Church of the former Convent of Our Lady of Conception in Beja (Alentejo region, Portugal), founded in the 15th-century, now the Queen Leonor Museum: Although the architectural structure of the church is predominantly Gothic, with Manueline (Portuguese late Gothic) influences, the decoration of the chancel includes gilded woodwork elements that display the opulence characteristics of the Baroque and Rococo styles.

St. Patrick's Cathedral, Manhattan (No. 2)
The original chancel and high altar, donated by Cardinal McCloskey, was three steps above the sanctuary floor and contained a platform of richly colored marble. The altar was made in Rome and designed in the Italian Gothic style. The altar steps intersected a marble tabernacle inlaid with precious stones and mosaics. Three bas-reliefs on the sides and front of the altar were carved in white marble. The archbishop's pulpit, on the north side of the altar, was made of wood. In 1885, a Gothic-style octagonal pulpit was installed at the south side of the high altar. Weighing 16 short tons (14 long tons; 15 t) and measuring 14 feet (4.3 m) tall, the pulpit was made mostly of Carrara marble, except for six supporting pillars, which were made of Vienna marble. A heavy marble balustrade with carved panels surrounded the main pulpit, which itself was accessed by six marble steps. The altar was compared to a wedding cake when it was first consecrated. In 1930, a 50-foot-long (15 m) marble altar rail was designed by Robert J. Reiley and installed in front of the altar. The rail had carvings of saints.
