andreil // chapter 1/1 // 3.2k // post-canon // healing and fluff and smut
Andrew pinches Neil's chin between his finger and thumb, heat blooming under his skin. âYou did make it.â Neil's gaze drops as he sucks in a breath. âLook at meââ Andrew jerks his face, and Neil's blue eyes find his again. âYou did make it. And that's everything.â
Neil stills.
Breath steady.
His mouth curls on one side, splitting into a small grin.
âSo sentimental.â
âShut up."
Or: Neil and Andrew chase the blues away with soft touches and intimacy.
what do we think about mamma mia au but is andreil getting married and kevin, the best man, decided to invite (in secret) andrew's family wich he don't talk with for >>YEARS<< then aaron, nick, erick and maybe kate get there and neil begin to fight for his lifes because ???? should he tell andrew??? does he keep a secret until kevin tell him by himself??? does he just let andrew figure it out???
he kinda end up letting kevin deal with his shit by himself.
There's Something About You - Andreil - 1.7k - chaotic song inspired one shot
There's something about you and I don't know what.Â
Neil had never had neither the time nor the energy for music. He'd recognize extremely popular songs that he and his mom would hear on the radio whenever they got into a car and needed to pretend to be normal. The same pop songs sometimes were also played in malls or supermarkets but Neil had never had a head for lyrics and he didn't find that kind of music very enjoyable anyway.Â
Andrew knew this. Neil would share small details about his life on the run and every piece would click into place in Andrew's mind, forming a large picture of those tragic chapters in Neil's life.Â
Neil's life was still tragic, but at least he didn't have to use all his mental energy in trying to stay alive.Â
Which is why Andrew introduced him to music. Basically all music as Neil hadn't known of the existence of anything but generic, chewed out, sparkly pop, and despite not considering himself a connoisseur, Andrew at least had more taste than that.Â
Andrew gave Neil an old mp3 player for him to take on his runs, filled with Andrew's favorite songs.Â
Unfortunately, Nicky took it upon himself to 'update' Neil's mp3 with something that wasn't 'played by a dead guy or someone who wished he was dead' which Andrew thought was unfair because he didn't see how could purely electronic music could sound like death. Still, he wasnât about to fight Nicky over such nonsense.
But Neil didn't seem to mind, he let Nicky put anything in there as long as he didn't bother Neil with stories about the personal lives of the musicians or their celebrity partners.Â
So it wasn't unusual to hear Neil mumble a song under his breath every once in a while.Â
I can't keep straight when I look into your eyes.Â
Neil made himself a pre-workout shake in the kitchen while Andrew drank coffee in the living room.Â
"You know how to play it right, yeah you took me by surpriseâŚ"Â
Andrew would have asked Neil what song that was since it sounded more like a pop punk, Blink-182, Taking Back Sunday kind of song than Nicky's usual repertoire, but the lyrics were so bad he didn't even think he wanted to know.Â
"The way you're talking sounds like it's another long nightâŚ"Â
Yeah, Andrew didn't wanna know. He watched Neil in his running shorts and t-shirt, armbands secured and hair still messy from bed, and sipped his coffee peacefully.Â
"Yeah your mustache tickles my nutsack baby you know that's fine with meâŚ"Â
Andrew spat his coffee all over the floor.Â
Neil spun around and looked at the mess with wild eyes. "Shit, are you all right?"Â
Andrew coughed twice, putting the coffee cup down and trying to breathe normally again.Â
"I got it," Neil said as he jogged over with a bunch of paper napkins. "You spilled most of it. Want me to make you another one?"Â
Andrew shook his head and helped Neil clean up the mess while deciding he had misheard what Neil had sung. He must have. Neil had mumbled the words, barely intelligible, and Andrew's mind had filled in the blanks. That was all.Â
"Okay, I'm going. See you at practice later." Neil leaned over to kiss the top of Andrew's head, earning himself an annoyed look from Andrew that he answered with a smile.Â
Andrew waved at him before he closed the door, not yet ready to talk after so little coffee and nearly choking to boot.Â
.Â
"You say you wanna cover my face with love so maybe, Iâll find out and seeâŚâ
Neil was singing the song, again.Â
He repeated the parts Andrew had already heard, but when it came to the part that nearly had him drowning, Neil walked into the bathroom and Andrew couldnât hear a thing. Not that it bothered him, something so stupid wasnât about to ruffle his metaphorical feathers.
