"That isn't necessary," Damian tells his friend for the fifth time in the past hour.
Colin is helping him patch up after a rough mission, but seems to keep trying to spread his love for themed band-aids to Damian. He's been putting them on all the smaller cuts and bruises he can see, but is now putting them over some of the larger bandages as well, even though they are useless there.
"That's not even touching my skin," Damian says, scowling at the Hello Kitty band-aid spread over the top of an ace bandage wrapped around his shoulder. "How is it supposed to help there?"
Colin just tuts at him, crinkling the leftover paper up. "It's about the feeling of a cool bandage, Dami. If it feels like it's going to help, then it will," he tells him sagely.
He's pretty sure that's bullshit and just an excuse to cover him in Hello Kitty faces, but he clicks his tongue and doesn't protest again.
"Alright, then," Colin sighs, looking him over with scrutinizing eyes. "Any more injuries you're keeping from me?"
Damian can't help but roll his eyes. He's learned over the years that trying to hide when he's ill or injured from Colin never ends well, so he's long past the point of lying to his friend. Honestly, Colin probably knows this too but just can't resist asking anyways.
"Only my poor heart breaking because you think I would keep things from you," he tells him with an extra flair of misery in his voice. He leans forward with a pout for good measure and it makes Colin laugh. Said 'poor, broken heart' skips a beat at the sound.
"Well, I suppose I should treat that too, shouldn't I?" The other teen says, a fond smile on his face as he reaches over for two more band-aids.
All Damian can do is hold his breath as his friend carefully places them both in an X shape on his chest, just over his heartbeat. His hands are gentle, they always are when he treats Damian even if he shakes a little sometimes. There's a moments pause where Colin's fingers linger just on the edge of the bandages, pressing just slightly against his skin.
When Colin starts leaning in, eyes cast downward to his hand, Damian's pretty sure his heart just completely stops. When Colin's lips press to the spot where his fingers were a moment ago, Damian's heart starts up again at a pace too fast to be healthy.
"...How's that?" his friend whispers, lifting his head to look at him from under his eyelashes- still staying close. "Good?"
Damian thinks, Oh God, oh fuck-I'm screwed. Damian says, "...Yeah...I think it's feeling better already."
