On the last poll, which got over 7k responses, over 15% of readers admitted they won't even leave kudos on explicit works - which matched up with my own stats where the explicit rating will halve the engagement (but there's a huge uptick in private bookmarks). Let's see what the current feeling is.

“Goddess of the domestic and civic hearth, the home, sacred and sacrificial fire, virginity, family, and the state” = all tended fire, only a fire spirit now, the comforting glow of a hearth fire in traditional houses.

Her voice is heard in fireplaces, boiler pilot lights and ovens, incredibly wise and caring, like a grandma- gives out cooking recipes, and advice on how to fix a house or solve family disputes. 

Hephaestus.

“God of fire, volcanoes, metalworking, artisans, metallurgy, carpenters, forges, sculpting, and blacksmiths” = an infernal machine, the bastardisation of new industry, constantly turning & constantly working.

a server-switchboard-engine conglomerate machine, he can access anyone everywhere (in all god’s phone contacts or other networks they use (Apollo’s radio, Hermes’ bluetooth, etc.), moves through automatons - now modern days robots, so never really seen as he truly is. 

He rarely shows up (too busy at work), the cog and the machine of the other god’s business - Aphrodite’s assembly line of her ‘Kisse’ company, Dionysus’ accountant, wizard on computer coding (makes Lion and Wolf anti—virus software against Eris (goddess of discourse who’s having a blast as The Internet) - the one who does all the work in the background. creates only in what is commanded to him, not necessarily malicious but sadly modern times have made his creations seem wasteful and bad. can still make his everlasting powerful tools, but he’s been convinced to make things breakable and obsolete to keep sales going. 

Is said to have been forcefully paired with Aphrodite, but neither care for the marriage (represents the false industry of making money out of doing what you love - now just a sick tactic for productivity). both rarely see each other - leads to the affair between Aphrodite and Ares. 

TRUTH - his machine imagery is just a front, his true form is more human (a withered man with transtibial prosthesis (very talented in switching his legs for multiple functions), hand braces over his arms and hands, clearly suffers from chronic pain, similar to Athena) he works controlling his industry remotely - from his room in Aphrodite’s apartment which is full of overheating servers ( so hot it’s like being in a volcano). he saw the downfall of Athena and Apollo claiming their rightful recognition for their work (both of them suffer the fame and glory of their work), he doesn’t want it, allows Aphrodite to take charge of it all (he trusts her to have the confidence needed to control collateral damage)- he represents those who work in the backgrounds of large industries, suffering crunch culture and getting no recognition for it (whether they want it or not). 

His disability still suffers from old age discrimination - he never assaulted Athena, instead he cared for her health and advised she take more care of herself, Athena (still young at the time) was insulted and pushed him aside, this encounter was miscommunicated as an assault on Athena because of discomfort of Hephaestus impure form. now the pair of them bond over their chronic ailments, Hephaestus offering advice and medicine for her petrification.