He returned to his book, trying to get rid of his homework before the weekend since he wanted to go to Columbia.Â
Minutes later, Neil walked out of the bathroom, silently getting ready for his afternoon classes.Â
âWant anything from the store when I get back?â Neil asked, bag in hand and tragically large clothes hanging off his body.
âCereal. Weâre out.â
Neil nodded and this time merely smiled as a goodbye before leaving.Â
But outside the door, Andrew heard it.Â
âSo throw it back, yeah, just like that, you know just how to do it, that ass is fatâŚâ
His voice was becoming quieter, but Andrew pushed off his desk and sprinted to the door as fast as possible. He threw it open but it was too late; Neil was gone.Â
A student coming up the stairs froze when she saw Andrew there with a very plausible wild look on his face. He merely stared her down before spinning on his heel and slamming the door behind him.Â
.
About two weeks went by where Andrew didnât hear Neil sing the song again. Heâd almost forgotten about it, even though every now and then the quiet echo of Neilâs voice saying âthat ass is fatâ bounced inside Andrewâs brain and made him feel like he was losing his mind.Â
That Friday night the Foxes had won their first game of the season, and as usual, they celebrated down in the basements. Neil was in an insufferable good mood and let himself be dragged down and even had a couple of shots. Andrew left right away, but he could tell by the way Neil moved that he wasnât 100% sober. Andrew wasnât either, evidenced by the slowly emptying bottle between his feet.Â
But they were both back in their dorm and that was all that mattered.Â
Neil decided they needed food and set out to make sandwiches which promised to be awful. Andrew distracted himself meanwhile by ripping off the whiskey bottleâs label and methodically rolling tiny paper balls to hit Neil with.Â
Neil paid him no mind, which was the opposite of what Andrew wanted, but heâd come around soon enough.Â
â-...we can go fast, we can take it slow, got your claw in my back Iâm your little hoeâŚâÂ
Andrew stopped, frozen with a paper ball in between his fingers. What the fuck.
âHe spreads my cheeks and he makes me scream, heâs my number one daddy gonna make him cream inside of me⌠just keep riding meâŚâ
Every word was like a punch to Andrewâs gut and he briefly wondered if this was karma getting him back for swinging that racket at Neil when they met. Good thing he didn't believe in karma.Â
He wanted to ask Neil what the fuck was happening, but his mouth seemed useless. And when his shock and confusion started to decrease, Neil started again.
âWhen Iâm slurping him down itâs my favorite sound, you let out a little moan, what a beautiful tone so softly⌠just keep riding meâŚâ
He wasnât sure what part of it was, but something finally made Andrew react, and he got off the couch and strode purposefully towards Neil. Neil, of course, heard him coming and spun around to face him. âWant mustard in yours?â
Andrew probably got too close into Neilâs space to be perceived as casual, but Neil didnât seem to mind. âWhat the fuck are you singing?â
Neil cocked his head to the side. âWhat? That song from before? I donât know, it was in my mp3.âÂ
Andrew looked into Neilâs stupid, currently dopey, blue eyes and considered him. He was an idiot and he was going to be the death of Andrewâs sanity, and at various points in the past Andrew actually thought he might be the most clueless person in the world, but despite everything, he knew Neil wasnât actually a fool. He just liked acting like one.
âDo you know it? Itâs the one that goes⌠So letâs go talk about it, you look so sexy when your hands are wrapped around it,â
âShut up-â Andrew wrapped his hands around Neilâs upper arms in warning.
