It’s literally not their wealth actually, when their workers are the ones producing, shipping, stocking, marketing, and selling the products just because their name is on the product. If 100 people work to sell something and 1 of them is so wealthy he will never spend the money in his life time, and the other 99 of them cannot afford both food and shelter this month, that isn’t ‘they got that wealth by themselves!’ that’s ‘they abused, coerced, manipulated and hurt 99% of the people in their company so they could have a bigger number in the account than the guy next door’.

It’s not their money or their wealth if they abused and manipulated and harmed others to get it. Stealing it from their employees doesn’t make it theirs.

Jaskier spends the Winter in Kaer Morhen, and on a particularly dull night when he’s had enough of watching Geralt spar with his brothers, he decides to go hunting around in Geralt’s room for some liquid fun.

He knows one of the bottles is White Seagull, a mild hallucinogen and sedative, and to be perfectly honest that sounds like exactly what he needs right now. He would love to stretch out across the bed and feel the white-noise feeling of prickling skin, feel his body grow heavy and numb and watch soft ripples he knows aren’t really there creep across the ceiling above him.

He also knows one is Black Seagull, an incredibly potent hallucinogen, which in the right circumstances might also be fun, but he’s not quite sure he’s ready for that at the present time. Not after what happened the last time he ate some wild mushrooms with a similar effect..

He also knows Geralt has a number of other potions, ones to help control his respiratory and cardiac systems even more, ones to heighten his senses even further, ones to help heal wounds and cure poisons. He just didn’t expect Geralt would keep the whole lot of them mixed in together. And it doesn’t help that he uses the same blue glass vials for all of them. No colour system, Geralt, really?

And Jaskier thought he’d picked right by the scent of the Arenaria flower used to make White Seagull, quite pleased with himself in fact for picking up the scent of it amongst the Cherry Cordial and Redanian Herbal. Unfortunately for Jaskier, what he was smelling was the Berbercane Fruit used to create Cat, and by the time he recognised the tart taste of it on his tongue, it was too late.
