The thing is I really think Thingol was an essential part of the Eldar ecosystem, so to speak, and his absence in Aman really upset that balance of power. With Ingwe retreating to Valimar, there was no one to push back against Finwe, no one he would listen to, no one who could approach him as friend and peer. Olwe's not an equal in the same way Thingol was, he's the Little Brother, the straggler, the fainthearted loiterer. It's easy then to paint the Teleri as inferior to the Noldor when on some level it's clear that your king doesn't entirely respect theirs, or at least doesn't hold him to be an equal.
And the inverse is true too! Thingol is able to establish himself as sole lord of all Beleriand because there's no one else who has the same power/resources/following as him. He spends thousands of years with no one to challenge his authority, and as the only substantial bulwark against Morgoth's creatures. Of course he grows prideful and domineering and heeds no one's counsel, not even his wife's who is a literal Angel!
Nostalgia
Galadriel with her Grandfather Olwe
I think Galadriel must have had many sweet memories of her youth and the sea.
Promt came from @holy-marmalade and this is for @tolkienseaweek
Tolkien: Elwe and Olwe had a brother called Elmo
Me: I am a serious adult taking things seriously
Me:
Me:
Earliest of the Eldar
Having so much fun with this style that I compulsively made the earliest elves.
+ a bonus Cirdan... cause he is a king in my mind, what a cutie. More to come... let's see how long I can keep this energy flowing.
Little shout out to @toothandtale and @smetakovec for their input on so much of my art.

1. Olwë, King of the Teleri in Aman 2. Eärendil with the Silmaril 3. High King Fingon Findekáno 4. Maedhros Russandol (ignoring the fact he has right hand again) 5. King Théoden of Rohan 6. Finwë, The First King of the Noldor 7. Nimloth, Queen of Doriath 8. Maeglin Lómion, Lord of the Mole
My chara-designs for the Teleri Royalty : Part 5
Olwë, Elmo and Círdan @sindarweek
I already drew Olwë's line with my House of Finwë so next will be Elmo's line with Galadhon (Celeborn's dad!) and Galathil (Celeborn's brother)
Olwë King of the Falmari
The Teleri uses red henna as a form of makeup to show their status, haven´t figured out a system for it yet, as well as to show marriage and other relations, although most of those would be hidden from plain view, so only the partner, who also draws them, can see them. They are mostly found on the back and thighs which can be seen when swimming or on hot summer days.
The Teleri are much more open with their bodies and showing skin than the Noldor. Still, they favor layered clothes, embroideries, usually depicting the sea, and jewelry, usually stones and shells from the sea or silver.
Unlike the Noldor, where it is seen as shameful to have loose hair, the Teleri don´t have any braiding customs, but they do value long hair and usually cover it up with hair nets and such, but rarely do they braid it. If cutting the hair it is merely a little strand and is given to friends or families who they won't see for some time, such as when going out to sea as a goodbye.
I need to make a fashion post for the Eldar of Valinor.
