Hi everyone, I wanted to give you all a quick update on where things stand now, since it's been about a week.
Last night, a fierce but short-lived storm rolled through our area, and unfortunately, it hit us pretty hard. We experienced some pretty severe, sudden leaks in a few different spots of the house. It was a stressful night, and it reinforced exactly how little time we have before the full monsoon season really locks in.
Because of the unpredictable weather and the complex structural issues we are facing with the connected patio, we have to shift our immediate strategy. Our priority right now is keeping the inside of the house dry.
We need to move forward and hire a disaster mitigation company to install heavy-duty, commercial-grade emergency storm tarping across the main structure of the house. This should completely secure the roof from water incursion, for now, and buy us the breathing room we need to handle the permanent repairs and patio permits safely over the coming months without the constant threat of flooding. Ultimately, fussing with the patio and what needs to be done with it is simply going to take too long, just as I feared, and we don't have that kind of time.
We are going to be making calls and trying to get a crew out here as soon as possible. Because this requires specialized equipment and rapid deployment, our fundraiser is more critical right now than ever to cover these immediate emergency labor costs.
Please consider sharing our link or donating if you are able. Every single dollar goes directly to keeping a roof over our heads and my family safe from the elements.
Thank you all so much for standing by us through this.
