heyyy i know this is a uhhh late response but here!!! not pride, but something more personal. i started T a couple months ago and was inspired to draw this (due to my own anxiety) :^)) thus remembering this ask lol

my thoughts behind this: colin is terrified of needles. he has huuuuge amounts of medical trauma, and so the whole process of going on testosterone was already super daunting enough. getting his prescription every month and getting blood work done even through bruce's trusted sources (leslie), it's still a huge struggle. but despite it all, he wanted injections instead of gel. hes viewing it as... exposure therapy for himself, even against the suggestion of those closest to him.

hes successful sometimes. some days the simple euphoria of knowing hes becoming who he wants to be is enough to pass through the anxiety of the needle. but some days are harder than others. some days his past comes to haunt him, leaving his hands shaky and unable to pass through the mental block needed to pierce the needle through his skin.

when that happens, damian is always there. always there to guide colin through the panic and the tears, willing to lend a gentle and loving hand to ease his anxieties. when colin can't do it, damian will, and that goes for a lot of things even past this weekly ritual.

Especially seeing how I can see it working both ways for them! Do you have Colin as Elwes or Wright in this AU?

Oh, that's complicated, cause I see Colin as both Buttercup AND Westley but mostly Buttercup. Sorry for the late reply by the way, had a lot to think about.

So yes, I do have an AU concept (keyword being concept) in my mind based off the Princess Bride, but there are some changes.

I see Colin being a farm boy, St. Aden's being a farm. One day, when he was a kid (not sure whether to go with 10 or 13) a new boy came to work on the farm, but it would only be for the summer. Damian was a brat, and Colin didn't put up with his shit. They had a fist fight in the pig pen, and after that Damian was a lot calmer and respected Colin. When Colin told him to tend to the horses, to harvest the crops, to chop the wood, Damian would answer with "as you wish".

By the end of the summer, Colin was devasted that Damian was leaving. He knew it was stupid to think he was in love, but he really believed he loved Damian, and he wanted to believe that every time Damian said "as you wish" it was his way of returning his feelings. Especially when Damian asks if he can come back one day.

What Colin didn't know was that Damian was really a prince, sent to St. Aden's to learn humility and the lesson of hard work by his father. When he returned to his kingdom, he told his father that he met the boy who would be his husband. But when they journey back to St. Aden's with the royal convoy, they found the farm burned to the ground, the banner of the kingdom across the sea erected in its soil. They'd conquered the land on the edge of Damian's kingdom's territory, and declared war.

Damian as a character is often written awfully *cough* DCAMU *cough.* However, at his core, he is one of my favourite DC characters.

I love his Robin suit, his mild edginess, and his spiky hair.

Ships

Damijon - I love this one so much. My no 1 ship. I can accept them as just friends though too.

Daminika - Probs endgame in the current DC comic canon. Lowkey love it.

Damicolin - Underated. Better as friends but still a really sweet, rarepair.

Damirae - Ewww. Ewww. Eww. If you need my opinions on that, just search damirae on my blog. Its titled Damian ships or smthng.

Mantles

Robin - Love his 2nd suit (the current one.) Honestly one of the best robin suits. I quite like him as Robin tbh but I do feel like he needs to move on.

Batman - Oh helll nooo. Maybe only acceptable in a reverse robin au. Otherwise, it just is not it. Also, I hate his batsuit.

Other?? (Future) - Love the idea he ends up as crow. Honestly fits really well with his current suit. Would love to see it one day.

Headcanons

Has way too many pets - Oh he is an animal person alright. One of my fav genres of batfam tumblr posts is people making up new animal friends for him.

Doctor - So symbolic. His mama and both grandad's had medical degrees. Love it for him. Also as someone pointed out, he was trained to kill from birth, but would instead be saving lives. Also love the implication that he wouldn't have enough time to be a vigilante.

Jason and the league - Absolutely love the idea that Dami knew Jason pre Bruce. The idea that Damian at least knew someone when he came to Wayne manor is sweet. Talia knew he would be safe :)

Friends

Jon Kent - Supersons. If they aren't dating, they are honestly my favourite friend duo in the comics. Love it when they are in a trinity with either Lizzie Prince or Jack Kole.

Maya Ducard - Enemies to friends. Dami is definitely lowkey scared of her. She could and would beat him in a fight.

Irey and Jai West, Mari Grayson, and Lian Harper - oh this a pet peeve. I hate it when people pair them together. Damian is at least 5 years older than all 4 of them. It doesn't make sense for them to be friends. Like 11 year old Damian is not befriending babies and toddlers. I hate it when characters get their ages changed so they can be friends with others.

Others - There are so many so I will just list them.

Colin Wilkes, Suren Darga, Tai Pham, Jack Kole, Lizzie Prince, Chris Kent, Conrad Bishop, Milagro Reyes, Kathy Branden, Nika (Flatline), Rose Wilson, Connor Hawke, Ace West, and Maps Mizoguchi.

Notes

Oh that is another pet peeve. When DC retcons friendships. Oh, Suren and Damian? Cute. Who is Suren. Like I just got attached to this character and you've just got rid of them?

And another pet peeve. Obviously, you can write a character how you want, but I hate it when Dami is wrote to be rude. Not bratty, but outright rude. *cough* DCAMU *cough.*
