idk man, i'm actually kind of pissed off. maybe one of the reasons people don't want you using the ineffable husbands tag on asa/anthony content is that canonically

... and also because some people would like to continue to engage with this fandom and fanworks without being jumpscared by the couple that only exists because Aziraphale and Crowley were evaporated/annihilated/willingly chose to die - which is by definition, suicide - on screen without any content or trigger warnings. and that was a really horrifying moment to a lot of people. regardless of your interpretation of what happened after in the finale, people were in fact traumatized by it.

i have not browsed ao3 for new fics since may 13th because i don't want to have to see any of that. i'm just going to continue to only browse for fics written before may 13/only read newer fics that are recommended to me until i can find my way out of this cycle of grief. but i think a lot of people would really appreciate it if this fandom could be courteous, responsible, and empathetic in their tagging.

they really gave us a female lead in a star wars movie & made her kind and good and angry and powerful and complex & then spent the next 2 movies revolving almost her entire storyline around a white male war criminal who abused her, abused her friends, abused her family. all the while validating all the people who romanticized gaslighting and torture. for fan service lmao

they also gave us a strong black male lead who was kind and rebelled against his entire way of life when he saw the atrocities he was expected to take part in. He risked his life to save others and was shown to love and care deeply for his friends and willing to sacrifice himself to save him. Then the next two movies infantilize him to be this weak self preserving side character with literally no agency beyond yelling other character’s names.

They also gave us a Latino sci-fi hero who was an ace fighter pilot with a heart of gold and a wealth of courage who showed an incredible amount of support and kindness and trust towards a man who he had just met. Then the next two movies relegated him to being a chronic fuck-up and then ret-conned his ace pilot backstory in service of a racist drug dealer backstory to make him more like Han Solo

hey so does the #ForTerry shit by finale defenders piss anyone else off? like the endless refrains of “this was for terry! this is the ending he wanted! this was what he planned all along!” in addition to being a pointless argument it’s also exploiting a dead man’s name and reputation to distract from the reality that GO3 was a product of Neil Gaiman and two of his friends. it was right there in the end credits. three writers were listed for the teleplay and only Gaiman was listed for the television story. that’s it!

like whose word are they taking for GO2/3 being from plot discussions for a never-materialized sequel to the book? Neil Gaiman?? Pathological liar and serial abuser Neil Gaiman?? give me a fucking break. as if his general character isn’t enough to make it clear he is not a trustworthy source, the man already lied through his teeth about S1 being the totality of show!omens and switched up the story to justify an obvious cash+attention grab. and some people are still taking his word that this is what he and Pratchett supposedly planned? without a shred of actual concrete evidence? i need them to expeditiously get a fucking grip

and quite frankly I don’t give a shit what anyone on the production team or from the Pratchett Estate has said on the matter. because to be blunt i’m sure it eases the discomfort of having helped produce a Gaiman creation post-2024 to focus on the other co-writer of the book and pretend it was for/inspired by him. as for whatever the Pratchett estate has said, shockingly enough being the executor of an estate does not grant you moral authority nor divine omniscience into a dead person’s thoughts. but i do think Pratchett’s whole “bulldoze my works-in-progress after I die” request sent a pretty fucking clear message that his estate ignored in favor of making money. and they got monkey paw’d by allowing Gaiman to continue writing for, and thereby forever tarnishing the legacy of, something that was at least 75% a Pratchett creation.

it’s whatever if people liked the finale but liking it AND spinning a narrative that obfuscates the ginormous rancid elephant in the room is just plain fucked up. like i get this is a “why were YOU at the devil’s sacrament situation” but at a bare minimum i think being in fandom where the source material’s creator did/does terrible things requires honesty and accountability about that fact, but apparently that’s too much for some good omens fans. this is like the final boss of the internet’s misuse of Death of the Author as a way to ignore difficult issues and pretend a creator’s opinions/biases/ideologies don’t influence their creations. turns out you don’t have to navigate complex moral dilemmas if you just distort reality and refuse to acknowledge said moral dilemmas! who knew!
