the degree that parents of young children seem to think Baby Shark came out of nowhere astounds me. this is a DECADES-OLD camp song, that has spanned generations. 

i am not a parent of a young child but i worked at summer camps for years and let me tell you before it was ruined by parents of young children baby shark was the most fun camp song ever. kids went buckwild over baby shark. but then it had to be commercialized. you ruined it. yall motherfuckers stay away from the bear song or we’ll have words

As someone who is writing wedding thank you’s it’s lucky most of my family gave gifts I can talk about (”The homemade kimchi you gave us was so delicious; we made a wonderful fried rice with it just last night and thought of you guys. Can’t wait to also use the sourdough starter you sent.”) but this might help with writing to my husband’s great-aunt I met one time who sent a bunch of Pyrex.

The Sith would be way funnier if they were Opposite Jedi but like… REALLY and LITERALLY the exact opposite of the Jedi. Not only is sex allowed, celibacy is BANNED. Jedi can’t use the force for personal reasons? What if you forget an entire song?

NO BUT REALLY

My choir director loved to tell this story where she was in Italy singing in an Italian opera, and totally forgot the words, knowing that a horribly mean critic was watching. She just spewed a bunch of random Italian, and at one point ordered a pizza in Italian. The critic commented on her beautiful diction and connection to the text.

That is the most amazing diction substitution I’ve ever heard.

The most realistic part about this is that this is clearly a funeral, which means you died a week before this and the manager still didn’t plan to cover your shifts

This is also a great point because people like to think Marilyn Monroe was vapid and dumb due to her film roles but she was actually incredibly intelligent and also just a great person all around, just like how Elle might seem dumb but is able to get into law school on her own merit. Neither should be underestimated!
