs feeding them genetic data. My files. Your scans. Theyâre building hybrids that learn.â
Then a voice echoed overhead:
âWelcome back, Stark.â
A figure stepped out onto the catwalk. Slim. Smirking. Wearing a prototype symbiote suit with a corrupted arc reactor embedded in the chest.
âYou left me behind,â they said. âNow Iâm rewriting evolution.â
Y/Nâs eyes went cold. âJackson.â
Jackson Carter. Former Stark intern. Left behind during the Sokovia evacuation. Everyone thought he was dead.
He wasnât.
Heâd been growing. Fusing. Twisting.
Eddie stepped forward.
âYou need to shut this down before these things start multiplying.â
Jackson laughed. âItâs too late. The Lazarus strain is self-replicating. Soon thereâll be thousands. And theyâll all obey me.â
âYOU DISGUST US. LET US BITE HIS FACE.â
Jackson launched himself at themâsymbiote limbs lashing out. Eddie and Venom merged in one fluid snarl, catching a strike before it could impale Y/N.
The lab erupted in chaos.
Tanks shattered. Creatures shrieked. Y/N fired off pulse blasts while Eddie fought a trio of goo-hybrids crawling on the ceiling.
âLEFT! LEFT! PUNCH THAT ONEâS SPLEEN!â
âI donât think they have spleens!â
âTHEN GUESS! HIT EVERYTHING!â
The chamber was collapsing. Alarms blared. Lightning cracked from an exposed reactor.
Y/N slid beside Eddie, breathing hard. âBlow the core. We end this now.â
He stared at her. âYouâll be caught in the blastââ
âIâve got a way out. Do you?â
He gritted his teeth. âYou better.â
Venom launched them both toward the central reactor. Y/N hacked while Eddie held the creatures off. Sparks rained like fire. One claw came too closeâY/N gaspedâ
Eddie moved before thinking. Took the hit. Hit the floor hard.
Blood. Pain. Blurred vision.
Y/N screamed something he couldnât hear.
Then her face hovered over his. She was touching his face, eyes full of panic and fury.
âYou idiot,â she whispered. âYou jumped in front of me.â
âYeah,â he said weakly. âStupid⊠heroic stuff.â
âWE HATE THIS. TOO MUCH BLEEDING.â
Y/N pressed a patch to his side. âHold still.â
âAre we gonna die?â Eddie muttered.
âNot tonight.â
She activated the failsafe. The reactor detonated in a white-hot blast of lightâ
âand the world vanished.

Eddie blinked awake. Pain in his side. Warm blanket. The scent of antisepticâŠand vanilla?
Y/N was sitting beside him, hair messy, bruised but alive.
âYouâre awake.â
He tried to smirk. âWasnât gonna die before our first kiss.â
She rolled her eyesâbut her hand slid over his.
âDonât push your luck, Brock.â
âKISS. NOW. DO IT. DOOOOââ
Y/N leaned down and kissed him, soft, warm, with just enough pressure to shut Venom up.
It worked.
ââŠOH. OH. THAT WAS⊠NICE.â
Eddie blinked. âAre you okay?â
Y/N smiled. âAsk me again when youâre shirtless and conscious.â
He groaned.
âIâm never gonna survive you, am I?â
Y/N kissed his forehead.
âNope.â
âââ
âYou realize this looks like a date, right?â Eddie muttered as he followed Y/N Stark into the rooftop restaurant overlooking Manhattan.
âItâs not a date,â she replied, gliding through the room like she owned the placeâwhich, technically, she did. âItâs a post-mission debrief. Over overpriced pasta. With wine. And me in a dress.â
She was in a dress. A black satin number that made Eddieâs brain short-circuit. He was in a pressed shirt and jacket he hadnât worn since his last court summons. Venom had preened in the mirror for fifteen minutes.
âWE LOOK DELICIOUS. THE WAITRESS IS STARING. SHE SMELLS LIKE CUCUMBER SOAP.â
âStop talking about peopleâs soap,â Eddie whispered under his breath.
Y/N glanced over her shoulder, amused. âVenom narrating your inner monologue again?â
âHe thinks the waitress wants to eat us.â
She slid into their private booth. âSheâd have to get in line.â
âWE LIKE HER.â
Eddie sat across from her, trying not to squirm as she handed him the wine menu like this was totally normal and not a giant public Are We Or Arenât We event.
âLetâs talk Lazarus,â she said, sipping her wine with casual grace. âWe neutralized the clones, Jacksonâs in containment, and Stark Industries is officially wiping the Lazarus tech off the grid.â
âGreat. So why am I here?â
She tilted her head. âMaybe I wanted to see if you can sit through one dinner without punching someone.â
Eddie leaned forward. âYou sure this isnât a date?â
She smirked. âDoes it feel like one?â
Pause. Beat.
Too much eye contact. Not enough breathing.
