I want a friendship between Shane and Cliff Marleau (sort of like an extrovert adopts an introvert type of thing). Pre-outing, they’re close enough that Shane comes out to him.
“Hey,” Cliff says, suddenly struck with the best idea he’s ever had. “I think I know someone you’d get along great with.”
“Marleau, I’m not really looking—“
“No, no, trust me. He’s a good guy, and one of the best hockey players I’ve ever met—aside from you, of course.”
Shane isn’t sure where Cliff is going with this, but he does know he’s not interested in anyone but Ilya.
“I know you mean well but—“
“Rozanov,” Cliff announces, grin a mile wide, and Shane blinks. Cliff, for his part, is incredibly sure this is a good idea; he knows that Ilya is bisexual, even if he doesn’t talk about it. Even Cliff is aware of the dangers with Russia. Even if the rest of the league hates it, they can fuck off.
Mistaking Shane’s silence for skepticism, Cliff continues, “I know he seems like an asshole, but he’s one of the best men you’ll ever meet. I know you’ve seen it—the whole rivalry thing is bullshit anyways, right? He’s actually a big softie…”
Cliff talks up Ilya, and Shane smiles, glad that Ilya has such a good friend—even though he isn’t sure how to tell Cliff that he and Ilya are already an item.

I think it would be pretty funny if Cliff actually figured out Montreal Jane was a guy ages ago, because what other reason would there be for Ilya being so cagey about Jane when he isn't about any other girls? and he just decided to never say anything about it because whatever, that's Ilya's business and there's a reason he's keeping it a secret, right? Being Russian and a pro hockey player. I can keep his secret.
So when Ilya finally comes out as bi to Cliff and is all nervous about Cliff's reaction, Cliff is just trying really hard to not just say "yeah, no shit, figured it out years ago, do you think I'm an idiot" and then to the news that Jane is Shane, Cliff's thinking "oh that tracks actually, you've always had something going on between you, it makes sense" while out loud he's saying "Holy fuck, whaaat? I would never have guessed! And Shane Hollander? Good on you, bud!" Just to see Ilya relax and smile

BUT THEN MY MAN, HEATHCLIFF MARLEAU, LAID SHANE HOLLANDER SMOOOOOV OUT WITH HIS BIG BEAUTIFUL BODY AND BROKE HIS COLLARBONE AND CANCELLED THEM PLANS AND SENT THAT COFFIN STRAIGHT TO THE WOODCHIPPER
EVERYONE STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND SAY THANK YOU CLIFF MARLEAU!!!!!!!! WE OWE YOU EVERYTHING KING!!!!!!!!!!!
Shane does an interview after they're outed where he says, kind of off-handedly, that the one thing that still bothers him about having to keep their relationship secret for so long is that there are no pictures of them together as a couple from those years.
Someone clips it and it goes viral.
Over the next few days, Shane and Ilya's mentions start to get flooded with pictures. Mostly it's screenshots from various games they played against each other, meticulously picked through by dedicated fans to find every moment Shane and Ilya looked at each other on the ice.
Some screenshots get shared by hundreds of different people because they stand out so obviously: Shane and Ilya meeting each other's eyes during a face off; Ilya looking at Shane while his back is turned, naked longing visible on his face; Shane chasing after Ilya with a small but delighted grin.
There are also pictures from press events, award ceremonies, behind the scenes at All Stars. Seemingly any time Shane and Ilya got captured in the same frame gets dug up and shared.
Finally, a couple of weeks later, the director of Shane and Ilya's CCM commercial posts outtakes from their shoot. It's captioned 'Took a bit of digging but I knew I still had these somewhere! I had to make my contribution to the #HollanovArchives even though this must have been a while before they got together. These kids had crazy chemistry, right from the start!'
Shane hasn't responded to the onslaught yet, too overwhelmed by the (slightly terrifying) dedication of their fans as well as the fact that he now has dozens of pictures clearly displaying his and Ilya's love for each other during a time in their lives when it was so desperately hidden.
He does respond now, sharing the director's post with a sincere (and publicist-approved) caption thanking him and the fans.
Ilya also shares the post, tacking on 'yes if a while means a few hours 👅' like he didn't cry when Shane showed him the videos.
