The rapidity of a meme’s introduction to its zenith to its decline is so rapid that in ten years, you’ll need a damn twenty-page manual to explain this. It’ll be as unfunny and hard to explain as jokes in Shakespeare plays, except even more inexplicable because fuck, at least Shakespeare’s jokes are usually about anal or fucking your mother, good wholesome sex jokes we can all get behind.

ok let me see if i can break this down easily. YMCA is the easiest place to start - the song itself has become a meme over time with people changing the lyrics to reference other pop cultural events. so YMCA is meme one (1)

this first lyric replacement (”take the breadsticks and run”) is a reference to the tumblr meme ‘stuffing breadsticks into my purse’. i think everyone remembers that one so i wont bother to explain it. that’s meme two (2)

“man door hand hook car door” is a meme of its own, a creepypasta from i dont remember when. it was a terrible stupid retelling of the generic ‘stuck in a car while hook handed man tries to kill us’ story so the stupid title caught on for memorability. that in and of itself is meme three (3)

‘gun’ is… yeah i dont know how to explain gun. long story short you add gun to the end of a phrase instead of what you expect the last word to be. its shock funny. its everywhere but its popular to add to “man door hand hook car door” for.. some reason? gun is meme four (4)

and the thing is, this four meme combo is something thats gone around before. meme combos are, itself, a meme. which means taking this meme combo and mixing in another meme actually becomes meme five (5)

which leaves us at loss.jpg. loss.jpg was a terrible bad comic supposed to be about some tragic event, but it was presented so poorly literally no one takes it seriously, and for some reason recreating the four-panel setup has become popular. so thats meme six (6)

Since wifi is just a standard for sending data through radio waves, and radio waves can go a pretty long way if you use ‘em right, it’s not that difficult to connect two computers by wifi from across town. Then you just keep adding more computers to the network and you’ve got internet!

Small antennae, like for connecting across the neighborhood, can literally be built out of trash

And a larger, more accurate one can be built pretty cheap too

(You can also reuse an old satellite TV dish, or really anything else that’s roughly parabolic)

There are LoRa meshnets in places like New York, India, and all over Europe: Spain (pictured below), Greece, Austria, Germany, etc

As for sharing fresh mëmês, the network to go to is Scuttlebutt. Unlike most social media, Scuttlebutt posts are stored on your computer and sent directly to your friends’ computers (rather than being stored on the cloud and sent to a central server). It works just fine over traditional internet, but you can also view and interact with it offline, and it has protocols for connecting over any means that two computers can share information - that includes LoRa, as well as hardwired connections, sneakernet (basically mailing a USB stick back and forth), etc

What that means is you always know that your info is just as safe as the network it’s sent on and the computer that receives it - no one even theoretically has the ability to collect and sell it all. And, since it’s all run on your computer, there’s no servers to go down or companies to go out of business that could destroy the whole thing

Ferrets are good with letting people know what they do and don’t like, and with the way hes just gone floppy, hes having a blast.

Sadly, Gozer passed away last year due to feline leukemia. However, the other three - Venkman, Egon and Raymond - are all still around and active!

Venkman is the “leader” of the group, and by far the most curious - he explores and investigates everyone and everything that comes through the brewery. He also has a great sense of when somebody’s taking a picture of him and poses accordingly. He’s not interested in having humans pet him and will run away from you.

Raymond, however, seems to have been feral for all of thirty seconds before Treehouse picked him up: He will meow for attention, and either rub up against your hand to demand pets, or flop down on the ground so you can scratch his belly. He and Venkman are close pals.

Egon is the most skittish of the bunch, and barely likes you to even look at him. He’ll investigate new things, but spends most of his time hiding and sleeping. He has a special hiding spot on top of a pipe, and he somehow has the uncanny ability to sleep with all four paws dangling completely off of it without ever falling of.

This is how they spend most of their day. If you ever find a stray cat hair on one of your six-packs, it’s probably Raymond’s. The guy sheds like mad.

Venkman’s curiosity occasionally gets the better of him. This is what happened when a new pump came into the brewery. He managed to escape handily enough, though.

Like I said, Venkman likes to pose.
