PORTLAND, OR—The North Atlantic Treaty Organization, or NATO, held its February 2026 summit, with world leaders representing America, Israel, Qatar and Turkey, among others.
I don't know the full details, but NATO set down these objectives in advance.
Defense Procurement: Turkey is projected to acquire Eurofighter Typhoon jets, with assistance in negotiations from Qatar. These jets may start arriving as early as February 2026, aimed at improving military capabilities.
Ankara (Turkey) maintains a key, complex role in regional stability, acting as a major arms exporter and, in some analyses, a potential player in post-conflict Gaza plans alongside Qatar.
Military Exercises & Role: Turkey is leading the NATO Amphibious Task Force Command and Landing Force Command through June 30, 2026. It is also participating in the Steadfast Dart 2026 exercise, which focuses on modern, independent defense industry capabilities.
Worldwide peace would be nice too, NATO. Where's that treaty?