They had talked about telling close friends. Shane was thinking about telling Hayden, and Ilya had tossed out Cliff’s name to have someone to consider, but he hadn’t actually been planning to tell anyone. It felt like too much to admit and, as much as he tried to hide it, Ilya was scared of the reaction. He only had the rest of this year left in Boston, why could he not just finish strong with the same lies he’d started with?
Marlow was in Ilya’s hotel room after an away game. They had practice the next morning before their flight, so most of the older players had headed to the hotel instead of out on the town. Ilya had the tv turned to a movie channel, paying only vague attention to the Star Wars movie that flickered by as he waited for Shane’s text that he was back at home from his game that evening. At the commercial break, Ilya turned the tv to mute and let his head loll back against the head board, analyzing the aches left over from the game.
Marlow’s voice was low like a confession in the quiet room but it still surprised Ilya, “What if I’m not cut out for a real relationship?”
Ilya’s head turned to see Marlow’s expression, ready to laugh, but he found a look of true concern on his friend’s face and recalibrated. “What do you mean, Marley? Have you tried?”
Marlow sighed, sounding more defeated than Ilya had ever heard. “I mean— yeah? I think so? But I don’t even know, man. This is the third girl I’ve tried to get serious with in the last six months. And it’s only been a couple weeks but I can feel it slipping away again. I just don’t know how to fix it. We’re always on the road and I guess I’m a shit texter but even if I wasn’t— who wants to deal with a schedule this fucked?? But I’m 30 and I keep going to clubs like my dream girl will stumble drunk into my arms and surprise me with a happy ever after. I just don’t think it works that way.”
Ilya wasn’t sure what to say, or even if he was meant to say anything at all. Clearly this had been eating at Cliff for a while, and Ilya wasn’t even sure this was something he was qualified to discuss.
“Being 30 is not the end of the world, Marley. Your dick has not fallen off, and your face has not gotten any stupider.” Marlow huffed a little, but he had a smile on his lips. “There are lots of nice girls who would love to date a hockey player. Even St. Vic has had a girlfriend for several years! Clearly there is someone for everyone.” This actually drew a laugh, but Ilya was not done. “But maybe you should ask one of the guys who is married about how they got there? I’m not sure I’m the person to ask in this department.”
“I just thought…” Cliff started, but then paused, seeming to parse through a decision. “Well, you have been seeing that Montreal girl for all these years—“ Ilya tensed and started to defend himself, but Cliff waved him off. “I know, I know. But it seems serious with you two now, right? You aren’t taking girls home any more, and you’re always smiling when you check your phone. And I know I’m not supposed to know about her, but I just thought that if you had finally made it out of the hook up stage you might have some tips for me. I always figured you met her at a club or something, but you were always different about her than other girls.”
And suddenly, Ilya is torn. He had gotten permission from Shane to tell Marlow about them. Marlow clearly thinks that Ilya is in a committed, if secret and long distance, relationship and wants to know how he’s made it work. He tries to come up with a lie. A convincing one, not just a cheeky deflection, because his friend is being vulnerable and he doesn’t want to reject that show of trust. But then he lets himself imagine for a moment telling the truth. The relief of lying to one less person.
Before he has even really decided the words are out of his mouth, quiet but sure. “He is different from the girls I met in clubs.”
Ilya stops then, letting the words hang in the air as he can almost hear the gears turning in Cliff’s brain. He will start small, though it feels ridiculous to call coming out to an NHL player small. But Cliff had just explained how he saw Ilya’s joy about Shane. They were friends. Best friends, maybe. Could he really not accept that Ilya was happy with a man?
“How did you meet him?”
So it was that simple. There was a timid lilt to his tone that Ilya could recognize as unsteadiness. But he had acknowledged and continued. So here was the harder part.
“We met through the league.”
Cliff’s eyebrows scrunched as though trying to do complex arithmetic. When he didn’t add anything, Ilya pushed further.
“Did you ever notice that my Montreal girl was always in town when we played against Montreal?”
This was an admission, spoken with the hushed fear of a man on his deathbed. This was how the pieces clicked into place. All the smiles at his phone and the staring from the bench and the excuses to leave the hotel whenever they were in Montreal.
Cliff huffed in disbelief, “You’re in love with a staff member for the Voyageurs? Is he a trainer or something? A coach?”
Oh. Ilya hadn’t even considered a different conclusion, but it was true, there were actually lots of people who traveled with the team every game. Coaching staff, medical staff, media managers… and players.
