rui has definitely dumpster dived before. in fact i'd bet he does it like every other week. he doesn't like seeing perfectly good things go to waste. don't worry he makes sure to properly clean, disinfect, and sanitize everything he gets out of there. one time his troupe members caught him mid dive and freaked out, except for emu who was pretty much on board with it.
i told my dad the joke “dad jokes are just mom jokes that a man repeated louder” and he thought it was hilarious. he turned to my mother, intending to relay the joke to her, and a bare second after he opened his mouth i watched it dawn on his face that he was about to become the subject of the joke. when i tell you that man was slackjawed as he turned back to me, like he had an entire life altering realization in the span of about 20 seconds.
Alright since a lot of ppl seem really confused I wanted to answer a question I saw in the tags

writing is all fun and games until the scene requires a location
It’s very funny to me when TERFs and transphobes talk about how fake and ugly neovaginas are because I know exactly how full of shit they are. I’m a certified nursing aide. If you’re not familiar, 90% of our job is toileting. We also help with feeding, dressing, cleaning, and transferring, but if you think of how many times a day you need to pee versus the rest of that, you can understand just how much time your average CNA spends looking at genitalia. I haven’t even been doing this for two years and I’ve seen way more vaginas than I could count.
Anyway, when I was doing some training, I overheard two CNAs from a different facility saying this:
CNA 1: Did you know that [patient] is transgender?
CNA 2: Wait really?
CNA 1: Yeah, she was telling me about it. I never would have guessed.
CNA 2: Oh yeah I definitely couldn’t tell.
These people look at vaginas for God only knows how many hours a week with the amount that most CNAs pick up shifts. Plus they work in a nursing home, so this was an elderly woman. She could have gotten her bottom surgery 40 years ago when surgical techniques weren’t as advanced as they are now. These people who professionally work with genitalia still had no clue she wasn’t born with hers until she told them.
So next time you see someone talking about how neovaginas are don’t look real or are just open wounds or whatever, please know they’re just wrong. If a CNA can’t tell a neovagina from before current advances in vaginoplasty apart from the cis ones they look at every day, neither can they.
(Obvious disclaimer that a) with absolutely any surgery, some people will get bad results, so not every single neovagina is impossible to tell apart from a cis one, and b) being indistinguishable from a cis person is not every trans person’s goal, we shouldn’t have to pass to be valid, and some surgical techniques like zero-depth or phallus-preserving vaginoplasty won't be identical to a cis vagina by design. Neither of those detract from my point)
Something ive always been annoyed about is the term and concept of Autogynephilia or "AGP". The idea that cis men roleplaying as women during sex is anywhere near the same as feeling that you should have been born a woman is so bizarre and dense. It both paints trans women as sexual deviants who are only expressing their gender because it arouses them, AND shames trans women who discovered themselves through sex or kink, or who's gender identity ended up shaped by their sexuality because the brain likes to overlap sex gender and sexuality. The latter is the part that really bothers me because ive seen it parroted in queer spaces. "Oh she only had bottom surgery because she wanted to have sex while having a vagina" have you considered that she realized she wanted bottom surgery BECAUSE sex felt wrong or off for her? Why should she be shamed because she discovered herself in a way that YOU find distasteful? Not to mention if a cis man got SURGERY that completely changed his sex organ because he wanted to experience sex while having a vagina... Hes not entirely cis or gender conforming and ALSO doesn't deserve to be shamed for his body modification.
I am honestly kind of peeved that MLP G6 (at least from what I’ve seen) is still continuing the trend of desperately clinging onto the G4 characters/worldbuilding.
Don’t get me wrong, I obviously love G4. G4 is the generation I fell in love with My Little Pony. It just really frustrates me that every other generation has fallen by the wayside in favor of having the same 4-6 main characters over and over again.
A generation is supposed to update the setting and world for new viewers. It changes up the formula for the current kids who are watching it. Maybe it’s silly to wish that the concepts would update alongside that, but I really do. I actually really liked that G5 had some of that! It didn’t do it perfectly, but hey, it was a new perspective!