âIT FEELS LIKE SOMETHING. WE HAVE IDEAS.â
The waiter appeared like a ghost, breaking the tension. âAnything to start?â
Y/N barely looked up. âTwo Negronis. Truffle gnocchi. Extra bread.â
Eddie blinked. âDid you just order for me?â
âYou trust me with global weapons contracts but not carbs?â
Fair.
Dinner arrived. They bantered through the mealâflirting disguised as arguments, compliments buried under sarcasm. Y/N licked sauce off her thumb and Eddie momentarily forgot his own name.
Across the room, someone took a picture.
Eddie stiffened. âWeâre being watched.â
Y/N didnât even look. âLet them. Everyone thinks we hate each other. Thisâll confuse the hell out of them.â
âWE SHOULD WAVE. AND THEN LICK HER.â
âNo licking!â
She raised a brow. âExcuse me?â
âNot you. Him. Sorry. Symbiote nonsense.â
The photo-taker approached. Guy in a blazer, too confident.
âY/N Stark?â he asked. âCan I get a photo with you?â
Eddie tried to stay calm, but the guy was lingering. Way too close.
Y/N smiled politely. âIâm off the clock.â
Blazer Guy ignored her tone. âJust a quick oneââ
Eddie stood. âShe said no.â
The man scoffed. âWho the hell are you?â
âWE ARE PROTECTION. BACK OFF.â
Venom flared out of Eddieâs shoulder just enough to flash teeth. The guy practically tripped over himself backing up.
The restaurant went quiet for half a second.
Y/N sipped her wine like nothing happened. âYou couldnât go one dinner, could you?â
Eddie sat back down, flushed. âHe was harassing you.â
She tilted her head, softer now. âAnd you defended me.â
Beat.
Then she smiled, slow and real. âMaybe it is a date.â
Eddieâs heart stopped.
âKISS HER. ON THE MOUTH. NOW. DO IT.â
Instead, he grinned. âSo what happens after this strictly professional dinner?â
Y/N leaned forward, eyes gleaming. âWe go back to the Tower. I brief Pepper. You ice your ribs. Then maybeâif you ask nicelyâIâll let you touch my tech vault.â
Eddie blinked. âIs that a metaphor?â
She smirked.
âGuess youâll find out.â
âââ
Y/N walked out of the debrief room, her heels quiet against Stark Towerâs polished floors. The lights had dimmed for the night, casting long shadows through the glass corridors. She was bone-tired. Her braid was slipping. Her brain was buzzing with everything Pepper had just grilled her on.
And she definitely wasnât thinking about Eddie.
Definitely not.
Exceptâ
Except there was a voice from the hallway.
âHey.â
She turned, and he was there. Half-lit by the corridor glow, still in the button-down from dinner, jacket slung over his shoulder like he didnât know what to do with his hands. Eddie Brock looked like he wanted to say five things and didnât know how to say any of them.
âDidnât think you were still here,â she said, calm but curious.
He scratched the back of his neck. âYeah. I, uh⊠I was gonna leave.â
âBut?â
He looked around. Took a step closer.
âBut Venom yelled at me for twenty straight minutes and now I think Iâm legally required to talk to you.â
âTELL HER YOU LOVE HER. NOW. DO IT. SPIT IT OUT, YOU USELESS MEAT SACK.â
Y/N raised an eyebrow. âOh? You and your plus-one had a heart-to-heart?â
âShe called it an intervention.â
âYES. BECAUSE YOU ARE PATHETIC. LOOK AT HER. SHE IS SHINY AND POWERFUL. PERFECT FOR NESTING.â
âNesting?â Y/N echoed, blinking.
Eddie groaned. âIgnore that part.â
There was a pause.
He stepped closer. Not touching, not yet, but just inside that dangerous space where the air between them felt electric.
âIâm not good at this,â Eddie said quietly. âAny of this. The hero stuff. The team stuff. The dinner-thatâs-not-a-date-but-definitely-was kind of stuff.â
Her lips twitched. âYouâre better at it than you think.â
He looked at her like he was seeing the whole galaxy in one person.
âYou scare the hell out of me,â he admitted.
âAnd yet, here you are.â
âYeah.â His voice dropped. âBecause I canât stop thinking about you. Youâre in my head and in my space and somehow Venom likes you more than he likes me, which is insane.â
âBECAUSE SHE IS SUPERIOR. WE WANT HER TO BE OUR QUEEN. MAKE HER PANCAKES. HOLD HER HAND. LICK HER FACE.â
Eddie winced. âPlease donât do any of those things.â
Briefly putting aside the fact that Eddie Brock has never been a good judge of character once in his life, the implication that Eddie just casually brought up Moon Knight to his kid is really funny to me. "Well son, another day of being tormented by The Visions and The Voices. You know, if you ever have any trouble with that, you can go to to this guy I know. He won't be able to help at all but he will, like, sympathize."
if you went back in time to the 70s and told a Spider-Man fan that Mary-Jane would be fostering Venom's son they'd say "who the fuck is Venom?" because it was the 70s