“Something like that… He gets the schedule thing. Though I will admit, the only thing worse than one NHL schedule is two. I would not recommend this if you’re as bad at texting as you say. But when you find the right person, you figure out eventually that you have to make it work because not having them is worse than any compromise.”
Ilya can see that Cliff is looking at him now, really looking, as though seeing him for the first time.
“Do you think maybe he could come work for Boston instead? Cutting the scheduling down to half would at least help, and if he travels with the team in Montreal, he should be able to do so here too.”
Ilya smiled wryly, relaxing at Cliff’s obvious support. “I don’t know that he’d like Boston. Besides, there’s no way the pay cap would let us both pl—“
Cliff stiffened beside him and Ilya froze. He had not really planned on explaining further, but he had been so ready to joke about it that it had just slipped out. He wasn’t going to deny it though, so he just sat and waited.
Quietly, as though trying not to spook a bear, Cliff breathed “I thought you had a huge crush on Rose Landry. I was just sure that you two had secretly dated or something. I wouldn’t have ever thought…” he paused for a moment of consideration before continuing, “wait, was he fucking cheating on you???” There was a sudden measure of outrage in his voice as he spun to face Ilya.
The tension fell from Ilya’s shoulders for a final time and he started to laugh. It built and built until he was doubled over, laughing so hard he could hardly breathe. He only stopped when he saw Cliff’s face slide into hurt.
“Are you punking me, Rozy? I thought you were being serious about being with Hollander!” Marlow was upset for seemingly the first time in this crazy conversation and Ilya couldn’t allow that.
“No, no. I am not punking you. And he did not cheat on me. I was going to ask him out and he freaked out, ran off, and then started dating Rose Landry. I was furious and hurt, but it was not cheating. Not like that at least.” The hurt had slid back off his face, but Marley still seemed confused. “I just appreciate you being willing to defend my honor, though I think you did enough when you laid him out last year.”
He went chalk white, “Oh fuck, Roz. I could have killed your boyfriend! I wouldn’t have ever known!!! Holy fuck you would have killed me in my sleep!! I’m so fucking sorry holy shit please forgive me it was supposed to be a clean hit, we were just playing like normal!!”
Ilya laid a hand on his arm, “It’s okay, Marley. Shane’s okay, you didn’t do anything wrong. It was shit luck. It happens. It’s not like I don’t check him during games too, and he seems to like me just fine.”
Cliff seemed to relax a little, though he still looked stricken with guilt. Ilya was distracted as his phone buzzed with a text.
Jane <3 : Home! Shower then snack then bed. Can you call in like twenty?
He smiled as he read it. When he looks up, Cliff has a peculiar look on his face. “I’m glad you’re happy, Roz.” Sincerity. Ilya doesn’t see that from Cliff often, but that’s clearly what it is.
Ilya’s smile stays on his face. “Thank you, Cliff.” He pauses for a moment, deciding there’s been enough seriousness for the night. “Now get out of my room I have hot NHL super star to talk to about very sexy hot NHL super star things you wouldn’t know about.”
Marlow chuckles as Ilya starts to shove him off the bed. As he grabs his phone and his shoes he tosses back, “Should have known it wasn’t a trainer. You always shoot for as hot as they come, and no one is as hot as Hollander.”
“No!! I am! I am hottest NHL star! He is second hottest, so I must aim below my level because no one is above me. Do not forget!! And do not tell anyone. This is secret only for friends and you will keep it so that one day I can set you up with third hottest NHL star!” Ilya gestures wildly at Cliff as he follows him.
“Isn’t Scott Hunter already taken?” Cliff asks, grinning as he opens the door.
Ilya makes a sound of disgust, ready to fling another comment, but Cliff is already slipping down the hallway, leaving him alone with a smile on his face and a weight off his shoulders.
I am so curious about the tidbit of the leak in Snapping Birch being how Ilya discovers that Shane is autistic. Has he or anyone else close to suspected? How do people feel about Shane not telling them? How does SHANE feel about his autism diagnosis being known not just by the public but by people he knows personally? SO interested
So I’m gonna confine this discussion to what’s already come out in snapping birch.
The autism diagnosis has only been mentioned in that first Reddit post so far. From that post, we know that Shane was diagnosed when he was 8, that he had a friend he told about it, that friend told the rest of the team, and whatever his team did to him after made Yuna and David pull Shane from it entirely. And, critically, Shane did not tell his parents about his teammates bullying him. His coach had to be the one to do it.