I just really want older generation characters to have some of the spotlight again. I want new characters. I want the concept of these ponies to be fluid instead of stagnant. I’m okay with change. I really, genuinely wish things were allowed to change.
one of my least favourite things about this website. "op have you considered that [the thing op was saying]"
giggling at this because this is ALSO awful and is ALSO the exact opposite example of what i was saying in my post i love this

My biggest pet peeve in books is American authors that assume everyone knows as much about America as they do. Oh, the main character drove from Atlanta to St. Louis overnight? Okay. Is that fast, is that slow? Where are those places? "He eats Domino's every day". Is that good, is that bad? Does this imply they are poor or wealthy???This means nothing to me, please give me just a crumb of context!!
Normalize American novels having maps of the country in the front and a glossary of American words in the back like those epic fantasy books have!
Is it the freedom
It's the venting. In the USA, dryers have massive exhaust vents to the outside of the room/building that take the hot wet away and leave hot dry behind. In many other countries, dryers do not generally have external exhaust vents, and simply fill the room they are in with the hot wet, which may or may not be enough to actually remove the hot wet from the clothing depending on how well ventilated the room itself is.
for this reason 1) you generally can't leave the dryer open in winter without causing a draft and 2) sometimes when you're walking around outside in the US the world will suddenly smell of clean laundry because you're near someone's house and their dryer is running
And 3) Eventually your drier stops drying things so well and you have to hire somebody to bring a ladder up to the vent (either high up an exterior wall or on the literal roof) and clear out the accumulated lint and cruft blocking it
You ought to do this regularly even if the dryer efficiency remains the same, because dryer lint is fantastically competent at burning your damn house down if you let it catch fire.
I'm in Australia (no exhaust vents), and I've found that if your dryer starts making hot wet laundry, you first clean out the lint trap that you already know about and clean every time, and then you go looking for the second secret lint trap that nobody told you about and clean out the year's worth of lint in there that you were blissfully unaware of. The dryer will now mostly dry your laundry again, and give you either hot dry laundry or hot just-very-slightly-damp laundry.
Fool me once I kill myself on the spot
crying and pissing and shitting etc

i know it's been said on here and said again but people do so desperately need to genuinely do intentional work to build distress tolerance and start figuring out how to recognize the differences between danger, discomfort, and when a situation that is merely uncomfortable is triggering an emotional flashback in your bodies because it resembles a past situation that actually was dangerous which makes it difficult to realize/believe that this moment is merely uncomfortable.
i spoke to an allistic person who said their autistic classmate had a meltdown in class, during which the autistic classmate collapsed to the floor in the middle of the room, screaming and crying. they said it was "terrifying" and they were arguing for the autistic student to be removed permanently from the program.
when i asked whether their autistic classmate's meltdown was dangerous or merely uncomfortable, they said, "i felt like i was in danger!"
i understand that. but that's not what i asked.
"i shouldn't have to experience that."
yes you should, actually. that's life. upsetting things happen. no one should have to experience any discomfort. but we do. we get stung by bees and sunburns and headaches. we live in bodies in the world.
autistic people are human beings who have the right to exist in society, including during meltdowns. having one class of your entire semester interrupted by a singular meltdown is not anymore of an infringement upon your entitlement to education than having your class interrupted by a fire alarm or cancelled for a snow storm.
one of my peers once experienced a cardiac event 10 minutes into class. it was terrifying. it was desperately upsetting. i was contacted by the school and offered counseling afterward because i happened to be the one who managed the situation until paramedics arrived. no one should have to experience their classmate being hauled off in an ambulance, but it happens. everyone was worried about my classmate first and foremost, and then about me. no one blamed anyone, and certainly when my classmate happily recovered and returned to school, no one thought they should be removed from the program.
the difference being that people believe a disabled personal, especially with cognitive disabilities, in crisis are not experiencing something outside of our control, but instead that we doing something. that we are in fact making a choice to cause a scene, out of malice.
