I don’t think I talk about it that much, but I’ve had this idea of a arranged marriage au for a while now, and recently the idea for this comic got dropped in my mind and wouldn’t let me go. I imagine both of these scenes happening a few days after they first received the paintings of their fiancée, with Arthur deciding to come to terms with things and accepting the woman in the painting as his future bride, while Harriet is practically at the end of her rope over the situation.
A sketch comic featuring Arthur from the red shoes and the seven dwarfs and my oc Edda (A pale chubby woman, with deep eyebags and dark hair). It’s an arranged marriage au, where Edda is a princess named Harriet, she’s dressed in a frilly and lace covered princess dress, with simple earrings on her earlobes, and her hair pulled into a high ponytail, with decorative lace around her hair tie shaped like flower petals. The first two images are paintings Arthur and Harriet received when they got betrothed, Arthur standing triumphantly with one boot on a dead dragons snout, and Harriet gently gazing at the viewer with her mouth opened slightly, her eyebags omitted from the painting. The following four panels shows Arthur contemplating the painting of Edda, first glaring at it sceptically, before leaning in with a look of concentration. He then leans his head back, his eyes closed in serious thought, though his cheeks are darkening. Four small Harriets surround him as he leans his head back, glowing slightly, one hovering playfully beside his face, two resting against him (one on his head and the other on his hand), and a final one is hovering by his shoulder, looking at him adoringly. In the fourth panel he grins and turns his head to the side, still blushing and admitting to himself “Maybe this whole thing isn’t all that bad.” Three more panels shows how Edda dealing with the paining of Arthur, all under the text reading “Meanwhile…”. The first panel shows her glaring up at something while hugging a pillow, her face cast in shadow so only her eyes are visible, and they are wide open her pupils constricted to shaking pinpricks. The second shows she’s looking at the paining, and how she’s loosening her grip on the pillow so she can hold it in her hands. The final panel shows her attempting to furiously strangle the pillow, while still glowering at the paining, her mouth now visible as she grits her teeth. It’s signed Cookieek.
