What are your thoughts on how often you can call upon the gods? Lately I’ve been starting each day by asking Hades and Persephone what they want me to focus on for that day, and doing a tarot reading. This has been a pretty successful form of communication for us so far, but I’m worried if I reach out to them every morning and meditate on them every night (as I’m doing now) that’ll be too much and I’ll annoy them. What do y’all think?

My advice for any beginning witch is to practice opening up your intuition through meditation/writing/ecstatic dance/whatever other trance method works best for you. The point is to learn to alter your consciousness to better access your intuition.
I think of accessing intuition as an important way to make magic work, because my understanding of magic is as a way to alter my beliefs about myself in order to impact how I in turn impact the rest of the universe. I also use intuition to communicate with spirits/deities/the universe and to decide what new directions to take my practice.
Making personal associations: how do you feel about particular spices, herbs, crystals, and colors? What feelings come up when you observe or touch the items you are drawn to? What items feel like they have energetic connections to each other? Try holding something and meditating (or entering a trance state through any other method) and letting associations emerge. This may be more useful information for your practice than memorizing a list of herbs and the correct associations that Joe Shmo published on his blog and then sold as a book.
There is no need to collect deities to worship or fancy tools to use or put on your altar. You can be pagan with no deities or fancy tools at all. You can channel energy through almost any object or just your body and the earth and universe around you.

I am a new witch and I don't know exactly what I'm doing with magic, but I want to share what I've learned throughout my journey and grow in my practice.
My name is Ari and my pronouns are they/it/xe, but he and she are alright, just not preferred. I have been interested in practicing magic for a few months now. I don't talk about it a lot with my friends and it's more of a private practice currently. I am not affiliated with a religion as of right now and for the foreseeable future I shall be without a religious group.
I have some beliefs that are the basis of my other beliefs:
All creatures, plants, places, and objects that have come from things once living have spiritual power and importance.
All creatures are worthy of dignity and respect.
Every person should be allowed to make choices that feel best for them, as long as it harms no one else or themselves.
No person has the right to restrict people's right to express themselves as they wish unless it harms another person.
The right to choose what to do with one's body is an inalienable right.
Everything and everyone deserves to be respected.
Human-made places frequently have no true soul; it is in the natural world that a spirit is found.
Unless a human does irreparable damage toward another human or animal, souls do not die, though they may transfer to another dimension or plane of existence. Undue cruelty kills souls.
If you are a practicing witch, I would be curious to learn what you do in your practice, if you are willing to share.
If you are a pagan, I would like to learn about your religion and your religious practices if you are willing to share.

In case any witchy person needs flowers for their spells, try contacting your local flower shop and asking if you can buy old or wilted flowers. Flowers have a finite shelf life and you can support a local business while you are at it!
Sometimes I doubt my craft. I know we aren’t supposed to. But with my anxiety, it just happens sometimes. I try to control it as much as possible. But a couple days ago, something happened that made me realise that if I ever doubt, I can think of this one little thing. I was messing around with my pendulum and I asked one simple question. Will I have a good day today. It told me yes. So I was like “awesome. I’ll have a good day today” and went to work. Work was average so I started thinking, how is this good? It’s boring and I’m getting tired of it. Later into my shift I get a call. They found our dog Lucky frozen to the ground. He was still alive though. Lucky is 17 years old and ran off over a week ago. We thought he went to die without us seeing. But they found him. And he was alive. Though he’s still in pretty bad shape, that little fucker is alive. I realised then that that was my part of the day that would be good. The news hearing that they found my 17 year old dog alive. I realised that if I ever doubt, I can just think back to this and life will be good.
Hello! I've had the strong desire to practice magic for as long as I can remember and am currently the last living member of my family that I know of who is still interested in Green Magic. This is a different path than what previous witches in my family have practiced but I am the most drawn to this path and its ideals as well as the connection to the Earth its associated with.
