Not sure how WoD's dice pool system works, but I enjoy "Hit" based dice pools, where instead of needing to hit a total, you need to get a certain number of results at or above a certain number (or use special dice with specific "success" results, like Genesys).
Anyway, some possible pros and cons of each, from my experience:
d20:
Pros: Bonuses can be very modular, since there's a wide range of possible results. Simple to understand, simple to design around, and simple to play with. Very unpredictable results, though less so than d100.
Cons: Very unpredictable results. Not good at creating results other than "Success" and "Failure." You can have critical results, which help, but it still results in no "success but" and "failure but" type results, where there are consequences that offset the main result, rather than add to it further.
2d12:
Pros: More dice means more possible mechanics. Still very easy to understand. Wide range of possible results, regardless of bonuses, but extreme results are rarer. Allows for a wider variety of possible outcomes, such as Daggerhearts Hope and Fear, or triggering different effects if either die is above/below certain numbers.
Cons: Bonuses can feel insignificant at times, because extreme results are so rare, and the average roll is pretty high, at 13. However, this isn't nearly as true for using two smaller dice, like 2d6 or 2d10. Rerolls and such can also feel a lot less impactful, because, again, most rolls will be closer to the average roll.
Dice Pool:
Pros: Allow for characters to be dramatically better or worse at a skill, while still allowing low-skill characters to succeed, and high-skill characters to fail. Sometimes can allow for significant degrees of success, but a little less flexible than if you have a set number of dice. Rolling a lot of dice is fun.
Cons: Not everyone has a lot of dice, and counting up totals can be slow. If you're bad at something, success can be almost impossible quite easily. It can be difficult to balance target numbers, because of the wide range of PC bonuses.
Personally, my favorite dice systems are d100 roll under, which I didn't discuss here, and dice pools. Despite that, I rarely design either of them, because they're also distinctly more difficult than d20, or 2dX.
I know it's a little long, and others have provided other resources, but I still wanted to pop in and give my two cents. Of course, I'm much more familiar with some of the options than others. I've mostly played dice pool and d20 games, so do with that what you will.