I know in canon that Shane’s autism is undiagnosed. I changed that for this because I thought it added narrative depth to the events of the fic.
Specifically, Shane’s autism diagnosis is the first time that he learns that he needs to hide himself to play hockey.
Shane can’t hide skin color. He learns that he doesn’t fit in because of it. He learns he has to hide away the parts of himself that aren’t “white” enough. And he can hide some of the ways being Asian makes him culturally different from his teammates. But he never has the option to fully excise his skin color the way he has that option with his sexuality.
Shane has the option to hide his autism. And he learns that he needs to quite literally the first time he ever talks about it.
Shane hides because it is a learned behavior. It’s like when a toddler touches a hot stove and gets burned. Didn’t that hurt? Don’t you never want to feel that way again?
Okay. Don’t ever do that again, and you’ll be safe.
Once upon a time, Shane Hollander was 8 years old and told his friend on his hockey team that he wouldn’t be at practice because the doctor thought he had autism and he had to go back to take more tests. He didn’t think to hide it. He didn’t know that he was the wrong thing to be yet. His friend simply asked him why he wasn’t going to be at practice. All Shane did was answer.
He never gets to play on that team again.
Shane is the one who has to leave. He was the best player on that team. He’s been the best player on every team he’s ever been on. He gets hurt and somehow he is still the one who has to lose something after. All of the teammates who bullied him got to stay and keep playing together on the team that used to be his. Shane is the one who has to go.
Word of God, Shane has not acknowledged his autism diagnosis since 1999. He has never told anyone. He refused to talk about it with his parents after, and they eventually stopped bringing it up. Shane does not tell people about it. Shane does not think about it. Shane himself has never processed the diagnosis. It has no place in his self-image because immediately after he found out he was autistic, he excised it from his sense of self.
You do not get to be autistic and still play hockey. They will force you out. That lesson is learned. So Shane has buried that part of himself every single way he could since he was eight years old.
He hasn’t talked about it in nearly two decades. Which is one of the reasons why it is absolutely fucking agony to him that it is public knowledge right now.
Shane has spent his entire life running from how he felt when he was eight years old and had to leave his team. He has cut off every single part of himself that hockey could not accept because that was the only way he thought he could stay. He has been killing pieces of himself for nearly two decades because of this.
This season was the first time in his life he let himself believe that a team could love all of him. And then they just fucking didn’t.
Shane broke himself in a million ways to rebuild the metros from the ground up. He has earned his jersey’s place in those rafters more than anyone who has ever called themselves a Metro.
And then these assholes who haven’t given an ounce of what he’s given decide that he is the one that needs to be forced out.
He put in the work. He bled himself dry. He gave everything he had and sacrificed everything he was to make this team what it is. He gave more and did more and achieved more than any other player in the history of the franchise. And he is still the one they expect to leave. When it is his goddamn team.
Shane has been fighting this for months. He has bore through the pain and the humiliation rituals and the goddamn ice time because he was not going to be the one to fucking leave this time, and somehow he is still the one ousted. It is insult to fucking injury.
And then there’s that fucking Reddit article.
Now the whole world knows. You do not even get to hide that part of yourself. The option was taken from you. And there’s another thing for them to push you out over. Nineteen goddamn years of hiding that part of yourself away and it ends up on the front page of the New York fucking Times.
Don’t you feel like you’re still eight years old?
Doesn’t it fucking ache?
Everything you sacrificed, and you are still the one that has to leave.
Shane doesn’t know at this point that his autism diagnosis was in the leak. But he’s not going to take it well when he finds out. He never wanted anyone to know. He feels like it’s just another reason for people to talk about how different he is.
I think Shane struggles severely with his own tokenism. He wants to be known for his hockey. If Hayden achieves something, people talk about how impressive it is that any player did that. But if it’s Shane, it’s about how an Asian player did that. It’s not spectacular because of his achievement. It’s spectacular because there’s something intrinsically different about him that makes people say “wow, he sure is the wrong kind of guy to manage that.”
