'"La belle Juive" translates to "the beautiful Jewess." It is an archetype of Jewish women that is repeatedly shown in paintings and media throughout history. "La belle Juive" is rooted in antisemitism and misogyny. My goal with this collection is to have Jewish women take control of their narrative and reclaim "La belle Juive." I want to return dignity to the subjects and show what truly makes Jewish women beautiful.'

this nasty post showed up (gd knows why) with an old video of a celebrity jokingly saying she’s an “honorary Jew” because she grew up in a heavily Jewish area with a lot of Jewish friends, and the weird haters in the comments were going, “explains how she got famous” “we know who the puppet maters are”
it made me think of how many hate posts there were last month enraged about the “Zionists” at a certain wedding
having Jewish friends or Jewish collaborators are not reasons to loathe someone… unless you’re a bigot
hello? none of them are beating the allegations of being rancid.
reading about jewish history is depressing bc it’s like this endless cycle of, “we were doing okay for a bit and even managed to partially integrate, but the political climate changed and we’re once again heavily persecuted if not outright murdered. ce la vie!”
i want gentiles to understand that Diaspora jews are getting squirrely rn bc we’ve been through this before and we can Tell the current period of relative acceptance is ending and we’re in for some shit.
I need more people to understand that Jews Are Evil (anti-religious) is not meaningfully different from Jews Are Evil (white supremacist) or Jews Are Evil (mediaeval catholic) or Jews Are Evil (conspiracy theorist). The parentheses don’t matter. They never have. If you think Jews Are Evil, you’re a fool and a bigot.

liveblogging this book because it's blowing my mind
I recently read that after Napoleon went to Egypt in 1798, France really wanted to start a French-Arab Empire. And it weaponized antisemitism really, really hard. Basically, trying to get the Arab world to unite with it against a common enemy.
The book I was reading heavily implied that France helped create and disseminate the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. You know: the unhinged tome that pretended to be a collection of minutes from a Secret Zionist Meeting, about how non-Jews were cattle and Jews would take over the world and stuff. The one that inspired and created support for the Nazis, and which the Nazi Party then republished and disseminated.
The one that was written by a Russian-French guy, published in Paris, and originally written in French.
This blew my mind. I was like, I'm sorry, are you saying that France helped create the Protocols?? because it wanted to build a French-Arab empire???? I need you to cite your sources????
I am very picky about my nonfiction books in this area, fortunately. It cited its sources. And I am reading the main one now. Which is available free online.
It's already kind of a lot?!??!
I'm only on the Foreword????
It talks about how Christianity, at its very beginnings, was in kind of a battle to separate itself from Judaism and get people to become Christians, not a new denomination of Jews. In Antioch, people were backsliding into becoming Jews:
I knew that there was a long, long pattern of people thinking of Jews as nefarious, murderous, destructive, evil, "baby-killers." I knew that French consuls and French church leaders pushed that narrative in multiple places in the 1800s, like the Damascus Affair.
But I didn't know it was so fucking explicit. I thought there was some plausible deniability involved. Not just, "Heyyyy, Jews are evil murderers, okay? You don't wanna be JEWS."
I looked this guy up to see when he said this.
The strongest attacks on Jews and Judaism by the Church Fathers are to be found in the Homilies of Chrysostom (344-407 C.E.) in his Antioch sermons.
uhhhhh that's at the very beginning of the Church. that's at the beginning of the Roman Empire adopting it as a state religion and giving it a ton of power and structure. that's the beginning.
He is considered to be among the most beloved and admired in Church history.
*naive nervous laughter*
His discourses were prompted by the fact that many Christians were meeting on friendly terms with Jews, visiting Jewish homes, and attending their synagogues.
I can tell it's way too early to be breaking out that gif. but it's my favorite gif. we're just gonna. take it as read that this is my reaction to, i'm betting, literally everything from here on down.
Hang on, I'm gonna read more of this actual book, but first I just need to share a few of the Chrysostom quotes from that site.
