Now Seven's attention was caught. Steadily, Seven stared at her. Janeway's heart started to gallop at her unwavering gaze.

"Kathryn," Seven said after a moment, wryly.

It broke the tension. Janeway covered her face, laughing. Her own skin was hot to the touch. "I'm sorry, really?"

"I believe I made myself quite clear on Voyager."

"Well - I - I didn't think you were serious!"

"Correction," said Seven, with an edge to her voice, "You did not want me to be serious."

"You were my subordinate."
