The fact that cis women never seem to grasp that trans women have a different relationship with being addressed as “man/dude/bro” is endlessly worrying to me.

Also, while some folks have told me that “dude is gender neutral,” I like to ask them if they have sex with dudes and the answer to that question generally reminds people that yes, this word is gendered, even if there are contexts in which it isn’t used that way. It is also a way to illustrate that the word has different meanings to different people.

This is actually in my hometown and that’s the cathedral of Uppsala, which is managed by the Swedish Church. The lightshow was part of an event called “Lights on Uppsala”, the purpose of the show was to light up some of the parts of the city during the night giving it a wonderful atmosphere since many people recognize Sweden as a country with relatively short days during winter. This event had no religious significance.
