The older i've gotten the more i've come to think that a substantial amount of people (mostly men) don't really have an internal sense of morality. Like there are two questions they ask themselves when deciding to do something and that is 1. will this benefit me and 2. will i face negative consequences for doing it. and that's it. No asking themselves if it negatively impacts others, just selfishness.

The connection is self-objectification taken to the extreme. Making yourself into an object that can't feel pain, can't sense what's being done to it, just exists to be seen and felt and enjoyed by others. It's harder to make yourself into the abuse object that men expect you to be if your body is still able to warn you against it, so you have to turn off the warnings. Being a feeling and thinking and experiencing animal is incompatible with being an object that exists for the enjoyment of sadistic men, so the numbing agents help you convert yourself from animal to object.

I wish genderists– especially white genderists– would actually recognize the harm they put us girls/(young) women under. There was rarely anything positive from non-Western identities, it was mostly prescriptive just like Western identities.

Societies have always had ways of “managing” those who do not conform to gender norms. This doesn’t mean that this is a positive thing because most of that management meant that gender nonconforming people will be treated as second-class citizens in society, similar to the way women are already treated. Instead of trying to model our current gender discourse after other societies who still treat women and gnc men poorly, why can’t we look outside the box and create a society where people can act, look, And be whom they want; where gender doesn’t mean anything and people can simply exist as they are.

Also, “Two Spirit” was coined at a conference in the 90s. It’s not some Traditional Ancient Idea — it was a couple of navel-gazers in a ballroom somewhere.

i feel like supporting this mindset can also hinder women from believing they should defend themselves against a rapist in the first place. it’s essentially a way of saying— “you’re about to be raped, and there’s nothing you can do about it because murdering him is worse then him raping you.”
