Unpopular opinion (probably) time!
A few fics tropes/concepts I find irritating so don't read:
- fics in which the women (usually Hermione or Ginny) are almost perfect and don't make any mistakes. I think writers of these fics think it's a feminist stance, when actually it just implies women shouldn't make mistakes.
- "wrong boy who lived" fics or fics in which Harry was brought up by his parents in a happy childhood. Call me morbid, but I like Harry who had a tough as heck upbringing.
- Remus and Sirius raising Harry fics
- fics that portray Harry as a bad husband or bad father
- Harry X Voldemort (um, what?)
- fics in which Hermione/Ginny/ another one of the women needs saving because it's damsel in distress vibes and they're not my thing
- fics in which Draco sacrifices his wellbeing or his life to save someone. He just wouldn't, because he is very selfish and that's a fundamental part of his character.
- fics in which Harry is fine and healthy whilst other characters have health issues or lasting injuries. It just doesn't make sense, since he's been more battered around than any of the others, especially as he becomes an auror. Like if other characters have damage, Harry DEFINITELY would.
There are plenty of other fics I don't read, too 😅
Of course everyone is welcome to write and read what they want! These were just concepts I likely wouldn't read haha