âFlip me over beat my meat up while you pound it, while you pound itâŚ.â
His ears felt hot and he was sure his face had gone an embarrassing shade of red and he couldnât remember the last time that had happened.Â
He tightened his grip on Neil.Â
âYou got a way with the words and a big fat co-â
Andrew covered Neilâs mouth with his hand, a strange and thoroughly unfamiliar mix of anger and embarrassment swirling inside him.Â
Neil looked at him for a second, and then started laughing behind Andrewâs hand. The sound was muffled and his skin vibrated with it, but with each passing second Neil laughed more and more and Andrew took too long to realize Neil had been fucking with him for weeks.Â
âYouâŚâ Andrew didnât even know what insult to throw at him. He just kept hearing Neilâs voice say all those things and felt his ears get hot all over again.Â
Tears were forming at the corner of Neilâs eyes. Andrew had never seen him laugh so much. It was making him feel twice as embarrassed, but also⌠lighter somehow.Â
Infected with something disgusting.Â
Andrew snorted, the sound loud and unexpected even to his ears. It shook Neil out of his laughter, eyes opening in interest.Â
Andrew schooled his face into a blank expression, not sure what emotion he was even showing anymore. He dropped his hand from Neilâs face.Â
âYou laughed,â Neil said. Not a question.Â
âI did not.âÂ
Neil was smiling, face flushed from laughing. He didnât move from where he was, didnât push it.Â
Andrew hated him.Â
âNever sing that song again,â he told Neil pointedly.
âOkay,â Neil answered easily. âIâll find something else that makes you laugh.âÂ
Andrew stared at him. Neil stared back.Â
âHurry up and come to the couch.â He turned and picked up the bottle from the floor before sitting back again.Â
Neil kept smiling and returned to the sandwiches. Andrew watched him, wondering if Neil Josten would ever stop surprising him.

Give Me Another Minute (to Lay Here in Your Echo) - an AFTG fic
Andrewâs version of events was grumbling at being woken, his idiotâs soft laugh, a kiss to his temple, falling back to sleep. It was Kevinâs alarm going off before Neil got back. It was making breakfast with still no sign of him. It was listening to Kevin complain about being late to the gym. It was the sound of the dial tone again and again as Neil didnât answer even though he never went running without his phone these days. It was seeing blood on the sidewalk just a few yards from the Maserati. It was feeling the earth ripped out from under foot.
A year post-canon, when they thought they were safe, Neil goes missing for 8 days.
Read on AO3.
Day 8.
Andrew and Aaron are at odds again, Kevin wants to stretch his spine a little and Neil threatens to kill people.

Summary:
Itâs a community service event at some garden. Some publicity stunt the board wants them to do for good exposure â improving upon the teamâs image, Andrew thinks, especially after the events of last year. While the rest of the team reluctantly goes through the motions, no one can top Andrew in his apathy towards it. But when Neil begins to show interest in a certain pet project, Andrew finds himself reacting in ways he never predicted possible.
Aka: a slice of life with the Foxes where growing is hard, healing is messy, and sometimes words arenât enough.
5 times Andrew Minyard admitted he feels + 5 times he didnât
Itâs not in the way Neil looks at Andrew with his blue, blue, so extremely fucking blue eyes sporting pupils blown wide that makes Andrewâs stomach pang with something he couldnât quite place.
Itâs not the fact that Neil has these beautiful, slender piano player hands that thread through Andrewâs hair and tug just hard enough not to hurt but to still pull low groans from Andrewâs throat in a way that no one had ever done before that made Andrew wish he was better at articulating his feelings.
Andrew promised himself that watching Neil slink around the kitchen of the Colombia house in the morning after a rare night where they had the house to themselves in nothing but a foxes hoodie with his number plastered on the back Andrew knew wasnât issued to the team and had to be bought from a merch stand had nothing to do with the tight curl of what could be called contentment pooling in his stomach.
