Father's Day with Chris Evans
Trigger warning: fluff
Summary: You, Lorelai, Grace, and baby Steven Grant help Chris celebrate Father's Day.
"MOM! Do you think Daddy is going to love my present?" asks Grace.
"I know Daddy will love your present, Grace!" you tell Grace, who's gripping her handmade drawing of her and Chris.
Baby Steven was strapped to your chest, but was kicking his legs. He was gurgling.
"Do you need help with the tray, Lorelai?" you ask, as Lorelai struggles with the tray that had Chris's breakfast on it.
"I got it Mom. OH NO!" say Lorelai, as the coffee fell of the tray, leaving a puddle and shards of the mug.
"Lorelai, stay still! You're barefoot!" you say.
"I'll get the tray. Grace, put your present on it," you say.
"Grace, can you get Mommy a damp towel from the kitchen, and the broom and dustpan?" you say.
"Okay!" says Grace.
Grace comes back quickly with a damp towel and the broom and dustpan.
"Grace, hold the dustpan. No, like this," you say, showing Grace how to hold the dustpan.
"Lorelai, clean up the coffee with the damp towel," you say.
"We'll just get a new cup of coffee for Daddy," you say, as you go back, in your slippers, with Steven strapped to your chest.
"Steven, want to help with Daddy's coffee?" you say.
Steven gurgled.
"I'll take that as a yes," you say.
After Grace and Lorelai had finished cleaning up, Lorelai was crying with Grace trying to comfort her.
"Lorelai thinks she ruined your special day, Daddy" says Grace.
"You can NEVER ruin my special day, Lorelai," says Chris, who's supposed to be in bed. Little did you know that Chris had helped Lorelai and Grace clean up the mess.
"Here's your coffee, honey," you tell Chris giving him a quick peck.
"Get back into bed and eat that breakfast. We went through all this trouble just to make it," you say.
"Daddy, can we watch The Sound of Music?" asks Lorelai.
"Okay," says Chris.
"Does everyone want to watch movies in the living room with Daddy?" asks Chris.
"Daddy, can we watch Ice Age after we watch The Sound of Music?" asks Grace.
Chris was willing to give up watching the Red Sox game this afternoon in order to help cheer Lorelai up.
That was great for you. You could knit and listen to podcasts in the sunroom. All you need Steven for was to feed him, since you were still breastfeeding until Steven was one. Steven was already sitting up independently, and he was starting to crawl. Chris and you often split diaper duty, but he was wiling to do all the diaper duty today.
Steven was also teething, so he would be fussy at some point. He would be happy as long as he was chewing on a teething ring, sucking on a frozen washcloth, or even chewing on his daddy's fingers, or even a plastic spoon, something you always kept around.
You had breakfast for everyone. You cleaned the kitchen. You made chocolate chip cookies, Chris's and Lorelai's favorite cookie. You mostly did this for Chris, but you knew it would also cheer Lorelai up.
Eventually, you make your way to the sunroom, with your book, and knitting bag in tow. You had already set up your laptop in there, so you could easily watch your favorite You Tube channels while you knit. You would take breaks for eating and for going to the bathroom. After three kids, you knew how to hold your bladder, so going to the bathroom by yourself without someone needing a snack, apple juice, water, or hanging outside the bathroom door because they all of a sudden decided that they have to pee before you could wash your hands would be a rare, but much needed luxury.
You would order a pizza for everyone for dinner. That way, you or Chris wouldn't cook dinner. It would be a much needed change for today. Normally, you would make a frozen pizza for everyone, with a small cheese for Grace, because pepperoni is too spicy, according to Grace. You would even order a small cheese pizza for Grace. The spicy pepperoni made her tummy upset.
Meanwhile. Chris and the kids are watching the movie, but Steven needed to feed. So, you went into the nursery, got a bottle of water, and fed Steven. You were starting to leak some milk, which meant that Steven needed to feed, and you had to expel that milk somehow. Steven loved to nurse off of your right boob. You breast feed Steven.
The day goes by slow and it's nice just to have a day for mom. Chris also loved his day, and he loved the pizza you ordered. The kids LOVED watching movies with Chris, with everyone napping in the living room at one point, with Steven napping in his portable crib.
You and Chris tuck the kids in, and then go to bed that night. Since the kids don't have school for the summer, and Chris didn't have to get up at the butt crack of dawn, everyone could sleep in.
Dodger loved everything. He stayed away from the spilt coffee, the broken mug, and was willing to give Lorelai all the cuddles yesterday. Instead of sleeping next to Chris, he slept with Lorelai that night, and refused to leave her side the next day.
