Like the Shield/Hydra files had been out for two years at that point, Natasha could have told him (someone who knew Tony even longer - even Fury for that matter), and even before that, I feel like Shield should have known that it wasn’t a simple car accident that killed them given the way Tony’s mom was killed and so why wouldn’t they have given Tony that information (even if they didn’t know Hydra was responsible). Like I get it was also Bucky specifically who did it (y’know the one who was mind controlled and not the one actually pulling strings) and to some extent I do see that, but also, Steve said he didn’t know it was him for sure. Idk at that point it felt like it would have been reasonable for Steve to assume that Tony already knew the most pertinent details about the situation
