I think Ryland Grace x Eva Stratt is an incredibly compelling ship, but I feel as though it only works if it's hinted at. Anything more than that and it loses its spark.
Make them get too close to each other. Let them feel each other's breaths on their faces. Make them both want to lean in, but Eva can't bring herself to go through with kissing an employee, afraid that she'd be using her power to manipulate Grace, and Grace can't comprehend the idea that anyone could be interested in him like that. Make them both ashamed of their feelings.
Make Grace hold on to those feelings, even after the betrayal. Even after remembering it. Make him feel upset that, despite everything, he still can't find himself letting go of what he felt. He wants to so bad, but his heart just won't let him. Make Eva hate herself for years, questioning if what she did was right, if it was worth it to betray Grace. Make her torn between knowing she had to do what she did to save the planet, and knowing she threw away someone who really, truly understood and cared for her.
Make Eva know that, if the mission fails, she'll have sent Grace to his death for nothing. Make her hate herself for it. Make all of her options horrible on so many levels.
And make the accumulated weight of just about 17 years fall off her shoulders in an instant when she receives news of the Beatles landing.
Make her unclench her jaw and breathe a sigh of relief for the first time since she doomed an innocent and wonderful man to die alone in space when she watches Grace's video diaries.
Make her know she'll never see him again, but know that he's safe, that he's happy, that he's not alone out there. You doubt he will ever forgive you, but you've made peace with that long ago. What counts is that he's alive, and he's well, and let her let go of the fears she's been holding on to.

Me surviving 2026
I think Eva writes a diary throughout all those years with all her regrets, guilt and shame. She never shows it to anyone, but when they try her in court and charge her they use it against her as evidence of all her horrible deeds.
I feel like for decades even after her death she'd be thought off as a monster, but as time passes and Earth recovers slowly, the perspective shifts, and her diary gets published as an Autobiography. And in decades time her actions finally get viewed as necessary and not vicious.
