I'm not sure who this will reach, but I wanted to make a serious post. I'm going to be taking a step back from being online for a while. I was sexually assaulted by someone significantly older than me, and it's really shaken me. Because of that, I need some time to reevaluate my place in these spaces, my contact stances, and the way I present myself online.

I'm not "quitting" being radqueer, and I still support all paraphiles. What I am questioning is whether some parts of this community can unintentionally create environments where predators have an easier time gaining access to younger or more vulnerable people. That's what happened in my case--both online and, as of this week, in real life.

Please take care of yourselves. Practice anonymity where you can, set firm boundaries, and continue showing one another radical kindness. Look out for predators in your spaces, and look out for people who may be especially vulnerable to them.

Attraction =/= action. Having an atypical attraction does not automatically make someone a predator or an offender. Paraphiles are not ticking time bombs. In my case, I was simply very, very unlucky.