"they were arguing for the removal of the autistic student" multiple times in my life i've seen visibly symptomatic ID/DD people either be physically removed or removed from/bullied out of a chatroom
especially for the comfort of "well behaved" ID/DD people
the time when i was young and a girl came up to me and started playing with my hair so i started crying and all the abled adults went quiet and started acting like she was a bomb they had to defuse and eventually literally swept her up like she was a load of laundry and carried her out
i've seen 2 disabled people manhandled out of a room for "misbehaving", and been the one manhandled out myself too
there's a part in the ugly laws: disability in public by susan schweik about seizures which makes a point i want to add onto:
"consider this account, written by charles henderson in 1906, of what happens if a member of the public sees an epileptic seizure:
(quote:) in sociable intercourse the epileptic is an object of dread, and no one who has witnessed the person in a convulsion can quite escape from the haunting memory of the spectacle and entirely free his mind from terror or disgust. hence there cannot be that free, unconstrained, and natural converse which gives pleasure to society. (end quote)
[...]
this kind of thinking, to which the ugly laws have obvious links, often goes along with a certain kind of understanding of the public sphere. public space, in this model, is pedagogic space; what you allow in public is what children learn is allowed in public. if you allow unsightliness a foothold, the next generation will be even uglier. to display something publicly is to spread it."
the amount of times i've seen autistic people discourse about "when you meet someone who is more autistic than you", making justifications for their intolerance: "it's because you're afraid they'll get you in trouble, or get in trouble. your discomfort is a trauma response. it's not ableism". aspie supremacy. "it can't be autism it has to be something else". the equation of being unable to "overcome" autism (and disability in general) with deliberate, malicious carelessness, moral laziness, weaponized incompetence (or seeing "unmasked" disability as a deliberate anti-authoritarian performance of freedom), to justify discomfort or disgust or annoyance or a feeling of invalidation. to sever association. "they're not like me, i'm not with them, i choose to behave, so i'm good, and i think they choose not to behave, so they're bad"
Ok, so, bottom surgery recovery is going ~splendidly~ tbh, I’ve been off opioids basically all week, she’s healing well, she even looks pretty which at under the one-month mark is making me feel pretty optimistic. The only problems it’s giving me are that sometimes if I see something really gross it makes my body feel like it’s trying to suck itself inward from my vagina, like a black hole generated by the power of “ew ew ew,” and that healing is really tiring so I’m like…always sleepy. But tbh most of bottom surgery recovery has been peaceful, I’ve had a lot of time to do some self-reflection (which I hate, doing my own therapy as a patient suuuuuucks), BUT, I do have one funny story:
Right as I wake up there’s a nurse there who hustles over and says he’s glad he saw me wake up and tells me he’s giving me some pain meds and then he gives me IV Fentanyl and so I go from like “Ow ow ow ow awake awake awake” to “ooooooh fuck I’m floating on clouds made of rainbows” in like 6 seconds and so I was pretty out of it. The hospital had all the recently-post op patients all in one big-ass room, and they see patients for ALL sorts of surgeries, so I was next to an old guy who got his knee replaced on one side and some young 30-something dude with some kind of mechanism on his leg. So I asked him what happened since I was high as fuck and feeling kind as a result, and he said he broke his leg hiking off-trail when his leg went down a literal rabbit hole and snapped his shinbone. I say something like “damn dude that blowssssss” while giggling because I’m high as FUCK on actual fentanyl and he’s like “Yeah, for real, I’m feeling great right now though! What about you? What are you in here for?”
And I fully was not thinking like a person, I was thinking like a fentanyl-addled tgirl so I just go “Oh, haha, they cut my dick off!”
And he just kinda stops and is like “Hah-WAIT what? Why?” and I was trying to think of an acceptable answer to tell this cis guy because it’s dawning on me through my drug-induced haze that not everybody wants their penis gone and before I can think of a response two nurses just came up and…wheeled him away. Idk where to, and I don’t think he did either, because he kept looking back at me and frantically asking the nurses where they were taking him and I never gave him an adequate response so he probably thought he was gonna get that “Transgender for Everyone” shit before he was probably actually delivered to whoever his ride home was.
