A couple gatcha game blogs reblogged my gambling post (with clearly the best intentions) and suddenly there's an influx of ppl angrily insisting gatcha games are not gambling in there
"You're guaranteed to get everything if you spend enough money" is a fucked up defense btw. People don't have infinite money, the gambling is happening in the attempt to get the pull they want for as little money as possible, and in the sunk cost fallacy that encourages them to spend more than they otherwise would. It's predatory through using many of the same mechanisms as traditional gambling, and it's fucking ridiculous and disgusting how much it has spread and how normalised it is.
