Since it’s getting to be the end of the year and another holiday season is passing us by, I wanted to honor my girls who won’t be here with me anymore. This year has been hard (stating the obvious), what with work stress, the pandemic, my own depression and anxiety, and many other things. But one thing that really hit me hard this year were the deaths of my two girls, Ally and Lila.
They were both getting on in their years. Ally had been getting progressively skinnier and lost more of her hearing/sight. Lila had become almost completely deaf and was more frail, and after Ally had passed she fell into a depression and took a dive. And it really hit me this week during my work place’s peak season that I wouldn’t see them ever again except from pictures (of which I have many) and my memories.
So I just wanted to take this time and remember and honor them.
Ally was my oldest. She was with me for basically my whole life. We met when I was 3-4 years old and we grew up together. She loved to clean my arms, give me kisses on my forehead, and comfort me when I was sad or had pains. She was a sister, a best friend, a mom, and everything in-between.
She loved to be with mom and I; be it playing with a hair-tie, chasing after us when we would go biking, or even just cuddling under the covers on a cold night. Even when she got on in her years and her senses began to degrade, she never really felt her age.

Lila liked to be the boss, is the simplest way I can describe her. Yes she respected Ally as her elder and the ‘queen’ of the house, but SHE was in charge otherwise. She loved being heard, and if you dared to give another kitty attention, she was there yelling at you and getting in your face. She would make you remember that she was there and that she needed love and attention too.
She loved to cuddle too. I can’t tell you how many times I went to bed with her next to my head, or sleeping on top of mom. She didn’t lick you like Ally would, but she would purr so loud and hard that her whole body would move.

I miss them so much and I know I always will. We grew up together, moved towns together; they were an important part of my life growing up as an introvert. Whenever I had a bad day, I could count on them being there for me.
I’ll probably post some more photos that I have of them in the coming days, just to share and remember them by.