"The Jews sacrifice their children to Satan....they are worse than wild beasts. The synagogue is a brothel, a den of scoundrels, the temple of demons devoted to idolatrous cults, a criminal assembly of Jews, a place of meeting for the assassins of Christ, a house of ill fame, a dwelling of iniquity, a gulf and abyss of perdition."
"The Jews have fallen into a condition lower than the vilest animal. Debauchery and drunkenness have brought them to the level of the lusty goat and the pig. They know only one thing: to satisfy their stomachs, to get drunk, to kill, and beat each other up like stage villains and coachmen."
"The synagogue is a curse, obstinate in her error, she refuses to see or hear, she has deliberately perverted her judgment; she has extinguished with herself the light of the Holy Spirit."
Chrysostom further said that the Jews had become a degenerate race because of their "odious assassination of Christ for which crime there is no expiation possible, no indulgence, no pardon, and for which they will always be a people without a nation, enduring a servitude without end."
He elaborated further on God's punishment of the Jews:
"But it was men, says the Jew, who brought these misfortunes upon us, not God. On the contrary, it was in fact God who brought them about. If you attribute them to men, reflect again that even supposing men had dared, they could not have had the power to accomplish them, unless it had been God's will...Men would certainly not have made war unless God had permitted them...Is it not obvious that it was because God hated you and rejected you once for all?"
"I hate the Jews because they violate the Law. I hate the synagogue because it has the Law and the prophets. It is the duty of all Christians to hate the Jews."
The Crusades sound fun:
I just watched a YouTube video last night where someone said research shows that the "Myth/Fact" format of debunking things doesn't work. Like, when you repeat a myth a bunch of times, and then give people the truth, what they remember (at least subconsciously) is the myth you just repeated three times. It reinforces misinformation instead of fixing it.
Also, I could have happily lived the whole rest of my life without hearing about "torturing the consecrated wafer."
I know, I know, this is on me, I chose to read about people's nonsense.
welp
w e l p
Then the French Revolution and industrialization both led, at the same time, to massive changes across Europe. The former led to Jews getting citizenship rights and basic fucking civil rights for the first time. This was obviously (in retrospect) going to lead to a backlash. (It also wasn't a straightforward event. A lot of places in Europe went back and forth on it for decades.)
Fun!!
Hard disagree. I just read a massive thread on r/lgbt the other day, about the car ramming of a Pride parade in Europe, that immediately devolved into blaming all "Abrahamic religions."
A few people wanted to blame all religion; the response was consistently, "No, what about Buddhism and Wicca" and maybe a few others. Basically going, "no, not all religions come from Abraham, the father of the Jewish people."
He says the Protocols are "only the most celebrated and influential in a series of fabrications and forgeries reaching back almost to the French Revolution."
It's not looking good for France, y'all!
WOW. I was ready to make, like, a quick bullet-point list of the "fabrications and forgeries" and whatever. Then we took a SHARP turn into the Order of Templars????
I swear I've watched stuff where different characters had "Knights of Templar" conspiracy theories. I refuse to go look it up. Feel free to add on in the notes.
....
Also: THAT'S why Hamas's founding covenant calls out the Freemasons and the French Revolution???
I'm just.... I
I don't even know. I'm just gonna. Keep reading.
lmao
also, for the conspiracy-minded, I actually am gonna finish that screenshot
and apparently at the time most Freemasons were Catholic monarchists and "were guillotined by the hundreds."
Eyyyy, we might get some bullet points after all?
Barruel got the idea from the Scottish mathematician John Robison
Who was himself preparing a book called Proofs of a Conspiracy against all the Religions and Governments of Europe, carried on in the secret meetings of Freemasons, Illuminati and Reading Societies
Eighteenth-century mathematician: READING IS BAD, OKAY???
Also eighteenth-century mathematician: Except my book. You should read my book.