Shane just doesn’t want to talk about all that shit about himself that he can’t change. He doesn’t want to talk about how remarkable he is for someone who looks like him, or thinks like him, or is wrong like him. He wants to talk about everything he built for himself. He is the greatest player in the whole goddamn world. And that is spectacular for anyone. Why is he the guy that always has to come with a qualifier? “This is amazing, but especially for a guy like you who is wrong in pretty much every goddamn way you can be wrong.”
Shane doesn’t want to talk about it. He doesn’t want to talk about it with the public. He doesn’t want to talk about it with his loved ones. He wanted to leave that diagnosis in fucking 1999 and he absolutely hates that people know about it. The last fucking thing he needed was to give people more slurs to pick from.
Ilya didn’t know about that Shane was autistic before now in the sense that he didn’t know about the diagnosis. But he knew that Shane was autistic in the sense that he knew Shane eats a Specific Type Of Yogurt Because That Is The Type With The Correct Texture. He knew Shane came off as kinda flat to people sometimes. He knew that Shane kept his life in a Specific Order and he knew that Shane took off his shoes at every door and he knew that Shane folded his clothes before sex.
Autism is just a word that describes how Shane is. Ilya already knows how Shane is and loves every bit of him. Shane Hollander is simply the most perfect person alive to Ilya. Every single thing he does is the new most charming thing that Ilya has ever seen in his life. He is unspeakably enchanted by that man.
Ilya knew that Shane Worked The Way Shane Worked. The label of autism itself isn’t so much as a blip to him, so he doesn’t care that Shane never told him that specific label. Like, Ilya doesn’t think of Shane’s autism as something that was hidden from him or that it is a revelation to him. Yes he basically knew all that already He Was The One Who Was Buying Shane’s Yogurt. He does not give a fuck if people decided Shane qualified for a special word for it. Ilya just calls it Being Shane and he feels #blessed every day to witness it.
Ilya does care that everyone else seems to care about it, but only because that’s one more thing that’s fucking killing Shane right now. Everyone needs to fuck off and let his man breathe.
Ilya does however have complicated feelings about the fact that Shane never told him about being bullied off his first hockey team because of it.
Ilya and Shane are still relatively early in accepting being together. Like, they have not been comfortable calling each other by their first names for a full year at this point. Like yeah, they’re eight years down the pipe with this relationship but also most of that was spent fleeing from each other after every moment of stolen intimacy. Shane only found out Ilya’s mother’s name and what happened to her like six months ago.
As a result, Ilya hasn’t told Shane every bad thing that’s ever happened to him. That list is fucking long. Shane does not expect him to have shared every bad thing to ever happen to him. And Ilya knows that Shane has not told him every bad thing to ever happen to him.
He wishes Shane told him about what happened when he was eight. It casts a lot of the events of the last season in a new light. But he wishes more that Shane hadn’t lost the option to tell him.
I feel like Shane and Ilya have always found a certain solace in confessing things to the other. They have both lived under an absolutely crushing level of secrecy. Ilya grew up queer in an abusive police family in goddamn Russia. He risked actually disappearing if his family found out. Shane meanwhile has never felt safe or comfortable sharing his whole self with anyone ever, until Ilya. He hid every part of himself that didn’t fit people’s expectations and he hid it from everyone, even his parents.
They are both so weighed down with all this awful bullshit that they had to carry alone and couldn’t tell a single fucking person about, but then suddenly they could tell the other, and they weren’t afraid the other would spit on them for it. They weren’t afraid at all. It was unimaginably freeing when they got to unburden themselves to each other and Ilya wanted Shane to have that option with this. That’s just another thing that got taken from them.
Hayden cares a little more about the fact that Shane never told him. But not in a “I wish you trusted me with this and I’m mad that you didn’t” kind of way. He cares in a “the fact that you never once felt fully safe in the entire time I have known you has genuinely been keeping me awake at night” kind of way.
At least in the show, Hayden seems to have a baseline awareness that Shane has a particular way he functions and he does not try to change that. What we see of Hayden appears to be legitimately accepting of and accommodating to Shane. Shane wants to keep to his diet and Hayden does not say “dude can’t you just break it for one night it’s not a big deal,” he says, Yes My Best Buddy In The Whole World Is Coming To My House. Honey, Prepare Our Finest Bird Food.
