Cara Drook, Reclaiming La Belle Juive, (2022 ā).
'"La belle Juive" translates to "the beautiful Jewess." It is an archetype of Jewish women that is repeatedly shown in paintings and media throughout history. "La belle Juive" is rooted in antisemitism and misogyny. My goal with this collection is to have Jewish women take control of their narrative and reclaim "La belle Juive." I want to return dignity to the subjects and show what truly makes Jewish women beautiful.'

re: LRB, tbh idk that we can call the Nazi presence in Pro-Palestine spaces āinfiltrationā when the Father of Palestinian Nationalism recruited for the Waffen SS, and that legacy has carried forward in the rhetoric and practices of nearly every government or major organization that the movement has spawned.
thatās what the cause has always been about.
Palestinians do have a right to form a state for āthe right to not be statelessā reasons, but thereās never been a time when the āFree Palestineā movement cared more about that than the negation of Israel, or was not defined by its antisemitism. this is not a good cause that went bad because outsiders poisoned it; it is a cause that has always had a venomous aspect, and purposefully keeps Palestinians in a position to be aggrieved for recruitment and fundraising purposes, in order to fuel an eternal intifada.
if anything, Jewish true believers, who genuinely care about the humanitarian dimension for both Israelis & Palestinians, are the infiltrators. we are the outliers who donāt belong in that movement, not the Nazis.
Gotta be honest, I feel like jumblr has a really big ableism problem and it makes me really sad to see it. The r slur is never acceptable and Iāve seen it used and excused several times.
It also really feels like itās just become a really hateful and miserable place in general. I completely understand why everyone is so jaded. I am also jaded and exhausted and I feel like every day Iām hit with new antisemitism somewhere completely randomly. I donāt feel like I have anyone to talk to about it. It fucking sucks. I get it. But thatās not an excuse or a reason to be hateful back, start name calling, be racist, or ableist.
I love being Jewish. I am so proud to be Jewish. But one of the things I loved most was our kindness, and Iām not seeing that in the community right now. It makes me so sad. I donāt feel safe in queer spaces anymore. I donāt feel safe in disabled spaces anymore. I used to feel safe here, but I donāt know if I do anymore, and Iām just sad.
this is semi-adjacent, but it's not a jumblr only problem, it's a current social media problem. creators using the r word, and relying on other horrible ableism, is rising everywhere. it's disheartening.
I literally just unfollowed a queer, Black, Jewish creator on IG because she posted the most heinously callous video laughing at a girl who was explaining how hard applying for disability is and how it made her want to give up. like that was all she was doing, sitting there laughing at this young woman describing how she was suffering, no commentary, just being cruel for the sake of it. being disabled and chronically ill and in extreme constant pain, I know the disability process is hell on earth, designed to exhaust you and work against you, and made to shut people in need out. the process took me years only for a denial. it was dehumanizing. if some stranger on the internet was making fun of me sharing how awful it was, it would break me even further. I couldn't believe I had to see that happening to someone this morning.
there is no excuse for things like this. there is no excuse for slurs, there is no excuse for ableism, just like there isn't for racism or any other type of discrimination. the fact that the Jewish community has suffered and been through a repeated cycle of horrors should make us more caring, not less.
anon, I haven't been feeling particularly safe either (a worse feeling after every other space has basically been closed to us), and I'm so sorry. I hope you're okay and am sending you encouragement. š¤
...are we not allowed to make jokes about politicians? it's not mean, it's not even criticism. I never even said the breaking bread comment was antisemitic (because it's not), it's like decorations for Passover that include dreidels, silly and amusing but not intentionally offensive.
editing to add: you know what, I really wasn't trying to be divisive, but I will say some people definitely are using this as an opportunity to do that (ie: making jokes about Ramadan), and that's gross. so maybe I shouldn't have laughed about it! but I'm also sad that we can't ever just be harmlessly irreverent anymore.

