It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!

What do y'all think about human names for the states? I haven't really been on AO3 in a hot minute so I haven't seen many of the recent fics, but I was just wondering what the tumblr side of the fandom thinks

I'm still gonna use human names because it sounds smoother to me, but I'm just curious

#people definitely use them #I typically use them as a “this is what humans call them” and they choose whether or not to tell other states their human names #I think using them in fic is chill as long as we know who is who #wttt #welcome to the table

Very funny to me if Cal does that thing that a lot of queer men do where they’ll pitch their voice up a bit and a few things happen. 1) his voice is noticeably deeper if he’s distracted or thinks he’s alone, not like shocking but noticeable, 2) his voice is shockingly deep in the mornings before his vocal chords have warmed up 3) he sings really low, like give him a voice that he should NOT have

I also think it’s funny if he has really large vocal range, like freakishly (I’ve said this before that he can’t go as high as Nev or Hawaii and can’t go as low as Texas or Alaska but he can get surprisingly close.)

The other night husband and I were watching a documentary about the yeti where they were doing DNA analysis of samples of supposed yeti fur, and every one of them came back as bears.

Anyway, the next night we watched a thing about some pig man who is supposed to live in Vermont. People said it had claws and a pig nose but walked upright like a man. Now, I happen to know that sideshows used to shave bears and present them as pig men. So every piece of evidence they gave of this monster sounds to me like a bear with mange.

So now the running joke in our house is that everything is bears. Aliens? Bears. Loch Ness monster? Bear. Every cryptozoological mystery is just a very crafty bear.

Bears. They’re everywhere. Be wary. Anyone or anything could be a bear.
