"Beat the dead horse" is to spend more time and energy on something that is already complete, especially in the form of arguing a point that has already been made. A dead horse cannot be punished further.

"Push someone's buttons" is to irritate and annoy someone, to provoke a reaction. Buttons are inputs to devices.

"Skate on thin ice" is acting in a dangerous manner, with the implication that if one does not stop immediately, they are liable to face serious consequences (analogous to falling through the ice on a pond).

"Beat around the bush" is to refuse to directly address a topic. It is making noise around prey hidden inside the bush, without actually attacking it.

"Putting in two cents" means to give someone one's opinion, which is "metaphorically" worth two cents.

"Knock it till I try it" is a phrase usually in the form "don't knock it until you try it" which is a truism that someone should not insult or disparage an activity or item until they actually experience it.

"Addressing the elephant in the room" is discussing a matter that everyone is aware of, but has hesitated to bring up. If an elephant is physically in a room, it would be large enough to dominate all attention, even when not discussed.
