I have trans-DID and the closest thing I've gotten to it was the fact that I feel plural. But thats not enough.
Rarely I get thoughts that aren't mine
Ive been trying to transition into plural, like actual headmates since 2024 and I haven't. I'm so done for. I just want to be a real system

Mhhh, okay first of all I know how TransID dysphoria feels and Iβm so sorry anon. But that you already get some thoughts that arenβt your own and experience dissociative symptoms means you are already pretty far on your transition. And respect for that. Also, people with DID donβt have to have completely separated alters to be valid. No one dictates your plurality but you. I donβt know if it would be helpful to explain my plurality. I have actually thought about offering TransID transition advice or affirmations per request. I donβt know if specific advice on transition is what you wanted but just in case I gathered some stuff down below.
TRANSDID ADVICE
First of all creating alters is not the only part.
PART 1 [TRAUMA]
If you want to implement specific trauma, think about past experiences that could count as traumatic or trauma adjacent, if they are not heavy enough, think about more traumatic stuff that could have happened in these moments.
You got harassed by someone as a kid? You donβt really remember what they did, right? What thing could they have done to you that you donβt remember? βYou know it happened. Donβt doubt yourself, your trauma is valid even if you donβt remember it. But you feel it in your gut, right? That something is wrong.β
Bonus points if you can form traumatic flashbacks or βfeeling flashbacksβ from before you were about 6-9 years old.
Think about these moments as much as you can, to the point that the thoughts about it inconvenience your every day life. Especially at night when youβre supposed to sleep.
Learn about specific trauma symptoms, types of trauma and structural dissociation. DID often goes hand in hand with PTSD and/or C-PTSD, so first start with building a trauma foundation.
PART 2 [DISSOCIATION]
As previously stated, implement your trauma to give yourself flashbacks, analyse these scenes and put your researched knowledge of trauma symptoms and dissociation into analyzing your trauma.Β
What could specific triggers be, that remind you of your trauma, how can you βtreatβ dissociation, does music help? Do you need a specific setting, place, comfort items, to deal with the thoughts, flashback, dissociation?
Actively trigger dissociation in settings that make you uncomfortable, like doctor visits, being alone, being around a bunch of people in public transport, etc.
Dissociation often goes along with: seeming tired, mentally absent, talking slow and quiet, feeling like you forgot something, trying to reach out to comfort people or comfort items to feel safe, feeling like youβre in a drunk like state, acting drunk, staring in the distance, having an empty gaze, having headaches or migraines
If you have people you are comfortable with, tell them that you arenβt feeling well or even start telling them about trauma symptoms that you have noticed on yourself or flashbacks that seem to haunt you. ONLY DO THIS IF YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH THE PERSON.
PART 3 [INNER WORLD]
Okay firstly, remember HOW DID is suspected to be formed. We are all born with parts that usually integrate into a single identity at a certain age. The goal here is to is to reverse that process.
My advice would be to think about how you could divide you identity into parts. Is there a certain part of you that is responsible for certain things? Maybe thereβs a part of you that feels solely responsible to handle certain situations. Youβre probably gonna act different when youβre at home versus when youβre at school/work. So two different parts of you are responsible for handling two different situations.
Also think about what parts you could have had in the past. Were there any strange OCs that you always drew as a kid? Did you make up fantasy stories about certain characters? Maybe those were alters that you just didnβt know about? Itβs common for people with DID to show different parts at a young age without it being obviously recognizable.
If you find parts in yourself that seem distinct and relate to certain things/are responsible for different things, start characterizing them
Maybe your anger is a demon? Maybe a few of your headmates are siblings? Or they follow a certain order (ex. everyone represents a different color/concept). Maybe this certain part wouldnβt have any reproductive organs because they are a trauma holder, or sexual protector?
Try to think about how your headmates look, what makes them up, and how does it relate to their origin, or their roles?Β
If you think it helps you, document the infos about your alters, sometimes it feels better to only have the info in your head though.
Then become more specific and ask yourself how your headmates would act in yβallβs everyday life, what music would they listen to, how do they think about your parents, are they comfortable with your friends, what would they say about stuff.
IMPORTANT: In your everyday life try to always think about what your headmates would say to you or in headspace to each other. Sometimes it can also just feel like static noise in your head, completely silent or else, that doesnβt make you any less valid, itβs just a part of dissociation.
These are all the tips I could think of. Please keep in mind that they are mostly based on my experience and donβt necessarily apply to every plural being.
