Waking up next to you is like waking up with the sun in the room

No longer hidden on the other side of a steel door interwoven with padlocks of my shame and fear

Always resting just off in the sky but out of my reach entirely

I feel your heat and security

I feel your brightness beaming from within

I’m so proud of you for making it through 

It means you now get to live your authentic truth

Without lugging all of your pain in the activities you partook in to ensure that you kept surviving each day

I see you in every shining star in the dark

My heart sees your heart

I slowly reemerged out of the world’s biggest hole in the earth

Dug deeper with bloody fingertips in every attempt to find a way out of my own consciousness 

My mind has been the most beautiful field of wildflowers and ladybugs since you first planted your roots in my souls soil

I hope that you continue to thrive there

Because it is my favorite place to be when you aren’t right next to me