It came out the year after Barruel's. Barruel's was published in English, French, Spanish, Italian, and Russian, "and made its author a rich man."
holy shit it was FIVE VOLUMES LONG
in 1806 he got a letter "which seems to be the earliest in the series of antisemitic forgeries which was to culminate in the Protocols"
from an alleged army officer nobody has ever heard of or found called J. B. Simonini,
who claimed to have pretended to be Jewish and learned the greatest secrets of the Jews,
like that Jews everywhere were supposedly disguising themselves as Christians, supposedly infiltrating the highest ranks of the Church, supposedly had founded the Freemasons and Illuminati…
and now that some countries were giving them full civil rights, the Jews supposedly planned to buy up ALL lands and houses so Christians would have nowhere to live
which is extra wild. like. never mind how much money he had to imagine Jews had somehow gotten. just, like: "they're gonna BUY YOUR HOMES FROM YOU!!!!!"
oh no?????? don't do that???????? i guess????????
this would supposedly result in Jews then somehow abolishing all other religions and turning all the churches into synagogues and shit
like. how... I know this was early in the days of mass media, but how on earth did someone even in 1806 think that the Catholic Church controlled the entire world, and that getting control of it would let you eliminate every religion on earth
like sweetie. buddy. buddy sweetie. if that were possible, do you not think the Catholic Church would have already done it???? you can't project that level of power and control onto the Jews unless the Catholics already have it???????
idk maybe he was catholic and he thought only the catholic church could be trusted to... let other people have religions
and not enslave people hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
because he also thought Jews would enslave everyone after that
like. buddy, are you saying that a religion with the level of power and reach of the Catholic Church is going to uhhh.... kick every member of every other religion off of its land... then send people around the world to seize land and enslave people????
(Sophia on Golden Girls voice) PICTURE IT. Spain. 1492.
this footnote tho
I'm sorry, the League of Assassins is from real life???????
I mean. Not all of it, obviously.
In reality, the Freemasons felt much the same way about Jews as DC does: they're okay in very, very small doses, but they shouldn't really be a major part of anything.
yes, i do like my analogy, and i do feel pretty smug about it :D
Oh, this is a great footnote over here, actually: "Internal evidence has shown that [the Simonini letter] does indeed date from around 1806. M. Leon Poliakov, in a private communication to the author, has argued convincingly that it was fabricated by the French political police under Fouche with the object of influencing Napoleon against the Jews at the time of 'the Great Sanhedrin'; see below...."
In 1806, Napoleon fucked up. Not only was he already associated with the Jews, because the Napoleonic Codes gave them (and queer people!) civil rights. But then he organized an assembly of prominent French Jewish rabbis and scholars for political reasons - like making sure they were as submissive to him as the rest of France - and:

Bar Asraf, a 30-year-old resident of Sha’arei Tikva, died by suicide after shooting himself at the grave of his girlfriend, Liron Barda, who was murdered at the Nova festival during Hamas’s 2023 October 7 massacre.
Friends of Asraf told Walla that he had difficulty coping with the death of Barda.
"We were at my brother's wedding. He apparently started to feel lonely. You couldn't tell. He was always happy and laughing," his sister, Lihi, shared with Walla.
"His best friend was murdered in Nova. He has a tattoo of her, she was a part of his soul. At the groom's celebration, there was dancing and a Shabbat reception with a singer; it was magical. We were at the peak of the family's life."
“Yesterday he left, and I thought he went to be alone and think like he usually does,” his sister recounted.” An hour passed, then two hours passed, and my older sister said, 'Come on, we're going to look for him.’ First in the most logical places, and then we went to check Liron's grave. He loved talking there and being with her."
Lihi, who recalled the moment she found her brother, told Walla, "my sister had a feeling and told me, 'You go.' I walked over, and suddenly I saw him lying next to Liron’s grave. I said to him, 'Bar, get up, what are you doing again...' and then I realized he was covered in blood.”
“I stepped on a gun beside him. I screamed. I couldn't function. My father started CPR. I knew it was the end. He was cold. Magen David Adom tried everything. He died in the place he wanted to be most, with the woman he wanted to be with most,” she continued.
“He drove there on Shabbat, and he was a person who kept Shabbat," she said.
