Riza fullmetalalchemist is so good because she is motivated by spite and justice and all of these large, angry, righteous emotions, but she never looses sight of the fact that the center of all of those feelings is hope and goodness and a strong sense of right and wrong…: it’s so compelling to have a character who is full of spite but isn’t motivated by hatred over compassion. To have a character who believes she should be shot firing squad style for her own crimes and doesn’t believe that just because of an overbalance of self hatred over a sense of true justice, and actually sees it as the logical and just thing to be done because she’s able to see her own crimes from a removed perspective without any emotion clouding her judgement ,,, oh she is so fascinating wow she’s like a little bug who is playing ethical chess on a different level than 90% of the people who watch FMA. No she isn’t just the mom friend she is a deeply interesting look at a character who is arguably suicidal but NOT in the way almost every character who is suicidal is. Durkheim would have loved her
