Well I had this thing where I really didn't like calling all of the people i'm close with 'friends'. To me friends is frustratingly broad as a term, but I tend to think of friends as people I'm quite close too, think people I tend to go to when I feel down and need to vent about very personal things, like a breakup or a personal death in the family or just my inner thoughts. I know these people well enough where I know i'm not going to be judged no matter how insane my thoughts or ideas might be and they're going to support me. The same thing obviously happens the other way around!

But I have certain relationships I don't feel too comfortable sharing these deeper issues with. I wouldn't call them my acquantainces, either, because these people are close enough that I don't mind hanging out with them casually and I even want to hang out usually! It's just more casual.

So I ran into this issue where I have this gap in my language: what do I call someone who's closer than an acquaintance but not as close as a friend? Close aqcuaintance? Casual friend? I don't like that. I want one word to describe this reality, I want to economise language!

So I came up, in my daily life, with the word bienllevados (I'm spanish lol). In Spanish I define it as:

Alguien con quien te llevas bien aunque no es un amigo - Llevar Bien => Bienllevado

But I also wanted a term in English bc I talk in English everywhere, all the time. And I decided on wellknown: An acquaintance you know quite well but who you don't know well enough to be a friend!

Idk why I'm sharing this tbh but I also don't care, I hope all of you found this helpful or at least relatable.