In all the ways Andrew Minyard values honesty it seems he canât be honest with himself. Bee tells him as much, a little more carefully worded and wound into something he could digest right in a very slow way, words he would have to let sit with him. Andrew couldnât find the words to respond. He was getting better at speaking up about things he liked, better than he was months ago as Neil nipped at his throat and ran his warm hands over Andrewâs shoulders and Andrew had liked it so much he made Neil stop. Andrew also knew Bee was right in the way Andrew knew he loved Neil, never to be acknowledged.
The lying continued as he told himself he didnât enjoy waking up next to Neil and realizing he slept peacefully after months of working up to sleeping in the same bed with Andrewâs arm stretched over Neil. Andrew told himself he hated the way the sunlight seemed to set the halo of hair spilled across Neilâs pillow on fire and cast shadows across his face due to the dark, thick eyelashes and sharp angles of Neilâs unreasonably pretty face.
In the way all things do, the lying stopped gradually. Bee had called each step towards admitting Neil was part of what kept his world in orbit with the way Neil checked up on how Andrew was feeling mentally, as well as physically in a way he was only ever asked by Wymack, Kevin, Abby or Bee. Kevin used only ask because he wanted to know if Andrew could play but like the way Andrew stopped lying about how he felt about Neil to himself, Kevin gradually started asking how Andrew was because he cared for more than exy or Andrewâs game. Neil wasnât Andrewâs answer but he sure as hell made it easier to find one.
The first time Andrew admitted how he felt to Neil was when he told him that he liked the way Neil looked, liked the way he spoke, and liked the way he stopped when Andrew asked and Neil looked surprised, looked almost scared. It made Andrew wonder if Neil was unaware of how disgustingly beautiful he was. He has asked Andrew if he was okay, like he was worried was going to blow away into the wind or off the top of the fox tower. Andrew then realized that Neil might have taken the compliments as his own version of âyou were amazing.â
The second time was after Neil had blown him in the shower of the Colombia house and as the water ran down Neilâs body and droplets dripped down off of his chin as he angled his face up into the spray and the words âWell, that wasnât nothing,â slipped from Neilâs mouth like how he might in the cramped combined bath and shower if he wasnât careful and Andrew had in turn, responded with the fact that no, that wasnât nothing. If his usual apathetic drawl was tinged with arousal and something neither could quite place no one mentioned it.
The third time was when Andrew realized he would rather be at the Colombia house with Neil instead of the Edenâs surrounded by thumping bass of the club music and had decidedly told Neil as much, Neil had tentatively asked if he could sit in Andrewâs lap as Andrew licked into Neilâs mouth and kissed the life out of him in the sticky table booth of their regular spot at Edenâs.
The fourth time is after a long, hard game against the Trojans that left both teams sore and exhausted. The foxes came away with a win and a serious need for ice baths and to roll out their muscles. Andrew watched as Neil giggled about Mattâs incredulous expression as he watched Andrew sink into the ice bath the whole team was having to be subjected to as sports medicine majors milled about making sure the team had water and whatever fancy donated sponsor roll out tools they needed. The truth was that the freezing, constantly circulating water stung like a bitch but later that night as both men curled into bed together Andrew whispered that he liked when Neil giggled into the space between them.
The fifth time was during the middle of the night after Andrew had a nightmare that upset his stomach and Neil had grabbed the keys to the Maserati and led Andrew out the door. Andrew thought about how Neil just knew what to do when it came to Andrew. It had made him feel seen in ways no one ever saw him before. They had drove around until the radio blinked 3am and Andrew felt exhaustion finally creep back into his bones as Neil drove back to the dorm. Slinking up the stairs back to the monsters dorm Andrew caught Neilâs wrist and said, âI canât say it, so do make me. I do Neil. I do and you know what Iâm talking about.â The hardness in Andrewâs eyes softened when Neil responded with a soft, âI do too.â And allowed Andrew to tug them back to the dorm without another word.
