Still on skip divorce, but as someone that ony saw the show and knows book canon only from fanfic. I feel as if both skip and hollonov in real life would not last long, or wpuld both in a really toxic way, and that's what make them interesting to me. "Polar vortices" by nestorius has the best take on how skip would be realisticaly, with 3 years of on and off "relationship" and then thebgrand reveal with all of their friends really hating from the start. On the same vein, to me, Scott and Kip would never get divorce but would instead make each others life hell while pretending to be okay and mayyyyybe start the divorce procedings and in the end decode to renew their vows. Also both of them cheat and in somehow is the least toxic thing they do.

I think after multiple visits to the kingfisher, and Scott personally showing up to the hollanov house in TLG indicates that they are potentially closer than just regular “hockey acquaintances”. Are they besties that go on double dates? Unlikely simply bc of the geographic distance. But I could absolutely see Scott coaching at their camp, going out every so often, possibly texting and ribbing each other in a hockey group chat.

realistically Scott would be retired when skip divorce so I think Ilya and Shane have pretty much stopped thinking about him because they're still playing

Re: skip divorce. I’ve seen a lot of ppl make joke posts about how they think Ilya would treat skip divorce, like using it as the perfect bait to chirp Scott on the ice, make jokes about Scott’s age being a reason for Kip leaving him etc etc. But tbh in like a real world scenario I cannot actually see Ilya using their divorce against Scott esp if it was a hard one. Like, although they pretend to be against each other it’s clear Ilya and Shane have a sort of kinship with Scott and clearly Ilya respects him enough to frequent the kingfisher and hang out with him. To me a divorce is one of those things, unless you were genuinely “enemies” on the ice, you wouldn’t really broach as an irl friend…? I think Ilya would be hurt for Scott and Kip respectfully and would never use that as rage bait. Even the Russian terror has boundaries
