Starting to try ramping up use of my hand again by finally finishing Anarie, who was mostly done when this all began. Woots! And look, finally it’s a drawing that the scanner didn’t really have any beef with.
I have long cherished a suspicion that elves don’t really think it’s vital that the king and queen be spouses, and that she remained High Queen of the Noldor in Aman while Finarfin was the High King and Fingolfin was off in Middle Earth. (I strongly suspect Earwen would Not Have Been Interested, and I also suspect that Indis wanted some time off; things having turned out badly. Personal headcanon is that Indis actually went to Miriel once that was an option again.)
But Anarie I think is very like her husband in the sense of being inclined towards ruling. It’s her skill and her nature, and I think a sense of responsibility to their people who didn’t want to leave was a not-insubstantial reason behind why she stayed behind.
