2025 Intro Post
Probably about time I updated my pinned...
About me/my blog -
Hello, I'm Yorkshire (England) born but home for the past 14 years and now forevermore is Scotland.
I'm an Older Millennial. When I first stumbled into the world of fandoms I was 21 for about five years. I was very young compared to most people. I've accepted it's the other way around now and I'm fairly old to a lot of people. You can follow/interact with me (even if you're "only" 21!) but know that this is an adult's blog and will have adult themes.
Ship and Let Ship. Personally, I'm a later in life shipper but one thing remains true: IDGAF about ship wars. I won't ship-bash, I won't character-bash to prop up ships. I don't like people doing either of those things on my blog.
Criticism isn't the same as bashing, legit criticism is ok - but I try not to do it TOO much about things I don't like.
YKINMKATO - there are things I won't touch with a hundred foot pole. I simply don't read them. As long as we both tag things that need tagging, it's cool.
Favourite genres/things: science-fiction, fantasy, history, horror (especially Gothic and psychological horror), reading, writing, watching films, comic books, travelling to new places...
Non-exhaustive fandom list (plus caveats) -
Loki:
Fell in love with MCU Loki way back in Phase 1 when I started going to the cinema to see MCU films.
But I am ALSO a fan of Marvel Loki overall now. From the evil old man to the nonbinary/genderfluid skald.
I'll also discuss non-Marvel Lokis quite happily. Other than for fanfic purposes (where you can mix and match canons) - no, they're not all exactly the same to me!
In the MCU I MUCH prefer 2011-13 Loki. If you like Ragnarok or TVA Loki and want to follow me that's fine, but just wanted to warn you. I try not to discuss the things I don't like so much these days, but know that I'll always tag my criticism.
Loki ships - idgaf who you ship him/them with, you do you. I have mainly written MCU Loki with women but that doesn't mean I think he's straight, because he isn't.
Doctor Who:
Not really been posting much about it lately but it's there because this is a lifelong love.
And I mean lifelong. I've been a fan since before 2005. It was still airing (just) the first few years of my life. I grew up watching Classic Who on UK Gold on Sunday mornings.
My philosophy on being a Doctor Who fan is: once you accept that some of it is really bad, and that canon contradicts itself all the time so just pick the bits you like best, you'll have a much better time.
Don't ask me who MY Doctor is because my answer seems to change depending on my mood. Regular faves are Two, Three, Six (no, I'm not being ironic) and Twelve.
I adore David Tennant as an actor but have mixed feelings on Ten.
Want to hate on Thirteen and Fifteen? You've come to the wrong blog. None of that here.
Tolkien and Middle-earth Stuff:
Yes, including The Rings of Power.
Yes, I ship Haladriel.
I didn't expect to like either of those things, it just happened. I didn't really like The Hobbit films (there were parts I liked) so I didn't expect to like TROP. I'd never considered Sauron/Galadriel as a ship either but; sometimes things just find you.
I do actually want to talk about Tolkien stuff overall but am aware those two things might put people off. I tag all TROP and/or Haladriel related things.
But I get it, if you don't want to see those things you might not want to follow me. This has been the hardest fandom for me to try find a sense of belonging tbh.
Same as Loki - no, I don't think Sauron is straight just because I mainly write him in a M/F pairing.
I am old enough that I saw ALL of the Peter Jackson LOTRs films in the cinema roughly at the same time the rest of the world was also seeing them for the first time. I read the books after seeing FOTR. Please do me a huge favour and don't make assumptions about my Tolkien knowledge/fan status based on an adaptation you might not like.
Just because I wrote it in a fic or wrote it in meta doesn't mean I think Tolkien meant it that way.
Taskmaster:
Only the greatest TV/comedy/panel/gameshow ever invented.
Mainly blog about the UK series but have seen at least one episode of all the international versions.
Taskmaster NZ is probably my second favourite after Taskmaster UK.
I'm not really a fan of RPF anymore (but Ship and Let Ship!) - I'll make an exception for Alex and Greg though because they're actively into it at this point.
Finally, my blocking policy -
I understand some of the above (especially some of my fandoms) means people might block me. I have to say I'm not used to this because people REALLY have to piss me off for me to block them. I'm talking being actually abusive or not respecting boundaries. But it's ok, everyone's different. That said...
If I discover a ghost blog I WILL block back. You don't want to see me? Fine, I'll remove temptation entirely. I got blocked by people who actually enjoy the same things I enjoy because idk, I offended them somehow. If you change your mind then sorry, I'm not gonna know.
However, if I find out you're mining my blog for content (especially to make fun of it or my mutuals) either on here or other social media platforms, I'll block you. I can't be doing with any of that nonsense anymore, including friendly-fire. It's made 2025 fandom miserable for me.
