It depends on what you mean by endogenic CDD :)

A small note first - we're not entirely sold on the age cut-off for CDDs. We're not going to say there is or isn't an age cut-off, we feel like there's just too many unknown and underresearched variables at the moment. Obviously, cases happening past the normal cut-off would be extremely rare regardless, and there's many cases where a CDD did form in childhood but wasn't noticeable or actively present until adulthood.

Endogenic systems can have trauma, and sometimes that trauma is the cause of a CDD, while still being an endogenic system.

Whether they intentionally created headmates, accidentally caused headmates, were plural from birth, are plural because of some other experience (Otherkin/Therian, spiritual reasons, etc.), or any other reason, they could experience trauma at a young age (or maybe any age) that causes dissociative amnesia and dysfunction, and still consider the formation of their system unrelated to their trauma.

And, endogenic systems with a CDD who say they don't have a history of trauma. There's a few ways we think this would happen.

Subjective experiences could mean they don't consider their trauma to be trauma, whether because they just see it that way, or because they underestimate the impact of their trauma

Dissociative amnesia, of course, where they don't remember they experienced trauma

They could have DP/DR disorder, which isn't always caused by trauma, and because of their already existing system, their symptoms/experiences could resemble a CDD

A psychologist or other qualified professional diagnosed them with a CDD, whether because they believe the system fits the criteria despite lack of trauma, or for insurance reasons

The system isn't aware of multiplicity/systemhood/plurality outside of having a CDD. They don't fit the criteria for a CDD, but to them, there doesn't seem to be anything else that explains their experiences, or they're pressured into believing they have a CDD because they're a system.

In reviewing literature, we have seen a lot of pieces discussing how social perceptions of multiplicity could be the cause of distressing/negative experiences/symptoms in those who are already multiple, making somebody look like they have a CDD (to themself, others, or both.)

And other things similar to the above!

It all ends up getting a bit messy, really. Everybody's experiences are different. The multiple parts found in CDDs are different identity states made from trauma to counter the effects of trauma. The way this is shown is the dysfunctional symptoms, like the flashbacks, unwelcome intrusions, etc. It's very difficult to attatch words to our thoughts on this matter, lol. We do consider CDDs to be posttraumatic disorders, but we'd be interested in exploring why somebody might say they experience otherwise.

If an endogenic system were to tell us they had a CDD with no trauma at all, we're not going to tell them they're wrong, or automatically not believe them. We'd be interested in hearing about their experiences!

Is it possible to have a CDD without trauma at all? In the case of the non-trauma models of DID, the research we've seen saying that non-trauma models aren't true also often say that there have been a few real cases of DID, that fit the fantasy model or sociocognitive model or iatrogenic model. Though, we haven't looked very far into this yet, so we don't have much more info to provide here.

Something we'd love to do is a survey thing where some endogenic systems with/without trauma and with/without a CDD fill out a self-report scale about their possible trauma-related experiences and symptoms. Like the ITQ, or MSS, PCL-5, ACE-Q, IES-R, etc. That would take a lot of work though, lol.