I honestly think we need to stop calling people antisemitic (a word created by a guy who hated Jews trying to give Jew hatred a more "scientific" name) and just straight up call them bigots/racists anytime they say anything Anti-Jew. Make them defend their shitty beliefs and attitudes without hiding behind "Not antisemitism, just antizionism."
its funny watching leftists parrot the exact same right wing 4chan antisemitic tropes but just replacing the word jew with zionist and some are even bold enough to say jew which is crazy š
from here
(full disclosure - I donāt know who he is and did not vet this manās whole account)
Iāve seen quite a bit of this in various places online for the last year or so, people incensed that Holocaust memorials exist in their countries despite them hardly having a Jewish population, and then suggesting itās some sort of nefarious propaganda plot. they really donāt get it.
like I said, antisemites always find the signals, even when others, including creatives, donāt realize what theyāve presented (response was on this, which showed up in my feed)

Cyberwell found that "nearly identical narratives" blaming Jews for wildfires in Norway, France, and Spain were spreading on X/Twitter in mu
Cyberwell has alerted X/Twitter of a new wave of antisemitic conspiracy theories blaming Jews for wildfires across Europe, the NGO announced in a statement on Monday.
The organization, whose goal is to combat online antisemitism, identified ānearly identical narrativesā regarding recent wildfires in Norway, France, and Spain, reinforcing what Cyberwell describes as a ārecurring pattern of event-driven antisemitism, in which major crises are exploited to spread hate toward Jews.ā
Posts in English, French, and Spanish claiming that Jewish people deliberately sparked the fires or orchestrated them for political or financial gain were identified by the organizationās analysts.
Cyberwell found that content on the Norway wildfires surpassed 2 million views on X, āhelping transform an isolated conspiracy into a broader wave of antisemitic content,ā according to the company.
Meanwhile, content on Spainās wildfires reached more than 69,100 users, according to Cyberwellās numbers.
Antisemitic conspiracy theories also emerged following the Los Angeles wildfires in 2025 and the Patagonia wildfires earlier this year, the company said.
Other theories have emerged following the White House Correspondentsā Dinner shooting and the hantavirus outbreak.
āCyberWell found that bad actors and antisemites repeatedly inserted Jews into breaking news through familiar antisemitic tropes portraying them as secretly responsible for disasters or as profiting from human suffering,ā the statement read.
āAs false claims spread,ā it noted, āposts increasingly incorporated dehumanizing language, calls to expel Jews, and well-known antisemitic imagery, including the āHappy Merchantā caricature.ā
The āHappy Merchantā depicts a Jewish man with exaggerated stereotypical facial features greedily rubbing his hands together, popular among white supremacists, according to the Anti-Defamation League.
Cyberwell CEO and Founder Tal-Or Cohen Montemayor said that āthe same scapegoating stories, once popular in Nazi propaganda during the Third Reich, now trend on every major social media platform after a crisis. Any major event can become a vehicle for blaming Jews online.ā
āWhether the story involves a wildfire, a disease outbreak, a shooting, or another international crisis, we repeatedly see the same conspiracy theories emerge within hours,ā Montemayor explained.
āThe details change, but the underlying message does not: Jews are maliciously portrayed as secretly orchestrating disasters or profiting from human suffering. This pattern demonstrates how antisemitism continuously adapts to the news cycle while recycling centuries-old myths.ā
The content, according to Cyberwell, is reflective of āantisemitic conspiracy frameworks recognized under the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) Working Definition of Antisemitism, which include collective accusations against Jews and conspiratorial claims of hidden Jewish control.ā
Eliya Cohen survived. He came home. And he wrote his story.
I asked him when his book would be available in English. His answer stunned me: thereās currently no publishing house in the U.S. or UK willing to do it.
His testimony matters. Survivors deserve to be heard ā and English-speaking readers deserve the opportunity to hear directly from them.
So, U.S. and UK publishers: what are you waiting for?

rent lowering gunshot time so i actually do not think all israelis are evil or that israeli companies are untrustworthy or indeed that israeli newspapers are wildly inaccurate simply because they are israeli. holding any of these views is bad and xenophobic actually. performative protests against israeli people existing in the global space a la refusing to play the israeli football team are completely ridiculous and also xenophobic. <3 bye if u think this post makes me bad and racist for some reason & maybe think about why you think that
