«I wondered what would happen if New York were bombed, if my house were bombed»
Hollywood actor Jesse Eisenberg survived one of the Russian airstrikes in Lviv. The star of "The Social Network" and "Now You See Me" secretly visited Ukraine to take part in a charity project for children affected by the war.
Eisenberg said he woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of an air raid siren and went down to a shelter with others. In the morning, upon seeing the aftermath of the Russian strike, the actor admitted he was shocked and, for the first time, felt acutely what Ukrainians are going through.
“We woke up to an air raid alarm, went down to the shelter, and in the morning I saw the aftermath of the shelling. It was devastating, horrific, outrageous, and tragic.
I wondered what it would be like if New York were bombed, or if my own home were bombed, because Lviv reminded me so much of the city where I live”
During his visit, the actor conducted acting workshops for children. In preparation for this trip, he spent nearly a year studying Ukrainian so that he could read the course materials independently.
