modern day whoâs on second
âme saw who! me saw who!!!â
I cannot stop watching this video. Itâs fucking hilarious and Iâve watching itâs approximately 20 times already
Being part of the social justice culture or the âstay wokeâ culture, I usually thought that the main purposes were to:
1) Unlearn what was taught to you
2) Learn what was never taught to you
3) Educate those around you with the knowledge you have
But you seeâŚ
You will come across people that will ask questions that may sound problematic but they just genuinely are confused about the matter and just want to learn
I had a white girl, sweet as hell, that was curious about why White people canât say the N-word but Black people can say it.
Now⌠If this was Black Tumblr/Twitter, y'all wouldve ate her alive and spit her out. Like, why would you ask a question like that????
I didnt take any offense to the question, because again, you have to educate.
I broke it down simplyâŚ
âBitch was a term used by men against women⌠If you call your female friend âmy bitchâ, theres nothing wrong with that⌠but if a guy did the same thing to his female friend, that wouldnt not look too goodâŚâ
Then she understood! She doesnt like when men call her or other women bitches but she noticed how women call each other bitches (almost) all the time in a friendly context.
Some SJW ppl would resort to just straight ridicule. Like relentlessly roast you, and you just wanted to ask a question, get your answer, and just go.
I understand some people would come outta nowhere with smartass comments and deserve that roasting, im 120% for that, but yall really need to learn the difference between those 2 groups of people.
I remember saying/doing something problematic not too long ago. This guy just went off on me, called me stupid, and vaguely explained why what I did was problematic. When I asked for a more in-depth answer as to why it was an issue, he didnt want to explain, he didnt have the âenergyâ to explain but had plenty of energy to say what i did was wrong and i was stupid to do it.
To this day, I STILL dont know exactly what was wrong but I am avoiding that action for sure.
To cut it shortly for yall,
Some people genuinely dont know what they do/say was wrong. Some ask questions to learn and educate themselves. RelaxâŚ
Ridicule or slander shouldnt be a first option to everything, if anything, its more counterproductive. Not to mention yall do this for notes and attention on social media.
ALL. OF. THIS.
This shits still relevant

I feel like itâs time we talked about how there is no such thing as universal accessibility. One space cannot be accessible for every single person. And I donât say that to suggest that we just shouldnât try making spaces as accessible as possible, but rather to say how important it is that we have multiple, different spaces.
A place that is well-lit and has lots of natural light will help many visually impaired people, but it will be a nightmare for anyone with photo-sensitivity. A small, dimly lit, quiet space might be ideal for somebody with sensory overload, but not for somebody with claustrophobia. A solarpunk utopia where the cities are filled with plants and trees and green might massively help the populationâs depression and general spirits, but it would be hell for anyone with autoimmune disorders and allergies.
At the LGBTQ+ Christian group I go to, there are some really flamboyant, loud, and excitable extroverts there, who love to sing their hearts out and clap and dance during worship. There are also people who have sensory issues and anxiety exacerbated by loud noise. It cannot be a safe-space for everyone to express themselves freely, if itâs also a safe space for those with anxiety.
In a learning environment, one child with ADHD may need to bounce their leg or fidget with something in order to concentrate, while another autistic child finds that incredibly distracting and makes them anxious.
A small, tight, cosy space thatâs reminiscent of a village pub or small cottage might be ideal for making me feel comfortable, sheltered and reducing my anxiety and social exhaustion, but it wouldnât be very accessible for a wheelchair user or someone with physical mobility issues. I am both of those people.
Nobody is doing anything wrong, nobody is being victimised by another person, thereâs no right and wrong in these situations. Itâs just that those people have opposing needs that canât be accommodated in the same space at the same time. And we need to talk about that.
Whatâs important is that we create different spaces to cater to a multitude of needs, and that we listen to peopleâs needs. Most importantly we need to look at which groups of people and which needs are often ignored, and which people have very little access to spaces.
This is incredibly important.
This is definitely true, and although I know this was mentioned in the original post I do want to reiterate that situations like these arenât any individual disabled personâs fault and itâs not up to you to make your own needs smaller so that youâre not infringing on someone elseâs
I find it difficult with situations like this because itâs easy for internalized ableism to act up and tell you that you should be smaller and try to stay out of the way and not bother other people with your needs.
But thatâs not true, and your needs do matter, even if itâs difficult to meet everybodyâs needs at the same time. The problem is not your needs. The problem is a society that isnât prioritizing ways to create a variety of spaces and solutions that meet everybodyâs needs
It appears that boredom lies behind the most creative ideas. That's why quarantine has produced some of the most entertaining activities. One of them is the Getty Museum challenge, that so many of you have already seen in our previous article here.

