I'm not Jewish but watching people on the left not only unironically but casually repeat the kind of shit that the OG Nazis were saying in the 30s and then disregard me when I tell them that (with receipts) is scary AF. Somewhere down the line, the ideas and language of social justice got swerved in a very bad way so that antisemitism would still be "ok."
We spend more time attacking the left in these spaces because few people thought the right were good for the jews to begin with (except for certain ultra orthodox groups and that's its own complicated story). Also because the majority of the people you see here criticizing the left are themselves lefties that feel betrayed and are trying to police their own side. That's a healthy thing. People that are getting upset we're suddenly spending less time talking about antisemitism on the right need to realize this is not some game to score political points.

Jews were targeted in 70% of all hate crimes in New York City in July, according to NYPD data released on Monday, as the number of hate crimes against Jews and other groups continued to increase since New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani took office at the start of the year.
Since January 1, 2026, overall hate crimes were up 9.4% compared to the same period last year — from 329 last year to 360 this year.
Confirmed anti-Jewish hate crimes have increased 8.5% in 2026, with 205 so far this year compared to 189 during the same period last year.
The figure for this year amounts, on average, to an antisemitic hate crime in the city every 25 hours. Jewish security officials and hate crimes experts say that many or most hate crimes are not reported to police.
Jews have been targeted in 57% of all hate crimes in the city so far this year, according to the NYPD. Jews make up around 10% of the city’s population.
Hate crimes against Asians, Black people, and White people were down this year, while incidents targeting Hispanic people and Muslims, as well as crimes motivated by sexual orientation and gender, have increased.
Last month, Jews were targeted in 23 confirmed hate crimes, or 70% of the 33 total incidents in the city, a higher proportion than usual. The number of anti-Jewish crimes was 53% higher than the 15 recorded in July 2025.
Also last month, there were five Islamophobic incidents, one each against Asian, White and Black people, one based on sexual orientation, and one against an unspecified religious group.
Jews have been targeted more than all other groups combined every month for the past several years.
In some of the antisemitic incidents last month, a Jewish man was stabbed with a screwdriver on the Upper West Side in an attack in which an Asian man who is not Jewish was also injured; an assailant shoved a 64-year-old Jewish man to the ground while shouting antisemitic slurs in Brooklyn; and a suspect hurled bags of motor oil and feces at two synagogues in Queens.
“The work to uproot antisemitism out of this city is one that will continue until we see hate crimes come to an end in the city,” Mamdani said at a Monday press conference.
“I remain deeply concerned and very troubled by the unacceptable spike in all hate crimes, particularly driven by those targeting Jewish New Yorkers,” City Council Speaker Julie Menin said in a statement.
Menin is Jewish and has led efforts to combat antisemitism in city government.
Shootings, murders and other major crimes such as robberies and assaults are generally down in the city.
The increase in hate crimes is a challenge for Mamdani, who took office on January 1 pledging to combat hatred in the city, and has increased funding for hate crimes prevention.
Jewish leaders have repeatedly said that Mamdani’s anti-Israel rhetoric could stoke anti-Jewish animus in New York, which has the largest Jewish population of any city in the world. A number of prominent Jewish leaders and groups spoke out last month when Mamdani released a video calling Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a “war criminal” while acknowledging that as mayor, he lacked the power to arrest the premier when he comes to New York.
The prevalence of hate crimes is affected by a range of factors, many of which are outside of the city government’s control, such as broad social trends, national and international news, and the weather.

I wish I had a magic button that would scan the entire Internet and block any media that mentions gaza, netanyahu, israel (by non-jews), palestine or genocide. I'm so fucking exhausted. I want to be able to enjoy content without getting jump scared out of nowhere and having to check another creator, show, company, etc on the list of stuff I have to avoid. no amount of filters, tag blocking, whatever helps at all. it's just exhausting. I'm sick of hearing about antisemitic attacks, policies, countries. I'm sick of hearing about what politicians are using israel as a stepping stone to try and get brownie points with dumb college people. I roll my eyes at the idiot bigots, but my heart breaks seeing otherwise educated people that genuinely believe that I am fundamentally evil.
and I want to engage in jumblr and other jewish communities without constant posts about I/P. we are not defined by how other people label us. we are not that war. why is our existence only contextualized in our relation/difference to palestine, muslims and christians and why are we also doing it to ourselves? our existences aren't political. I want jewish joy. I want to go back to Israel where I don't have to deal with white virtue signalers. we as a people have been through so much.

The fact that the internet allows us all this info is both a blessing and a curse. On one hand in say the 1920s or 30s I wouldn't have to know that some bavarian shithole hotel sent an email rejecting a booking bc "no jews allowed". I especially wouldn't have to read about how the owners of said hotel responded with we were just frustrated about fake bookings.. its not really about the Jews 🥺🥺. I also wouldnt have to randomly get actual classic nazi propaganda blasted across my feed nor the hare brained opinion of every "zio" hating tankie!! (as an aside imo its dumb to try and see jews from a post colonial lense i dont think it fits us *as Jews* but thats another rant). On the other hand maybe if we had access to this technology then we'd be able to have helped each other more leading up to the Shoah and maybe fewer would have been murdered. Hopefully we can leverage the internet for good and hopefully counteract the fact that its a cesspit of bigotry. Hard not to feel cynical as fuck tho.

The rise in antisemitism in the last few years is awful. I wish I could do more about it.
I'm not Jewish. I say that because unfortunately it feels like that needs to be clarified - and not in a "so I can't speak directly to the impact of this because it's not my story so you should listen to those who are being affected" (that's still true and you should do it) but because part of the antisemitism is dismissing Jewish people when they bring it up.
And I imagine this post will get me a lot of messages/responses about freeing Palestine - and I agree, lots of horrible things are happening to Palestinians. But this post is about the horrible things that are happening to Jewish people.
I'm Canadian. The things I read about antisemitic hate crimes have nothing to do with helping Palestinians. How does damaging property in Canada or attacking a person in Canada help?
I don't want to hear about the mental gymnastics or outright hateful logic you use to make it ok to attack a marginalized community. Instead, just go head and block me. Stop following. We don't need to interact with each other.
The harm that is being done toward Jewish communities and individuals over the world is heartbreaking. The lack of support/outrage/solidarity that is being shown to those individuals and communities is shameful for the rest of us. Call it out. Stand up. Correct information that is harmful. Listen and read and learn and try to understand instead of scratching your head and finding reasons for why this kind of aggression and discrimination is ok actually.
And if you're Jewish and reading this - hi, welcome. I don't know enough and I'll probably miss some things as I'm still learning, but I hope following me can be safe for you.
