Just wanted to share a tip I know about how to make the Quarter Tile Placement Cheat on all the time so you just have to press Ctrl + F when you want to use it without having to type in a cheat each time.

Many of you may know that adding “setquartertileplacement on” to your userStartup.cheat doesn’t work, so I’m going to tell you where you can put it that does work, in case you didn’t already know!

So, head to Origin Games\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSData\Res\Config and open up the file called “globalProps.xml” with a text editor, I recommend Notepad++. You should probably make a backup of this file first before making any changes, just in case.

In this file, scroll to the bottom and you should see a line that says:

<AnyBoolean key=“quarterTilePlacementEnabled” type=“0xcba908e1”>false</AnyBoolean>

Simply change the false to true and save the file and that’s it! The Quarter Tile Placement cheat will always be on without you having to type it in ever again! Simply toggle it on and off with Ctrl + F!

eight's Aspiration Calculator + Personality Coder For the Sims 1 and the Sims 2

Here is a version for when you're referencing The Sims Wiki. The displayed order of interests is changed, but it functions the exact same and the personality codes are interchangeable with the original version.

I've done a bit more research and testing on the subject of pink flashing (Thanks to everyone from my Discord who contributed!)

I came up with a "duct tape", temporary solution for Mansion & Garden players, in the form of an ASI mod, available with instructions under the cut.

Let me know how it goes! This won't fix crashes and won't work in every case, but people have seen improvements. Hopefully we'll get to the bottom of this at some point. I might make it a part of RPC eventually.

Hi guys! Since this Sims 2 community is so wonderful about sharing information and resources, I wanted to make some small contribution of my own with something I hadn't seen around before.

Mirrors have definitely tripped me up in the past and I know that's the case with others too, but once @thimblesims kindly gave me a couple pointers I actually realized they're really easy if you already know basic converting, just a little fiddly!

So this tutorial will walk you through the mirror-specific steps of converting from TS4, in the way that seemed most efficient to me. It's likely transferable to other mirror related applications besides just 4t2 but that's what I am doing so that's how it's geared. It's sort of part "understanding how mirror packages work" and part step-by-step instructions.

Feeling a little silly posting a tutorial since I'm such a beginner myself, but hopefully being able to write it out in detail while I'm still in a beginners mindset myself will be helpful to some! I find step by step tutorials that really spoon-feed me the information SO important for how I learn new things.

how to use SimPe to check CC inside Downloads (or any other folder) for GUID conflicts,

and tips on how to find GUID duplicates inside merged files

It’s best to make backup copy before changing the conflicting GUID or removing any resources from merged file. And also..

Check CC for conflicts BEFORE you go and merge everything into one giant fireball 🔥

Note: Scanning can take a long time if you have old HDD / tons of CC. SimPe will not start scanning until it loads the content, so it might seem like it froze completely. And sometimes it does.. hard to tell, so it’s best to wait. If you suspect particular merged file contains something that conflicts with TS2 object, drop it in an empty folder and point the Folder Scanner to it. Then it will only get screened for conflicts with TS2 object files (and stuff inside that file ofc).

Common symptoms of GUID conflicts: strange recolours, TS2 objects visible on lots but missing from the catalogue, CC not showing in catalogue.

since @vidcunds deactivated their simblr, which had a great tutorial on how to edit the graphicsrules.sgr file by hand to make it (hopefully) work with modern PCs,  I uploaded my personal graphicsrules files (for both the game and body shop).

this contains the following changes:

disableTexMemEstimateAdjustment set to true

enableDriverMemoryManager set to true

dirtyrect dynamicRenderStrategy set to 0 (to make reshade depth functions work in case you want to use them)

also included are executables for both ts2 and body shop that have been 4gb-patched.

Grant “Everyone” full control to the TSBin Folder before copying. Otherwise, Windows may lie (🤥) about copying the  d3d9.dll file to the folder. You’ll know you haven’t done this if the d3d9.dll file looks like it is there but no log file or cache files are generated.

If “Everyone” doesn’t appear, press “Edit” and then “Add” then type in “Everyone”, press OK, and “Everyone” should appear as an option you can edit the permissions on.

If you did not grant “Everyone” access, DXVK really might not work and/or crash.

⚠️If you had launched the game before granting “Everyone” access and after copying the DLL, you will be in a ditch. Get out of the ditch by deleting the “%localappdata%\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES” folder. You can get there by putting that path into Windows File Explorer’s address bar.

That was the only part that was useful to me, but it worth reading it all just in case.
