Just start. Even if you don't finish, even if it's not perfect, doing one little thing is better than doing nothing at all. Start with little baby steps, one foot in front of the other. You can do it! Get out of bed. (Look at you, doing stuff! You go, awesome person!) Write one sentence. Wash one dish. Pay one bill. Open one piece of mail. (Even if it's junk mail!) Make one appointment. Eat one thing. (Preferably something healthy, but if all you have is snack cakes, then eat a snack cake.) Pick up one thing that's out of place. Do one load of laundry. (You don't even have to sort it!) Read one paragraph. Tidy up one corner of the room. Do one small chore. Run one errand. Write down one thing you're grateful for. (Doesn't matter how big or small.) Write down one reason to stay alive. (Doesn't matter if it might seem silly or insignificant; I promise you, it's not. And if you can't live for yourself yet, living for a friend, a partner, a family member, a pet, or even a cactus is absolutely 100% valid.) Drink one sip of water. And when you've done that one little thing (whatever it is), give yourself a pat on the back! Then if you're up to it, do another little thing. And another. And another. Maybe you won't check off everything on your to-do list today. But one thing is better than nothing at all. Maybe you'll only get through half of whatever it is you're trying to accomplish. Half done is better than not even started. Maybe it won't look the way you want it to. But you did something, and that's half the battle right there. You can always tweak it later.