What Happens When Zookeepers Have Too Much Time On Their Hands

I think I already reblogged this but im gonna do it again because this is a good reminder on how toxic gatekeeping it.
Iâm reblogging this for the amount of thought that was put into figuring out the necessary configuration for a mertaur wheelchair.
MMMMM, the LAYERS to this.Â
Sheâs technically a monster too. She might not look it at first glance and seems mostly human, but it isnât deniable even despite her looks compared to the other monsters.Â
But she realizes that she is still not like the rest of the monsters either and may not have entirely the same experiences as them, which is why she feels that she might not belong to or deserve to go to the support group. By sometimes passing as human, she feels she isnât worthy of the space.Â
The sad reality though is even though sheâs mostly human in appearance, that tail she has undeniably would still cause her some struggle. Humans are still gonna look at that tail and think sheâs a freak. There are probably still accommodations she needs because of the tail that she may still struggle to have access to. Even if it is just the tail, that tail is still enough to other her from humans and cause her problems and discrimination.Â
She should get to belong in that support group even if she gets told sheâs not monster âenoughâ. She still shares some of the same struggles as them that are caused by being a monster, and needs support.Â
This is an excellent demonstration of the flaws in the concept of passing privilege. Bravo to the artist.Â
NOW I will reblog this.
The thing about trans women that people donât talk about enough is the voice problem. Many of us are afraid to admit it, but thereâs something incredibly degrading about being expected to alter the way we use our voice around people.
Really, like, the way that trans women are taught and expected to speak is incredibly tedious, unnatural, and obviously forced to the ear of any speech pathologist. So the âsolutionâ is for us to go âfull-timeâ and essentially ditch the voice that comes naturally.
It isnât right, but thereâs no winning in either case. People will misgender you if you speak naturally, and if you do try to use your âfeminizedâ voice youâre honestly putting yourself at risk of violence, and how the fuck am I supposed to feel confident when knowing full well that the sounds coming out of me arenât genuine or convincing to anyone?
This is a serious fucking problem that doesnât get addressed. Trans women are expected to find services and often pay absurd sums of money to get training or âtherapyâ for the voice, but all you are really doing is practicing the art of speaking in a submissive and stereotyped voice. Enter radfems, who would then use this as a weapon against us, claiming that we are perpetuating *ppfffpffpfafbloobpblboooblbllblblpp* by using our voices in a way that makes us feel safe.Â
But, unless youâre the lucky 5-10% of trans women who can pass even after speaking, that safety is not only unlikely, but more often than not people are going to look at you with disgust and of course you know what happens once youâre outed.
Why should I have to talk like a fucking cartoon character? Cis women do NOT sound the way that these voice experts insist they do, because trans women have to speak primarily with a head tone, completely forgoing the chest and therefore removing the part of the sound that makes it sound like speaking and not fucking squealing.
If you care about trans women, expecting us to change our voices in order to pass as cis is fucking gross.Â
read this in its entirety.Â
It shouldnât be mandatory for trans people to do anything for others unless they want to. If a trans woman is ok using her natural voice, fucking let her. But on the other hand, donât give her shit if she wants to try to alter it. You can make the argument about âman voicesâ all day long, but it then contradicts that lots of cis women have deep voices. Is voice usually indicative of gender? Sure. But does tiny squeaky voice = woman? Nope, and you can fuck off if you think it does.
THE COCOAPUFF GIRLS
So about this project. For awhile now Iâve noticed almost every single time I see a darker skinned black woman âgoing viralâ, sheâs half naked, oiled up, and/or sexualized in some way shape or form. Itâs very rarely ever âLook at this amazing dark skinned woman who accomplished this thing.â Or âLook at her smile, sheâs gorgeousâ. Â Please donât misinterpret what Iâm saying. There is nothing wrong with darker women and black women in general being free and expressive about their sexuality and provocative features. BUT that is NOT ALL they are. They are so much more than sexual beings, but for some reason, that seems to be almost the only thing that grabs viral appreciation. So hereâs my attempt to have darker skinned black women go viral for just being cute, creative, stylish, bubbly, beautiful, and black. Aside from the videographer EVERYONE involved in this project IS A BLACK WOMAN. I hope you guys like it. I ask that if you enjoyed this and agree with my objective, share it with a few people please.
A special thank you to @aggienes, I couldnât have done this without her.

âA picture showing a man or a woman jumping off a window is a picture of a person with psychiatric issues who, suddenly, acts in an incomprehensive way, if we exclusively frame the person leaning out of the window or falling from it. However, were we to enlarge the field of vision in order to obtain the whole image, we would be able to see, for example, a line of police vans with military equipment about to evict the person in question.
The real reason behind the act is the situation of vulnerability with regards to basic items necessary to live that many people experience in our time. Knowledge of the specific facts, the missing parts of the image, make the supposed psychiatric issues melt like snow in the sun.
Psychiatry is the act of eliminating context. Psychiatry doesnât listen, it doesnât want to listen, it doesnât want to know. It only considers the fragment, an unjustified behavior or an idea openly in contrast with social conventions and it silences it.
Going back to the picture of the person who jumps off the window: the cut that eliminates the police aggression will be made by, for instance, a newspaper that belongs to the bank who evicts the person. This would lead to the apparent non-existence of a cause for the search for death, in order to direct the discourse towards the psychiatric issues of a sick person. In other words, psychiatry is at the service of power. Of course, it is much easier to quickly eliminate those who denounce important issues rather than confronting and solving them, like guaranteeing everyone, no exception, a house and an equitable distribution of the planetâs resources.â
â Paolini, M. 2018. Preface. In: Antonucci, G. El prejuicio psiquiĂĄtrico. Pamplona: Katakrak. [Translation mine]
I never comment on reblogs but âPsychiatry is the act of eliminating contextâ is the most cogent articulation of this issue Iâve ever heardâthis whole passage is brilliantly illustrative and Iâm so grateful for the translation.
i just said the same thing on twitter but please please please consider standing up for remote learning options even if everything does somehow go back to normal. so many physically disabled people drop out of school/college because of inaccessibilty. we have been asking for an option like this for so long and keeping it would change the lives of sooooo many people. we have an opportunity to start reforming the educational system to be more accessible to disabled and poor people and i really dont want to lose remote options because ableds are too lazy to keep hosting video calls.
this is okay to reblog but physically abled ppl be quiet!
