His later comments were oddly predatory, which didn’t help his case. He was later intimidated into deleting it.

My immediate thoughts go to musician AU, but I can't top yours, so instead you get an actor AU of some sort.

Buck doesn’t move to LA with the intention of being an actor. He's bartending when he meets Tommy, freshly out of the closet, and they start dating. It's amazing, and they're in love, and the only thing Buck could want is a job that pays a little more because Tommy has a cool job and his life together, and Buck feels like he deserves a partner on the same level as him.

Buck's roommate suggests he go to a few casting calls because he has the face for it. He gets a few call backs, a few bit parts, before someone calls him for a lead role in a limited series. The production has a shoe string budget, but a compelling story (think something along the lines of Heated Rivalry).

It's a huge success - way more popular than anyone could have anticipated, and Buck is suddenly stuck in the spotlight a way he'd never expected. His DMs are exploding, he's getting contacted by all manner of news outlets, and invited to all kinds of events. He doesn't have a manager, or at least not one who knows what to do with this volume of work.

Tommy's a rock at the start, a place Buck can hide away when it gets to be too much. But Buck is also the kid who grew up feeling like no one wanted him, and a part of him adores the attention and the spectacle.

Tommy, who's spent his whole life hiding his sexuality, and prefers to be left alone, doesn't want the attention. He draws the line when paparazzi show up at his house, demanding to know his sexuality and his relationship with Buck. He issues the ultimatum that Buck has to step back from the spotlight or let Tommy go.

Buck and Tommy break up, Buck struggles without a grounding presence, and then the internet sleuths unearth the true about the Buckley family and Daniel, and Maddie's situation with Doug. Buck has a breakdown and runs away from it all.

CEJ: former teen actor "J", stopped acting 8~ years ago. Currently working as a manager for a small talent agency. Since he's been out of the spotlight for 8 years, people don't recognize him anymore but he still tries to keep a low profile. The plot gets kicked off when the CEO of the talent agency he works for runs off after embezzling basically all of the agency's money and leaving CEJ suddenly in charge. A bunch of coincidences lead to CEJ and LSY meeting which results in the ✨Pado talent agency✨ buying out Eui-Jae's agency and absorbing it. Cue CEJ running around looking after all his former trainees/actors/musicians plus all the new Pado Agency actors plus also roping himself into basically being LSY's secretary.

LSY: President of the Pado Talent Agency. Former child model. Founded the Pado Agency to support J when he returned to acting. Knows that CEJ is J but is keeping it quiet until CEJ is ready to return to acting.

Road managers: Seo Min-Gi and Choi Go-Yo

Jung Bin: Actor at the Hunter Agency (President is Ham Seok-Jeong) started his career on the same project that made J famous. Purposefully keeps his distance from CEJ so he doesn't get dragged back into the spotlight.

Hong Ye-Seong: songwriter in a long term contract with the Hunter Agency

Yoon Ga-Eul: actor trainee at CEJ's old agency that transferred over to Pado with CEJ

Honeybee: Actor/Model at the HB Agency (Mok Tae-Oh is the president).
