Fƫanor *dissolves into smoke bc the world couldn't handle him*
Vs
Bilbo Baggins "GOODBYE" *disappears entirely*
Fight!!
Ok
Too Hot:
Invented the alphabet, good public speaker, angyTM, won Arda's Got Talent with a moving rendition of "diamonds are a girl's best friend", told satan to get bent to his face, has killed people for shiny objects
JIRT:
Loves His Wife, is a furry, Mad Hops, literally came back from the dead, disney princess friend of animals, missing a hand because he got too confident during an Epic Heist for shiny objects
bingo:
Short, doesn't give a fuck, writes the best poetry you've ever heard and even better insults, all the kids' favorite ptsd uncle, gay, went on a road trip to get some shiny objects from a giant shiny-object-loving lizard and accidentally stole a different shiny object from a tiny shiny-object-loving naked mole rat
I never got the impression Feanor was Tolkienās self insert, (the other two are spot on) but Tolkien literally said the character most like himself is Faramir because he was a scholar who was forced to go to war, would have much prefered being left alone with his books and ultimately married a woman out of his league.
(Am willing to be convinced Feanor is a self insert but I donāt see it. Tolkienās whole thing is being religious not overvaluing shiny things and hating war, while Feanor is like āfuck the powersā āwill sacrifice entire being and also my children over shiny thingsā āIām going to commit war crimes so I can sail to make war quicker.ā Also worshiping the ground his wife walks on, and Feanor not listening to and then abandoning Nerdanel does not track)
@aragornsrockcollection I don't have an opinion on this but I saw this post just the other day and wondered about it, maybe you'll be able to glean something from it š¤·
I was thinking about the various parts of himself that Tolkien put into Feanor (the interest in language, the desultory work habits, the mot
I FORGOT ABOUT HIS DRIVING HABITS IT MAKES SENSE NOW
@merry-finches
Tolkien invented traffic violations with the same amount of gusto that Feanor invented war crimes.
Thank you I am now compelled to seek the knowledge bc that is Hilarious
OH MY GOD
In 1932, Tolkien purchased an automobile: a Morris Crowley. The car was called "Jo" after the first two letters of its license plate, and Tolkien had a tendency to drive it like a knight on his prancing charger. On the family's first long-distance road trip, to visit Hilary Tolkien on his Evesham fruit farm, the car's tires punctured twice (a rather common hazard of the time) and Tolkien managed to knock down a stone wall near Chipping Norton (for which he had no one to blame but himself).
Tolkien's technique for navigating busy intersections was to ignore all other vehicles and floor it, yellingĀ "Charge'em and they scatter!"Ā as he blasted his way through traffic.
IT MAKES SENSE NOW LMFAO I COULD NEVER HAVE PREDICTED THIS
@aragornsrockcollection TY LOL
Learning is fun! š¤©
Iām happy to inform everyone Iāve cracked the Tolkien self-insert code
