so, like, in this AU, male asha is the son getting sent to winterfell while quen is the daughter staying at pyke? i'm not sure how interesting asha would be as a dude, but it could be a fun role-reversal where quen is the one with all the friends/connections on the iron islands while asha is the one who has been alienated from her (his?) home/culture.

When you don't have a bio daughter to parentify, so you have to use your daughter-in-law.

given how close in age aeron and rodrik jr (alannys' first kid) were (probably. the greyjoy timeline is the most FUCKED of any family in the series), i like to imagine alannys was actually acquainted with unnamed lady sunderly before her presumable death-during-childbirth.

so maybe there were some months/years where alannys and ygraine (my name for lady sunderly) daydreamed about raising their sons together 🫶 then, well!

#unpopularopinion but alannys is not woke. back in the day, she was 100% down with balon's Make The Iron Islands Great Again shtick. she was his nancy reagan if nancy reagan supported domestic violence against husbands specifically and thought every greenlander should die like a dog.

the greyjoy rebellion obviously changed her irrevocably, but i imagine when quellon was still around (pre-RR), she thought he was a pussy liberal. alannys was raised that way tho, since i HC that quellon greyjoy and henrik harlaw (my name for alannys' peepaw) had crazy amounts of old man beef.

it's also my HC that alannys didn't expect to like balon going into their marriage, but it's cuteeee if they legit did kiss kiss fall in love ❤️ like literally she was fearless and crazier than him. she was his queen, and drowned god help anyone who dared disrespect his queen.

stannis is actually the less bad (but still bad) option. the REAL nightmare scenario is casterly rock with grandpa tywin. bro would definitely be doing some saw shit to his child ironborn hostage. alternatively theon actually has a great time at tyrion's debauchery and daddy issues summer camp.
