I was thinking more Blade Runner when I first saw it, which does make me wonder: why for a time WAS that the image of what the future would be; massive pyramids among skyscrapers in cities?

I guess bigger buildings = more advanced future was the philosophy back then. Getting better materials and better tech that allows to safely build massive mega-structures.

But why pyramids?

Egypt fascination maybe? I remember a bunch of shows and cartoons from my childhood that involved Egypt XD

Might be them being a massive geometric shape that's easy to draw/model but is very distinctly different looking from the usual architecture.