"He always told me, my joy, you are a fighter, everything. He was a good person, helped everyone. He bought food for those in need. He was so proud of me," she added. “He was actually coping well, but he had a moment of madness, being alone while seeing everyone with their families.”
“People need to know what Nova did to people,” Lehi emphasized. “On that day [October 7th], he started driving toward Re'im to save her, until he realized there was no one left to save and they turned him back halfway."
Barda worked as the bar manager at the Nova music festival in Re'im. Even though her friends and family begged her to flee, during the massacre she administered first aid to the wounded until she was murdered herself. The devastating news stayed with Asraf until his death.
"Bar was a special boy," his mother, Bracha, shared. "A boy of giving, of love. He gave his sister everything I couldn't give. He organized food for soldiers. There was nothing I asked for that he didn't give me.”
Bracha recalled Barda and Asraf’s relationship, describing them as “soulmates since childhood.”
“If he was feeling down, she would lift him up - she was his listening ear. Everything to him. Every problem he had, she was his confidante. When he was in Colombia, she surprised him and flew out to meet him there. A friendship you can't even describe,” she stated.
“There were three nerve-wracking days when we didn't know what happened to her at Nova. He stayed at my house and didn't leave my side from morning until evening, sitting with her entire family. He stayed in touch with them ever since, brought her mother bouquets of flowers, and got a tattoo of her."
His mother continued: "A little while ago, I saw him looking sad and asked what was wrong. He said, 'Mom, I'm sad. It's hard for me without Liron. I miss her. There's no one who can replace her, no one to cheer me up.' We felt he was struggling deeply without her. Last week, he went wild at a tavern event ahead of the wedding and dedicated a song to me and his father. We didn't see anything, not a single sign. It was his farewell party."
The Sha'ar Shomron Local Council shared its condolences with the Asraf family over the untimely death. "We send a warm hug to the dear family during this difficult time and wish to strengthen you in your great pain," the council stated.
'Trauma doesn't just affect the survivors'
Shiran Maor, Chairman of SafeHeart, which provides mental health support to survivors of the October 7th music festivals and their families, issued a statement of condolences.
“Our hearts break over this devastating tragedy. We share in the family's deep grief and stand with everyone who knew and loved him," Maor said.
"Trauma doesn't just affect the survivors. Partners, parents, family members, and friends carry immense pain as well, coping daily with the aftermath of loss and trauma," he said.

Six Israeli tourists were attacked last week at a campsite in northern Mongolia, according to a report published by Israel’s Ministry for Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism.
The assailants, who carried axes and knives, were said to be a group local Kazakh Muslims who shouted “Heil Hitler” before and during the attack, which took place on Monday, July 13.
The Israeli tourists, three men and three women, were settling in for the night when the attackers arrived.
“The Israelis recognized the threat as the attackers approached, quickly packed their equipment and put on closed shoes in preparation to flee, but were attacked before they could leave,” the report said. “The attackers appeared to target the group after hearing them speak Hebrew.”
The three Israeli men, all former IDF combat soldiers, fought back to protect the group and the attackers ultimately fled.
One of the Israelis suffered a fractured jaw and was flown back to Israel for medical treatment.
The incident came just days after a similar assault in Montenegro. On July 11, more than ten young men surrounded a group of Israelis in the coastal town of Budva.
“More than 10 young men cursed at us, kicked us, and threw chairs at us,” one of the victims told KAN News.
The beatings left one Israeli with a broken jaw. A second victim lost consciousness from the force of the blows.
In the face of chants of “Death to Israel,” Israeli striker Dor Turgeman responded with a goal last night in a Major League Soccer match between his New England Revolution and CF Montréal that ended in a 2-2 draw.
Throughout the match at Montreal’s Stade Saputo, a section of fans targeted the 22-year-old star with anti-Israel slurs, according to reports. But Turgeman delivered his response on the pitch in the 36th minute, with a goal that doubled New England’s early lead to 2-0.
Turgeman then celebrated directly in front of the opposing team’s fans with his arms outstretched. That escalated tensions on the field.