The Pikes are experiencing the mental and physical load that comes with having multiple young and energetic children forging boldly ahead into the Terrible Twos one after another and they still put in the effort to make sure Shane Hollander is comfortable in their home. They keep the fridge stocked with ginger ale for him. They prepare Shane-friendly meals instead of saying “I just spent several hours making three separate dinners for my children who are having mutually exclusive picky phases and then chased it with the hostage negotiation that is trying to get Ruby to eat a singular vegetable even though it was gross because ‘the air touched it.’ Please just eat whatever I shove on the plate in front of you.” I know a lot of people who would not be super chill accommodating restrictive diets. Jackie is. Hayden is. He does not expect Shane to be anyone other than who he is.
Hayden doesn’t give a shit Shane’s autistic and doesn’t think much of it. He Has Also Been Buying Shane’s Yogurt. I think it threw him for a loop for like, four and a half seconds, because he’s a professional hockey player who grew up in hockey circles and didn’t exactly receive an education on the autism spectrum. He associated his mental image of autism closer with the stereotypes, which Shane didn’t fit. When he found out, he changed his mental image of autism to include Shane. But it didn’t change his mental image of Shane himself.
I’m very much trying not to get too much into this because I feel like it risks getting into Things I Shan’t Say, but I feel like it’s fairly obvious right now that the way this last season has gone is absolutely fucking haunting Hayden. He now has a visceral awareness of just how quickly a team can turn on you for being different because he’s had a front row seat to it happening. He’s not out here being like “why didn’t Shane ever tell anyone this” oh he fucking knows why
Hayden is upset that Shane didn’t feel comfortable enough to ever share this. But he’s upset because it means that other people made Shane uncomfortable to begin with. He’s upset for Shane, not at Shane.
I personally think hockey culture/high level sport locker rooms are too toxic to be fully safe for anyone, like from a baseline level hazing is way too common for that, but Hayden Pike is the kind of guy who is about as safe as you can get. He is white. He seems to be straight (though I don’t know if canon outright says it). And despite Ilya’s jabs, Hayden is likely an excellent hockey player. The mere fact that he’s a pro puts him above almost everyone. He’s a first line player for one of the best teams in the country. He’s not in the same league as hockey god Shane Hollander, but he’s fucking good.
Hayden was probably one of the best players on most of his teams growing up. He was just naturally The Kind Of Guy who’s “supposed” to be playing hockey. He has pretty much always been safe in the locker room and he hasn’t ever had to think about what it means to not be safe, until he saw what happened to Shane.
It is driving him fucking crazy that Shane doesn’t get to be safe to way he’s always been.
It is driving him fucking crazy that Shane has had to squirrel away pieces of himself literally the entire time Hayden has known him.
Shane is his best friend. He is the pseudo baby brother who Hayden adores. And Hayden feels a lot of loss around all those years where he didn’t know Shane was gay. He feels like he’s missed huge chunks of Shane’s life and didn’t even know it at the time. And he feels like Shane’s been forced to go it alone. Finding out about the autism just adds to that feeling.
He wanted to know. But he wanted to know because Shane telling people would have meant that Shane was safe to tell people. He’s mad that Shane didn’t get to be safe.

the ways shane has influenced pop culture in my head
1. a canadian team bringing home the cup for the first time in like 20 years would have made sooo much noise, shane hollander basically put canada on the map.
2. obviously he is tumblr's boy of the year. along with superwholock.
3. in the wake of his insane b2b run there's something like linsanity happening within asian diaspora communities. shanesanity if you will. asians in hockey numbers rise up by 120% after the second stanley cup.
4a. i hate to say this but. drake referenced him in his songs. something about. i learned it from shane holly y'all can never check me. back to back for those that didn't get it. and yes of course the cover is shane's stanley cup photo. you know the one.
4b. and yes when eventually in 2025 drake has his big cancellation at the superbowl, some beat reporter asks what shane thinks of drake v kendrick, and shane ofc thought he'd side with the canadian. he had to make a clarification on twitter.
4c. ilya tweeted like "shane don't have internet sorry about him 🙁"
5. shane's face is all over montreal like shohei ohtani is all over tokyo.
6. shane gets tapped for a tim horton's commercial once and basically ate their donuts like the mcdonald's CEO and was again cancelled on twitter.
7. post outing hockey shot up into stratospheric popularity a la f1. in fact people know hockey as that one sport with the gay asian and russian. shane hates this with a burning passion. it's the fault of that one tweet that was like "so in football terms this is kinda like if messi and ronaldo are fucking" and had 47M views.