As fans threw cups and bottles on the field, Montréal goalkeeper Sebastian Breza confronted and shoved Turgeman to the ground, drawing a yellow card.
Turgeman, raised in Ashdod, signed with the New England Revolution last year after winning two Israeli Premier League titles with Maccabi Tel Aviv.

A swastika graffiti was drawn on the base of a statue of the Rambam, Rabbi Moses ben Maimon, in Cordoba, Spain, a local politician confirmed on Saturday, following media reports.
The graffiti was painted over the base of the statue, located in the heart of the Jewish quarters of Cordoba, in the Tiberiades plaza, with local authorities condemning the antisemitic attack.
Cintia Bustos, acting mayor of the city, said that the graffiti represented an attack against the city's heritage and lamented "the extreme seriousness of the message of hate it represents."
"The statue of Maimonides [Rambam] in Córdoba appears with a swastika. I have requested that it be cleaned immediately, but it is concerning the vandalism in our Historic Quarter, which attacks not only people but also our rich heritage," added local politician and spokesperson of the PSOE (Socialist Party) Córdoba, Antonio Hurtado.
The city's authorities later ordered a sign to be placed over the painted base of the statue, while work is being done to clean the swastika graffiti.
Spain's Jewish communities react to attack
"Our total repudiation of the targeting with a Nazi symbol of this Jewish, Sephardic, Cordoban, Spanish, universal figure," said the Federation of Spanish Jewish Communities in a Sunday statement.
"The Great Synagogue of Barcelona proudly bears the name "Maimónides," in homage to one of the greatest Sephardic thinkers in history, born in Córdoba," read another statement by the Barcelona Jewish Community, adding that "Maimónides belongs to the intellectual heritage of all humanity."
"Attacking his statue with a Nazi symbol is an attack on our shared history, on the Golden Age, on our culture, on the values of knowledge, freedom, and coexistence that his legacy represents. Hate can never prevail over culture."
The Rambam's statue was placed in Cordoba because he is buried in the city, and the statue was made to commemorate his importance to Spain's cultural heritage.
The statue, made out of bronze, was sculpted by Amadeo Ruiz Olmos in 1964 to commemorate the 760th anniversary of the Rambam's death.
The Cordoba municipality also said that a specialized team would be in charge of cleaning the statue, while Spain's Policía Nacional (National Police) would investigate the case.
Cordoba's suffers attacks against heritage sites
The graffiti is just one of many vandalism attacks that Cordoba's heritage sites have suffered in 2026, not all explicitly antisemitic in nature.
Back in April, ABC reported that Arabic letters were spray-painted on the city's Roman Bridge.
The report also mentioned a situation from two decades ago, where swastikas were painted over the Christ of the Lanterns monument.
with everyone posting conspiracy theories in regards to Spain for the past few days, not to mention the ongoing climate of incessant antisemitism there and across the diaspora…this is hardly a surprise.

The Diary of a Young Girl is the most popular Holocaust education book because it ends right before Anne Frank was sent to Bergen-Belsen. If her diary had continued until her death, it would have contained harrowing tales of slave labour, scabies, lice, the cold, hair loss, starvation, depression, and finally death from typhus.
People don't want to read about that. They like Anne Frank's diary because it's optimistic. She's funny and smart and she thinks that all people are good. Real Holocaust education would teach about what happened to the Jews. What was done to them by the Nazis. If you want to educate yourself about the Holocaust, read Night or Maus.
“I was okay with the criminal abuse, but I draw the line at ‘I stand with the Jews.’” says everything about this moment in time.
this is why people are okay with Nazi tattoos, with sexual assault allegations, with on camera animal abuse, with racist slurs, with supporting terrorist organizations, and yet supporting the Jewish community is an unforgivable sin.
I haven’t heard the “song” (again, the use of AI to create music immediately negates it for me), but I’ve read he doesn’t even mention Israel by name. that’s irrelevant, of course - because this isn’t about Israel. he mentions the atrocities that occurred at the Nova Festival and witnessing the rise of antisemitism, and that’s the worst transgression imaginable.
